Chapter CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Back on Gordon’s lair, Jenny thought there was something soft about Gordon. He was different. Not like your typical bad guy in a movie. There was an underlying sadness about Gordon. And a barrier of honesty led to his depression. For Gordon, this was more than just a kidnapping. He believed everything he thought. And it was here in his lair that he would try to convince Jenny the same.
“Would you like something to drink, Jenny”, he said sincerely
“It’s okay. Some green tea. But tell me... why are you doing this?”
“Did they tell you I was a monster?”
“No?!”
Gordon continue to prepare her some tea as he turned his back against her. He didn’t seem concerned as you would run away or try to escape in any kind of way. He gave her almost complete freedom. And that worried her even more. Because if he didn’t fear her with his back turned, then this also meant he had the ability to really hurt her.
“But only a monster would keep an old lady in a dungeon”
“And who says I’m keeping her in a dungeon?”
“I mean what else would you be doing with her? ”
“Who says I haven’t already killed her?“. Something told her he was being facetious. But the tone and his eyes still caused her to fear that he may be telling the truth.
“Tell me something, Jenny. Why do scientists explore space?
“To learn more about space?” Jenny said with a confused look on her face. She really wasn’t sure where he was going with this. And she also thought the question was pretty obvious.
“Precisely. And once you have enough information about space what are you going to do with it...” He said in a slithery tone.
“Well explore it so that you can maybe build a second Earth for fine aliens. I mean aren’t you guys aliens?”
“Jenny do you think you’re smart?”
“Well of course...” She said she said her tea.
“And would you say you’re smarter than a monkey?”
“Yes”, Jenny responded confused as to where the conversation was headed.
“Would say you’re smarter than a monkey because you have more information and more technology?”
“Yeah I guess so. Plus monkeys can’t talk. We talk to each other”. Jenny thought her response was pretty intelligent.
“Just because you don’t understand them doesn’t mean they don’t communicate though...” Gordon said in a snarky voice.
“So.. what... You think if monkeys have technology and information, they could be smarter than we are?”
“Exactly”, Gordon yelled at if she had hit the jackpot.
“Wait I’m confused. You’re suggesting that we are only smarter than monkeys because of what we know and what we have. What does that have to do with you?” Jenny said that she started to feel herself get angry. “We’re not going around killing monkeys and kidnapping old wise baboons.”
“No. No you’re not. Because it’s not you, or rather, it’s not earthlings who are the problem. It’s Theorians.”
“What do you mean?” Ask Jenny. Completely confused now.
“No species should have the technology of every single species on earth. There’s only one reason why a species would want access and understanding of all knowledge to every creature in the galaxy. There’s only one answer to it. Galaxy domination”
“You’re kidding right?,” Jenny said almost in the sarcastic tone. “You really think that Theorians are out to conquer all the galaxy. Is that even possible?”
“Across time and galaxies, Theorians have been landing on planets and acquiring knowledge as humans or whatever their native species is. They take that information and are able to use it in their own advancement.“.
Making a little sense, Jenny was absolutely shocked that what he was saying was starting to make sense.
“But say your best defense on the planet is a stratosphere shield. Let’s say your best attack weapon is a laser gun. Take those weapons to another planet. A primitive planet if you will. They wouldn’t stand a chance. You’d wipe them out in a second.” Gordon continued.
“Now let’s say that primitive planet is being observed by a more dominant species. That dominant species finds out you’ve wiped out their planet using your technology that they’re unaware of. But this dominant planet just so happens to be stronger than you are. They can have the ability to wipe you out.“.
Hearing the words that Gordon was saying was starting to make sense. Very similar to how things were done on Earth. Countries would fight against each other. Some countries would have nuclear advancements while others would have technological advancement. Each of them making one another just slightly a bit more aggressive. There were governmental groups in place to halt such usage, but it did not stop the fact that the weapons were made or in existence.
“You can’t possibly set yourself out to absorb all the knowledge, technology, and advancements that other planets have and not share them. Have you ever seen a theory in down on earth sharing their advanced technologies? No you haven’t. You earthling sit along and go about your day as if nothing’s happening. You learn as such a slow rate here. Faster than us on our planet but slower than many others.”
Jenny was starting to get scared. Everything Gordon was saying was making sense. She started to question everything that Zero had told her. About how wonderful things were and how awesome the matriarch would be as sharing all their new information. She started a question whether or not they were truly good guys.
Shifting is an awesome ability. More often than not, Jenny could use her abilities to manipulate others. But being bullied and teased most of her life, she never used her shifting abilities for that. Recognizing Jacob and his masterful skills in using his abilities showed her how quickly and easily someone could manipulate their shifting abilities to their advantage. The more Gordon spoke, the more Jenny began to realize that he actually might be right.
Was Gordon actually a bad guy? He made a lot of sense where things did not make sense. Did zero really know what he was doing. She did tease him about his inability to make his own decisions and always following the rules. But everyone seemed to be so happy and Mount pioneer was such a beautiful place. People coming up with their own eye total chaos or anarchy with a uniform system couldn’t be possible if they wanted to keep looking like they did. Someone had to be in control. But did they have to be in control of everything?
