You, Me and Our Genius Twins

Chapter 243

Chapter 243

Sebastian got his phone out and gave Lucas a call. After a rundown of the day's events, he told Lucas to send a message to the Shrivers.

Lucas was just as protective as Sebastian, so when he heard that his nephews got bullied at school and how malicious their actions were, he was incensed. "Leave it to me, Sebastian. I'll get it done at once!'

He had been feeling a tad bit bored the past few days, so this was pretty good timing.

Lucas was not going to rest until he gave that woman who bullied his nephews a lesson she would never forget!

As soon as he ended the call, he reached out to their family's investigators and asked them to find out who bullied his nephews.

Naturally, he was not about to take revenge on a kid.

That would be far too unbecoming of him.

However, an ill-behaved child reflected the parenting he received at home.

Therefore, the kid's family was going to pay for this.

Jayden's background was easy enough to look into. The investigators fed the information back to Lucas in next to no time.

Lucas snorted once he heard that it was the Shrivers' grandkid.

Here he was, wondering how elite of a family they were that they dared to pull such a stunt on his nephews, but it turned out to be the Oaksbury Shrivers.

While the Shrivers arguably had some influence in Dusktown, it was child's play compared to the Harts. In fact, he would not even need to rely on the Hart family's influence at all to deal with them. Even Caleb or Kieran could squish them like a bug if they wanted to.

Why would the Shrivers dare to bully his nephews when they were nowhere near as established as the Harts? What got into them?

After looking into Jayden's family, Lucas put the word out to strike against the Shrivers as quickly as possible, and as viciously as possible.

He wanted anyone who caught wind of this incident to realize that the Harts were not a family to be trifled with. Anyone who stood against the Harts, no matter who it was, was going to pay the price!

In the company, Lucas had the final say when Sebastian was away.

Therefore, his command was carried out at once.

The Shrivers did have some influence in Dusktown, so they did have some connections too.

Soon enough, they heard through the grapevine that Hart Corporation wanted to take them down.

When Clive Shriver heard the news from a friend of his, he was thrown for a loop. "Hart Corporation? Are you sure it's not a mistake? There's no conflict between us and the Harts, so why would they pick a fight with us all of a sudden?"

The Hart Corporation was the premier corporation in Elsenburg City.

Those in the corporate world often valued principles and peaceful cooperation. They would not easily step on someone else's toes without a valid reason.

Even Clive himself would take great care not to offend an ordinary person, so why would he get in the way of a corporate giant like the Harts?

"It's real," his friend said in a rush. "I heard that people from Hart Corporation reported your family to the authorities. Right now, the department of commerce, the internal revenue service, and even the anti-corruption commission are all gathering a team to look into your company. You need to hurry up and think of a way to sort this out. Maybe you could reach out to the Harts and see if you could resolve whatever it is that's going on between the two families, or else, it could be the end of the entire Shriver family!"

So many departments were going to look into the Shriver's business dealings. It would be one thing if they were completely clean, but if they were not, then the fines alone would be enough to deal a heavy blow to their company.

If the government bodies did manage to dig up any sort of illegal dealings, then the Shrivers would be done for!

Clive's friend took their many years of friendship into account and decided to give him a head's up, but

he ended the call as soon as he could.

He wanted to minimize contact with Clive out of fear that he might get dragged into this too.

The reminder was solely due to their decades-long friendship.

After the call ended, Clive remained in a daze.

Why would his family get caught in the crosshairs, and with the Harts no less?

The Shrivers were nothing more than a small aristocratic family, while the Harts were one of the most prominent families in Dusktown.

He wrung his brain out trying to think of how they might have offended the Harts, but he could not think of anything.

Clive rushed home at once and called for an urgent family meeting.

His stern but frantic gaze swept across every single one of his family's faces as he asked gravely, "Tell me. Which one of you offended the Harts?"

This was the conclusion he landed on.

The Harts, being the pinnacle of the corporate world in Dusktown, would not act against the Shrivers for no apparent reason.

He was a hundred percent positive that he did not offend the Harts while conducting business around

town.

If he was not the one who did it, then it had to be someone else from the Shriver family.

In order to find a solution to save the family business, he had to figure out who was the cause of this calamity.

His gaze fell upon his granddaughter-in-law. Queenie was ashen-faced and trembling ever so slightly.

Immediately, he honed in on her and barked, "Queenie, do you know something about this?"

Everyone turned to look at Queenie.

With how serious Clive was about this, there was no way of hiding it from him, so Queenie dared not lie about it.

Her voice quivered as she said, "I-It's because there was a scuffle between Jay and Sebastian Hart's sons… but it was just a small fight between the children… H-How could he…"

Queenie's voice faltered before she could finish her sentence once she spotted the fury in Clive's eyes.

She wanted to say that it was just a spat between the children, so how could Sebastian retaliate by trying to take down the entire Shriver family?

However, no matter what she said, deep down inside, she knew that if she were Sebastian, she would have done the same too.

If her son had picked a fight with another kid from a family that was far less influential than hers, she would have done what the Harts were doing and teach that kid's family a lesson too.

It was only natural for parents to be protective of their children.

Clive's face had turned white, and he questioned Queenie, "Why did Jay and Sebastian Hart's sons get into a fight?"

If it was just over a tiny matter, he could find someone to act as a go-between and get his great- grandchild to apologize in person.

A prominent family like the Harts would care a lot about their public image and would not act unreasonably.

If the Shrivers were sincere about the apology, the Harts would probably accept it and let the matter go.

Since things had gotten this serious, it would be a piece of cake for Clive to figure out the truth. Therefore, Queenie did not have the guts to lie about it. Her voice was shaking as she regaled everything that happened.

"You foolish woman!" Clive was so infuriated that he threw a cup on the floor. "What kind of rubbish did you teach your son? How can you say such nonsense in front of him? What do the Harts' family matters have to do with you? Why did you have to comment on such things?"

Clive got so mad that he began to feel a little dizzy. It felt like he was about to get an aneurysm.

His great-grandson had gone so far as to call Sebastian's sons b*stards born out of wedlock, and he

even hit them.

It would not be so bad if Sebastian did not care about those two children, but seeing how determined the Harts were to take revenge, it was obvious that Sebastian cared a lot about his two sons.

Had this been a small matter, he could have found someone to connect him with the Harts and pay them a visit in person to apologize. Everything could have been sorted out just like that.

However, Jayden had insulted Sebastian's sons with such harsh words. This was a complete and utter display of disrespect. It was unlikely that the Harts would be willing to go easy on them.
