Chapter 72
I shook my head, giving him a little smile. "Nah, I'm good. I was a little concerned that you were out of bed, but I was okay." I mindlessly toyed with his fingers, the words hesitating on my tongue. "I was thinking-" "Yes?"
"-it is time for me to confront my fears," he went to open his mouth and say something but gave him a warning gaze. "Alone," I said.
His brows drew together, a worried look coming over his face. "Don't you be thinking, that I would let you do this on your own. You are my wife, we are a team."
I gulped, emotions clogging at my throat. "This is my problem, I must do this on my own."
Marcus gave me a look of disbelief. "I really can not believe you would say that? Why are you trying to pushing me away from you? Why are you doing this?"
I opened my mouth to say explain but he raised a palm to silence me.
"No, don't even say anything. We are doing this together and if you still refuse, then, I have no other option but to forcefully join you. If you still refuse, then I will not allow you do it!"
On a normal day, I would be mad at him and blow up at him for throwing orders at me. But not today, not now. My heart raced and warmth spread through our my chest. Had I been crazy when I thought I was only? Maybe I was, because I had him, I will always have him.
A chuckle left his throat. "Why are you looking ate like that?" He raised his hand to wipe away the year that sneaked out of my eyes and rolled down my cheek. "You pretty are obsessed with me, aren't you?"
I giggled, knowing that he was trying to make light the situation. "Yes, I truly am obsessed with you."
We made a couple of jokes, messing around for a moment then suddenly, we all went quiet. No matter how we tried to stalk, no matter how we try to delay, we both knew the tragedy that laid ahead.
"I already have a plan," I said, meeting Marcus's eyes when they turned to me. He moved closer, inquiring that he be informed about them, so he could help me do whatever he had to. I spent the next hour telling him all that I had planned to do, with the hope that it worked out. He opposed but I was firm in my decision and after sometime, he finally agreed.
We went to bed that night, our minds wide awake with thoughts of what awaited us when we awake. I couldn't get any sleep and with how tensed Marcus was all night, he also could not sleep. We kept tossing and turning all night, until day
came.

I was now standing in front of the mirror, taking a good look at myself. I had on black leather pants, a handless oh leather top and leather knee high boots. I rolled my hair up and secured it into a pony tail on top of my head. My lips were painted with a blood red lipstick and my eyes... I put on a dark eyeshadow shade, making them look bigger and bolder.
"Ready?"
I lifted my eyes up, meeting his gaze in the mirror. He also had on a similar outfit to mine, only his jacket was a black jean. He can to wrap his arms around my waist and I leaned back against him. " Yes I am, are you?"
"I am." He let go, grabbing my hand in his and started to pull me out the door. "We need to go somewhere first, I want to show you something."
I followed as he took me out of the house and we began to walk away from the mansion, down another road that I realized I had never taken. "Where does this road lead to and why is it so quiet?" I asked.
He decided not to reply. He kept pulling me along, and I followed. Soon, we met a little house and by it, stood the man with a long beard from the coronation day. I noticed that he still lacked the ability to smile, or should I say; I was still yet to see him smile.
"Welcome," he said with a straight face. "You can go in there, the goddess is waiting and ready to see you."
One we were in the house and out of earshot, I asked again: "What is this place?"
"The goddess's shrine," he replied. Just on cue, he swept aside the rows of beats that were shading my view of the inside, and I walked into an... eh, empty room? I looked up at his face and I noticed he was already looking down at me with an amused expression on his face. "You wait here, I will bring it to you." He left me and walked towards the other part of the room and disappeared.
My body tensed up, my eyes widening in horror. Had Marcus just disappeared? Only one way to find out. I also walked towards where her had gone and as I tried to get through, I was thrown back by a force so strong that I had nearly lost my footing. I squires my eyes and that was when I saw it.
There was an invisible barrier, it looked like little ripples of water. With the way it had shoved me back, it seemed I was not in the favour of the moon goddess as I thought. She had practically chosen Marcus over me and was it absurd that I was kind of sad?
Huh?
It wasn't right? Right?
"You really are crazy," Marcus said with a chuckle, stepping out from the barrier. "No one is allowed in there, only the priest and the Alpha. So make peace with yourself, the goddess asked me to tell you so."
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, whatever!"
"You are so jealous."
"What?!" I snapped defensively. "I am not jealous?"
He muttered something about me deceiving myself, then he grabbed my hand and started pulling me towards the woods...
