You, Me and Our Genius Twins

Chapter 525 Even Offering to Pay

Chapter 525 Even Offering to Pay

It was hard to refuse such an offer.

Unable to decline, Madeline had no choice but to accept it.

Seeing Madeline accept the gift, Amy was delighted.

After all, she secretly wanted to be friends with Madeline as she adored the latter very much.

Madeline was beautiful, had a great personality, and was even a "strong" and successful woman with her own law firm.

The reason "strong" was in quotation marks was because Madeline didn't look like someone who was alpha.

She looked innocent and soft, seemingly like a college student still studying at university.

In fact, Madeline looked younger than Amy. When Amy found out that Quincy and Joel were Madeline's children, she was shocked.

Then, she asked Madeline about her age and found out they were surprisingly the same age, with Madeline being just a few months older.

At that moment, her jaw dropped.

After all, not only was Madeline married and had two children at such a young age, but she also had her own career. More importantly, she looked stunning!

Amy felt as if Madeline was living the life she wished she had.

Most people longed for a miracle in life, and Madeline was Amy's miracle. She admired Madeline and wanted to get closer to her, to be friends with her.

Whenever she saw something good, the first person she thought of was Madeline.

Madeline was a very kind person. If she gave Madeline a present, the latter would return the favor. Then, if she gave another gift to Madeline, their relationship would slowly become closer.

Amy didn't have many friends. One of the two closest friends she had went abroad to further her studies, while the other had moved to another city. Thus, whenever Amy felt lonely, she had no one to accompany her for an outing.

She wondered if she could invite Madeline over once she became close to her. Moreover, Quincy and Joel could tag along.

Those children were good-looking and adorable. Moreover, they were very well-behaved. Although Amy had only spent a short time with them, she was utterly captivated by the boys, wishing they were her nephews!

Since Ewan wasn't married yet, she didn't know when she would have a nephew of her own. Thus, once she was friends with Madeline, she decided to treat Quincy and Joel as her nephews!

She envied Madeline and Leigh's friendship, as Leigh treated Quincy and Joel like family, while the

boys treated Leigh like a real aunt.

Once she became friends with Madeline and the boys, she believed she could also interact with them like how Leigh did.

Just the thought of it made her feel incredibly happy!

In the meantime, Madeline once again felt that Amy was an optimistic and kind-hearted girl when she saw the latter's smile.

After all, if a girl were to be cheated on by her boyfriend, she would either cry her heart out or become cynical. However, Amy let go of this matter after being devastated for a few days. There was no doubt that she might be hiding her pain away and forcing herself to forget it. Even so, with such a positive attitude toward life, she would eventually be able to let go completely. Besides that, it was obvious that Amy had given her a set of expensive jewelry, yet she was smiling as if she had gained an advantage. At least she isn't materialistic, thought Madeline.

Although those who weren't materialistic weren't a hundred percent kind-hearted, at least eighty percent were.

As the saying went, "Humans die in pursuit of wealth as birds die in pursuit of food." So, most conflicts and disputes would happen because of money and emotions.

In terms of emotions, Amy had just gone through a breakup, yet she remained calm and optimistic.

In terms of money, Amy didn't even blink an eye as she gave away such valuable jewelry.

Although they had only known each other briefly, Madeline could already tell that Amy was a friend worth having.

Since both of them intended to become friends, they enjoyed each other's company very much.

When two girls without any mutual friends got together, they usually talked about gossip.

Amy was particularly interested in Madeline's law firm and asked many questions about it.

As they chatted, she suddenly asked Madeline, "Maddie, I studied economics and have a certified accountant qualification. Can I apply for a financial position at your law firm?"

Hearing her question, Madeline didn't say anything.

Since the law firm didn't specifically have a financial staff, Madeline handled the finances herself. Moreover, her law firm had limited business, so she didn't need to hire a professional financial staff.

However, she didn't know how to tell Amy about it. After all, Amy had just given her an expensive set of jewelry, and she would look like an ungrateful person if she outright refused Amy's proposal.

"It's okay, Maddie. You don't have to feel pressured about it. I was just asking. You know about my situation. I have a certain number of shares in Ewan's company, and the dividends from the shares are enough for me to live comfortably without needing to work. Thus, I just wanted to work to pass the time. I like the nature of your law firm. I like the idea of 'having a mansion with a thousand rooms, sheltering all the poor in the world with joy.' I want to do something I find meaningful. I don't need a salary. I just want to enrich my life!" said Amy.

At her words, Madeline didn't know what to say.

That just means she can do whatever she wants because she is rich!

Amy said, "It's okay, Maddie. If you can't..."

"No. As long as you don't have any demands for compensation, you can come and work anytime. When the law firm was in Worrick, the income was good. However, after coming to Dusktown, we didn't have much income since we were unfamiliar with the place. Plus, we haven't had much business for a while. Thus, we don't need extra staff right now. Though, if you don't mind having a low salary, you can work as my assistant, as well as a part-time financial staff. When we expand our market and have more business in the future, I will increase your salary," said Madeline.

Upon hearing Madeline's agreement, Amy smiled happily and said, "Thank you, Maddie. Money is not a problem for me. I can even pay to work for you!"

Madeline was speechless and thought, As expected from the rich, they can do whatever they want!

"It's settled then!" Amy said excitedly. "I'll focus on recovering first. I'll work as your assistant when I'm better, Maddie!"

Madeline nodded. "Okay."

Having an assistant would be nice, she thought. After all, she had a family with two children who needed her care and attention. Thus, having an assistant would allow her to focus more on caring for Sebastian and the boys. It would be fantastic.

Then, she thought of something and paused momentarily before asking, "Do you need to discuss this with your parents and Ewan?"

"No need." Amy shook her head. "Mom and Ewan have always wanted me to go abroad, but Dad is here, so I can't go anywhere. As for my dad... He doesn't really care about my doings."

Madeline hesitated momentarily before asking, "Do you have a bad relationship with your father?" Otherwise, how could a father not care about his daughter?

Amy sighed. "It's complicated..."

That usually meant it was something inconvenient to talk about. Hence, Madeline immediately changed the subject. "Will you be living here in the future? If you're going to live here, you can choose any room except those occupied."
