Elysia stood frozen , her gaze fixed on the bloodied water slowly spreading across the floor .

Though the scene hurt , this wasn’t the outcome she was most upset about .

She was more dismayed by the failed attempt to use the admission letter to bridge the gap between her and her father .

However , she still had one last hope .

She took out her phone , played the recording , and held it up to Rupert , saying , “ Dad , I have evidence of Rowena cheating on the placement test and planning to harm you .

Please listen before deciding anything ” 

Rupert’s face instantly turned red at Elysia’s words .

He raised a trembling finger , ready to scold her , but he was so furious that he choked on his own 

words .

Oddly , no sound came from the recording even after several seconds had passed .

Elysia’s heart raced as she anxiously snatched her phone back to check .

The speaker was working perfectly , and the file showed no signs of corruption .

She didn’t understand why there was no sound 

Having regained his composure , Rupert began shouting “Your What’s wrong with you ? How could you slander your sister like this ! Last time , I let it slide as a lapse of judgement , but now .

you’re accusing Rowena of poisoning me ?

Beads of swear formed on Elysia’s forehead as she frantically tapped through her phone , scanning every app and program .

But there was no sign of anything wrong .

But as she focused , she suddenly heard movement from downstairs and found out that Stellan hadn’t left yet .

He was on the first floor , heading toward the door .

Panic gripped Elysia .

She wanted to run after Stellan immediately , but the current sinuation held her back .

She did not know how to explain all of that to her father without solid evidence .

In the end , Elysia could only muster a feeble defense , saying .

“ No matter what , please go to the hospital for a check – up .

I didn’t slander Rowena .

“ Smack ! ” Her words were cut off by a loud , dull slap .

Rupert’s hand hadn’t landed squarely on Elysia’s face as intended .

She had instinctively dodged , but his palm still struck her right ear hard .

Elysia closed her eyes and crouched down , clutching her ear in agony as sharp pain shot through her head .

It hurt so much that she felt dizzy .
