Chapter 10
“Don’t cry!” Annabelle panicked as she stared at Nathan, whose eyes were red. “You’re a man! How can you still behave like a child and cry easily?”
“I didn’t cry!” Nathan turned around and wiped his face quickly before continuing in a rough voice, “So, you haven’t left the house for about a month?”
Annabelle opened her mouth but did not know how to reply.
Before Annabelle could say anything, Nathan said, “I’ll return and ask them what they’re trying to achieve.”
“Stop!” Annabelle quickly dragged him back. She did not want Nathan’s relationship with his parents to sour. She could escape her parents by marrying, but Nathan would not be able to do so.
“I have something I need help with! Can you help me?”
“Anna, please tell me. I’ll do it, come hell or high wate…”
“I don’t need you to do that!” Annabelle interrupted his words. Upon seeing the butler and housekeeper walking in, she stopped talking and dragged him upstairs.
Once they entered her room, she finally told Nathan what she wanted him to do.
“I thought you didn’t want to marry him?” Nathan asked in confusion and furrowed his brows.
Annabelle nodded, as she had no intentions of marrying. However, there was a problem with her relationship with her parents. The most crucial part was that she did not know the root cause of the problem.
Annabelle touched her stomach. She was aware that the child was the catalyst to the worsening of the relationship, but not the actual reason.
She did not know when they would stop being angry at her. Regardless, she needed to go for a pregnancy checkup as soon as possible.
Initially, she just wanted to keep this child because she was afraid of the surgery and the severe after–effects it would create. After spending the past two to three months with the baby and watching it develop little by little, Annabelle had grown to love this precious ball of life.
She wanted a daughter. She knew her daughter would definitely be prettier than her, and she would buy many beautiful dresses for her child so that the latter could dress up as an adorable princess.
Therefore, she was willing to make some compromises for her adorable child. For instance, if that man was able to take her out of this place, she was willing to let him be involved in the child’s life if he wanted to.
However, she would also not mind if he was unwilling.
She only hoped to be able to give birth to a healthy child.
“I understand!” Nathan understood after hearing Annabelle’s explanation. “But, do you know where that guy might be?”
He only glanced at the man in the airport. Although Nathan felt he looked familiar, he could not pinpoint where he had seen him.
Then, Annabelle had said she would cut ties with the man, so he could not be bothered to find out the man’s identity. Annabelle nodded and took out her phone. She opened one of the news reports she had saved and showed it to Nathan. At first, she had unintentionally seen the article. She had never imagined this day would come and had saved it unconsciously. However, she never expected to use it so quickly.
Nathan took the phone in confusion. He almost dropped it in shock after scanning through the content.
“Anna, the man you slept with is incredible!” Nathan put the phone down and stared at his sister. He sighed softly. Annabelle nodded. She also did not expect her taste in men to be so exquisite that she was able to choose the son of the wealthiest man out of so many people in the bar when she was drunk.
“If I approach him in this manner, will he suspect me of being a scammer?” Although the Ross family was considered a wealthy family, they were nothing in comparison to the Walker family. The Walker family was at the top of society. Wouldn’t he think the woman was money–crazy if she suddenly appeared and said she was pregnant with his child? Annabelle declared seriously, “I’m not a scammer, and I don’t want his family’s money. He only needs to take me out of this place!”
She thought, “I just have to get past this. I’ll have time to solve the problem with my parents later on.”
Nathan nodded and said sincerely, “Okay! I know what to do now! Don’t worry! I’ll definitely get it done!”
Nathan had gotten the day off for New Year’s Day. Since it was the weekend after that, he had initially wanted to spend the

whole three days in the Ross manor with his sister. However, he could not even be bothered to eat dinner as he left after picking up his phone and wearing his jacket.
Annabelle stood at the entrance and only returned to the manor after he disappeared from her sight.
That night, Annabelle tossed and turned in her bed. When she woke up the next day, she felt dizzy. She guessed that she must have caught a cold.
She did not want to get up from her bed. When she checked her phone and saw that Nathan had reached Dellmoor successfully, she decided to continue sleeping.
back
Overnight, Nathan rushed back to Dellmoor. He chose a random hotel to spend the night in, since he dared not go home. He hurried directly to Pearl Building the following morning. It served as both a landmark in Dellmoor and the location of Pearl Group’s office.
Nathan did not have the means to contact Lucas directly and also did not want anyone to find out about this. Therefore, he could only use the dumbest idea: to try his luck at Pearl Building.
However, he was unlucky, as Lucas was not even in Dellmoor. Apparently, he had an overseas work trip and would only return after three days.
After he thanked the receptionist at the front desk, Nathan walked out in disappointment. He wondered, “What should I do
now?”
He had confidently told his sister that he was able to help her accomplish this.
“Little kid, why are you looking for Mr. Walker?”
At first, Nathan did not think that the person was talking to him, as he did not consider himself to be a little kid. However, when he heard the person mention Lucas, he turned around subconsciously and saw a woman clad in black. She was elegant and smiling at him. Nathan came to the realization that he was the little kid in question.
“I have a very important matter!” Nathan did not recognize the gorgeous woman, as he still held on to the slightest hope that she knew Lucas. “Beautiful woman, are you able to contact Mr. Walker?”
Mary Johnson instantly beamed upon hearing that she was described as a beautiful woman. “You must explain your reason. for looking for him to me before I can help you contact him.”
Nathan was slightly apprehensive, as he did not know if it was appropriate to tell her. “Then, can you swear that tell anyone else?”
you won’t
“I swear!” Mary raised her right hand swiftly and swore, “I promise I’ll not tell any unrelated persons about this, or else I’ll receive divine retribution!”
Nathan immediately trusted the beautiful woman after she swore. He quickly dragged her to an empty corner and told her about how his sister was pregnant with Lucas‘ child and under house arrest. He then continued, “Don’t worry. My sister doesn’t lack money and is not trying to cling to Mr. Walker. She only wants to get out of that place. It’s fine if Mr. Walker doesn’t want to have any relations with the child! She can take care of the child herself…”
“That won’t do!” Mary’s elegant demeanor disappeared as she grabbed Nathan’s hand and asked emotionally, “Where’s your sister now?”
Nathan was rendered speechless.
