Chapter 15: I Like You

Jasmine's POV

"Jasmine, I like you. No, I love you. I'm sorry, I tried to stop it but I couldn't."

I am at a loss for words. I don't know what to say. I can't explain it. I looked at Diego waiting for my answer. I slowly got my hand back from him and I saw how sad he was.

My mind suddenly stopped functioning, and I couldn't even utter a single word. I saw him force me to smile, and I hated seeing him like that.

"Diego," I looked at him, and then I suddenly felt warm tears on my face-not because I was happy but because I was afraid.

I'm afraid that after this he would hate me, after this we would not be able to do the things that we always do.

"Damn! I'm sorry, I stopped crying now. Shit" he cursed while shushing me. I look at his worried face.

"I'm sorry, Diego. I'm sorry." I shook my head, but he just pulled me closer and hugged me. I didn't want to hurt his feelings.

"No, it's okay. I just tried. But don't worry about me. It's okay Jaz. Stop Crying now," I can hear the sadness in his voice. I know he's hurt.

I wasn't ready, I never thought of being in a relationship. I hurt him, I know he's hurt. I promise to myself that I will never entertain another man again. I won't let anyone ruin me again especially now that I have David with me.

I know Diego is different from that man, I wasn't expecting him to admit it now. I love Diego as a friend, I always treasure those memories that we had.

How he always makes cheesy jokes just to make me happy, how he manages my attitude when I was pregnant. He never left me and always guided me through my journey.

And now, I don't know what to say. I'm out of words.

"I'm sorry," he said, making me face him. He showed me his broad smile, but even if he did, I knew he was still hurt.

"You don't have to say sorry, and I don't want you to think about it anymore, okay? Just pretend it never happened. I know you're not yet ready. I understand you. I don't mean to make you feel scared. Don't worry about me," he said and chuckled. I looked at him and wiped my tears.

"Diego, "I don't know what to say. He looked into his watch and smiled at me. I know he's just forcing himself to smile.

"I have to go; David is waiting for me now in their school", he said, messed up my hair and left my office.

He left me standing looking at the door. Thinking about many things.

I tried Diego, but I couldn't. You don't know how much I tried. I wish you were the one who came first and not him.

I force myself to love you but my heart doesn't want to.

I went back to my chair and I couldn't stop trying.

"Why do you have to be like this?" I held my chest. I tried to teach myself to love Diego but my heart doesn't want to accept him.

He's a good man indeed, he's totally different from others but why can't my heart just let him enter?

I hurriedly wiped my tears when someone knocked on the door.

"Ma'am-" she stopped when she saw me. I smiled at her.

"What is it?" I asked her while she was holding food in her hand.

"I forgot about your lunch. Mr. Jenkins called me and told me to give it to you," she said, placing the food on the table. I nodded at her and thanked her.

"I also saw him leaving earlier ma'am "Via pointed outside but she stopped when she saw that I'm not in the mood.

"Also, I received a call yesterday from your line asking about your business outside the country. She said that she needs to meet you on Friday" she said.

Actually, I haven't checked about

that because Diego was the one who was in charge of that meeting though he also needed me there

Aside from our real estate business, Diego is also busy with other as a

matters; he's also known as

well-known business planner.

"Actually I wanted to discuss it with you the other day, but then I was busy. I don't know how many days we'll be out of town. I'll let you be in charge in the meantime. Don't worry, I'll be working also while I am there," I said, and she nodded. I trust Via.

"Don't worry ma'am you can count on me" she said and smiled at me.

"I will also talk to my other clients that if they need anything, you will be the one charge to assist them. And if Mr. Adam calls, does not answer. "I also told her and she nodded.

After she left, I sighed.

Diego hasn't mentioned the business. But I'm afraid.

Going back there wasn't that easy, and I've always wished that we would never see each other again.

He brought too much pain to me and I would never let him do it again.

After I was done, I decided to go home early.

While I'm on my way, I'm still thinking about what happened.

I don't know how I would be able to face him now or even start a conversation with him.

When I arrived home, I saw Diego and David playing in the living room. Diego was wearing a Superman outfit, while my son was wearing a Spider-Man outfit.

A smile formed into my lips, they were happy. This is what I want for my son.

"Mommy look!" He showed me his outfit, I kneel down and touch his face.

"You look handsome in it" He grabbed me by my hand and pulled me through Diego. "Let's save the queen, Daddy Uncle!" David said. I looked at him and he smiled at me.

"Let's go!" He carried me in a bridal style while they were both running.
