You, Me and Our Genius Twins

Chapter 414

Chapter 414

With a shriek, the little guy pounced toward Martin's chest and crawled onto his lap effortlessly. Joel wrapped his arms around Martin's neck, exclaiming, "Uncle Martin, when did you come back? I miss you so much."

When compared to Uncle Sam and Uncle Dan, he had the most affection for Uncle Martin. That was because Martin treated him and his brother the best. He did not exclude them from the game because of their age and was willing to engage in whatever activity they chose to do together.

"I miss you and Quincy too." Martin patted Joel's bum with a smile. "You've gained weight, Joel."

Hearing that, Joel pouted. "No! I'm not fat! I-I've gotten stronger!"

Martin laughed and kissed his tender cheeks. "Alright, alright. You were too skinny, but now you look just nice."

Quincy also greeted Martin. "You're back, Uncle Martin."

Even though Quincy wore a poker face, anyone who knew him could tell from his eyes that he was also happy to see Martin.

Sebastian had already run a background check on more than a dozen of Madeline's employees. He knew the young man in front of him was her most beloved younger brother. Madeline probably prioritized him over Luke and his brother.

Sebastian walked up to Martin with a light smile, asking, "You're back? It must've been hard on you."

Martin's heart was calmed by hearing those words. Then, he put Joel down on the ground, stood up, and greeted Sebastian. "Nice to meet you, Sebastian."

His greeting instantly pleased Sebastian, and his smile widened. Then, Sebastian stretched his hand to support Martin's arm. "We're all a family. You don't have to be so polite. Come and have a seat."

Sebastian sat next to Madeline while Martin returned to his seat. However, Martin was quite tense, and his bum only sat on half of the couch. Straightening his back, he couldn't hide the nervous look in his beautiful eyes.

Sebastian looked at Martin with interest, finding him amusing. After a few glances, Sebastian suddenly thought of something. This boy looked better than in the photos. Martin had fair skin and thick eyebrows, exuding a melancholic temperament. He was strikingly similar to a character from a comic book. Sebastian's brother, Anthony, owned an entertainment company, and Martin's appearance was comparable to that of the hottest male star in the company right now. He would be able to capture a girl's heart with his delicate appearance, flawlessness, and a touch of melancholy in his temperament. If Martin was willing to join the entertainment industry, even if he had no outstanding talent, his visuals were enough to bring him fame.

However, what attracted Sebastian the most was not Martin's stunning face but a sense of familiarity... a familiarity similar to an acquaintance. He fixed his gaze on Martin for a moment and finally realized where this sense of familiarity came from. Martin and his childhood friend, Andrew Whitfield, looked very similar.

Martin, who was already nervous, was even more anxious when being stared at. Instantaneously, his face flushed with awkwardness as he restrained himself from making any sound or movement.

This time, Joel looked at him strangely. "Uncle Martin, what's wrong with you? Why is your face red? Is it too warm?"

Martin shook his head and reassured him, "It's okay. I'm good."

Sebastian chuckled and said gently, "Thank you for rushing back for our wedding. Your sister misses you a lot and often talks about you. Additionally, thank you so much for taking care of her along with Quincy and Joel while I wasn't by her side. You should get some rest today, and I'll treat you to a good meal tomorrow."

"Thanks, Sebastian." Martin still sat with his back straight; his expression was as stern as Quincy's and tense at first glance. He didn't look relaxed at all and was a stark contrast to how he behaved in front of Madeline.

Seeing his nervous mode, Madeline suggested, "Why don't you rest up for today? Let's gather and have dinner tomorrow."

He stood up with her, bent down, and picked up the box on the coffee table, handing it to Sebastian with both hands. "Sebastian, this is a gift I specially chose for you, but I don't know if you'll like it."

Sebastian took the box and opened it. Inside the box were three pairs of gemstone cufflinks and three gemstone collar pins. Whether a gemstone cufflink or a gemstone collar pin, they were all inlaid with high-quality gemstones. Sebastian was a little surprised to see it, so he wondered if the employees of Oasis Law Office earned well.

At the same time, Madeline was also stunned to see Martin's gift to Sebastian. She frowned and asked

him, "Where did you get so much money to buy these?"

Though these gifts were not expensive, the quality of the gems was definitely worth a lot.

Martin replied, "I recently completed a few tasks smoothly, and the clients were quite generous, so I managed to save up some money. I also bought gifts for you, Madeline, Quincy, and Joel. I'll bring them over tomorrow since they're in my luggage."

Madeline was a little dumbfounded. The gifts for her, Quincy, and Joel were in the suitcases, and only Sebastian's gift was brought over. She realized that Martin would give it his all when he tried to flatter someone.

Fortunately, Sebastian liked it and thanked him, "I like the gifts very much, but you don't have to spend so much on the family next time."

"Got it," Martin answered obediently. "This is just a gift for our first meeting and also to congratulate you on your wedding. I won't give gifts anymore after this."

For this trip home, Martin spent all the money he had saved over the years and the money he earned during recent missions, so he didn't have enough to spend on gifts anymore.

Sebastian then smiled in response and patted Joel's head, saying, "Joel, go to my study and get the wooden box on the corner of the table."

"Okay, Daddy!" Joel enjoyed doing things for his father, so he skipped upstairs and returned with cheerful steps. "Daddy, I got it!"

He handed the wooden box in his hand to Sebastian.

Sebastian handed the box to Martin, saying, "I also prepared a gift for you since your sister said that you came back recently."

"Thank you, Sebastian!" Martin bent slightly over to Sebastian and took the wooden box with both hands.

Sebastian smiled. "Open it and see if you like it."

Martin opened the box to see a bunch of keys lying in it. The keys were marked with a logo, and anyone who had little knowledge about cars could tell which brand it was. Sebastian gifted him a car.

He confirmed Martin's assumptions, "I got a car for you. I had planned to give you a sports car, but I recalled that your sister has high requirements for the car's safety performance, so I took her into consideration and gave you an SUV. If you don't like it, I can replace it with a sports car."

Martin was speechless upon hearing that.

This brand was worth at least several hundred thousand.

Even after emptying his savings, Martin could only afford three pairs of cufflinks and three collar pins with different gemstones for his brother-in-law. On the contrary, his brother-in-law gave him an SUV worth hundreds of thousands. How many missions did he have to accept in the future to narrow the wealth gap between him and Sebastian?
