Seeing that she wasn’t getting any money, Mila grew desperate and incited the man to kill me. “It’s her, she’s the one who threatened me. She said if I went to see you, she would beat Sofia,” she lied.

“I had no choice,” she added.

“Take care of her. Once you do, the three of us can finally be together,” she coaxed.

“And the money… she has a lot of it,” she tempted.

Mila spouted lies effortlessly.

The man hesitated, standing there unsure.

As he hesitated, the sound of sirens filled the air. The police had arrived.
