Why deceive me??

Chapter 18. You look like the other one

"You didn't kiss him?" Binca asked surprised.

Ronnie's eyes shot open. "Mum, what are you saying" Pretending not to understand what she was saying.

"Why on earth won't you kiss him?" Bianca asked, obviously in the mood to taunt her daughter and enjoying the outcome.

"Mum...I don't... um...I think I'll go to my room now. I'm exhausted." Ronnie said and sprinted up to her room, slamming the door shut.

Bianca smiled to herself. She always wants to see her Ronnie happy and she thought this Daniel would make that come true.

Ronnie lay down on her not-too-big bed and smiled to herself. Just then her phone beeped. She opened it and saw a message from Katie.

...Get ready, I'm picking you up first thing tomorrow morning. Wear a very short dress, because that's how I dress. Your job starts then. 8:00 am. Do oversleep...

She sighed and lay motionless on the bed. She thought about how her life was about to take a new turn. How she was gonna cope in a new world in a couple of months Katie would be absent? She thought about what she was gonna do about Daniel. While she kept jumping from one thought to another, she didn't know how or when she managed to fall asleep.

The next morning, it was the blinding light on her window that woke her up. She knew she was missing something but couldn't remember. Then it hit her. She was supposed to be ready for Katie by now. She glanced at her phone, praying it won't be late, then she breathed a sigh of relief. The time was just 7 o'clock. Enough time to get ready.

She stood up and immediately went into the shower. She turned on the shower and sang her favorite song, 2002 by Anne Marie.

And it went like this say

Oops I got ninety-nine problems singing

Bye bye bye. Hold up

If you wanna go and take a ride with me

Come on hit me baby one more

Create a picture for you and me

On the day when we were young

Singing at the top of both our lungs

On the day we fell in love.

When she was done bathing, she wore her mini gown and applied a lot of makeup so she could look exactly like Katie. Almost done with the makeup, Katie called her. She picked it up immediately.

"Are you done, I'm waiting outside your house," Katie said.

"Yes, I'm gonna be out in a sec," Ronnie replied.

"Are you wearing a short dress?" Katie inquired.

"Yes."

"And a lot of makeup?"

"Yes, and that."

"Don't forget to wear high heels." Katie reminded.

"About that, I can't walk in those." She confessed.

"Whatever, just tell them you changed style." "Ok"

"Not ok, you're wasting my time. I have a flight to catch."

"Sorry, I'm coming out"

She hurriedly walked out of her room and toward the door. She saw her mum sitting by the breakfast table, eating her food.

"Where are you going all dressed up?" Bianca said, eyeing her suspiciously.

"Oh, work." She replied.

"If I wasn't your mother, I'd say you look just like the other girl," Bianca said and rolled her eyes.

"That's insane." Ronnie laughed nervously.

"You can go now, I'll cope with the maid, you know."

"I'll check up on you from time to time," Ronnie said and kissed her cheeks before walking out the door.

Once she was out the door, she spotted a red sports car by her left and guessed it must be Katie's. She walked toward it and saw Katie by the steering wheel. Ronnie waved at her and Katie rolled her eyes. "Get in," Katie ordered.

Ronnie opened the door and got in the front seat. She tied her seatbelt and smiled at Katie

"Good morning," Ronnie said and Katie started the engine.

"I can see you did quite a good job by trying to be me." Katie complimented.

"Oh, that. I just applied make-up though, and wore this short skimpy dress." Ronnie said, looking at herself.l

"You drive?"Katie asked, driving slowly.

"Nah, I'm not that good though," Ronnie replied.

"Uh, huh," Katie said, nodding.

Katie drove so fast that Ronnie almost had a heart attack.

"Can you slow down a little?" She asked, scared.

"This is the slowest I'm going girl, I want to reach the airport quickly so you can take the car back to the mansion," Katie said, clicking her tongue at the scared Ronnie.

"I know, I still think you should slow down," Ronnie said.

Katie smiled and slowed down, much to Ronnie's relief.

They reached the airport in a few moments and Katie stopped the car.

"We can't be seen together, I have to go now," Katie said, turning to her

"I understand," Ronnie said, a little scared of what she's gonna face now.

Katie started going out of the car.

"When are you planning on coming back?." Ronnie asked, holding Katie's hand

"I'll come soon enough before you get slayed. And please don't touch my hands like that." Katie said and Ronnie immediately let go of her hand.

It's a surprise Katie's still as mean as she can be to her when they were both in a business deal.

"Have fun," Katie said and got out of the car. Ronnie watched as the short-haired wolfy woman, strolled to the airport with her luggage in hand, swaying her hips.

She sighed and sat down on the driver's seat, looked to the passenger's seat, and saw a package there. She opened it and found a short black wig. She then remembered she was still with her long hair. She wore the wig and adjusted it with the help of a mirror. When she was done, she switched on the engine and sped out of the airport's parking lot.

She arrives at the front of the mansion in no time and the gatekeeper opened the gate for her after she'd waited for some seconds.

"Sorry ma'am, I was in the convenience." He explained.

She ignored him and drove in.

"Is something wrong today? She didn't even tell me today." The gatekeeper said in astonishment.

Ronnie slid out of the car after parking properly, she walk into the house with all the maids looking at her curiously but in a sneaky way. She then decided to do what she thought Katie would do.

"Can you guys get back to work? I'm having a hard time breathing with all your stares." She said but insulted no one. They all scurried off.

She smiled within herself and thought she deserves an Oscar for that performance. She went toward Katie's room, now her's for the meantime. She held the doorknob and was about to open it when she thought she had a voice.

"Katie, dear, is that you." Mrs. Philips asked.

"Umm...hi," Ronnie said, unsure of what to say.

Mrs. Philips smiled knowingly and Wales toward her.

"Ronnie, it's you, right? Is my baby girl at the airport already?" Mrs. Philips asked, concerned.

"Yeah, I saw her off myself." She replied.

Mrs. Philips sighed. "I'm sorry if this doesn't go down well with you. It's just that my baby girl wants to become a model by all means and it means a lot to her." Mrs. Philips started. "I want you to endure and ask me for things you find weird. But on no account should anyone find out you aren't Katie, understand me, dear?"

"Yes ma'am," Ronnie replied.

"Don't call me ma'am, Call me mum"

"Yes mum"

"Go on in, you have many things to learn about her."

"Thanks."

Mrs. Philips nodded and started on her way. Ronnie walks into the room and gently lies down on the bed.

"Wish, it's so soft, and big as well." She complimented the big round bed.

Just then, a knock was heard at the door.

"Come in," she said.

Zara, a little hesitant, came in with her head slightly bowed.

"Ma'am, I think you have a call on the house phone." She said.

"Ok, who might that be?" Ronnie asked, unsure

"It's Mr. Damon, your future husband." At the mention of the word, husband, she froze.

"Ok, let me have it." She said, after recovering from the shock.

She retrieved the phone from Zara and picked up the call which was still ringing.

"Hello" she called.

"Why haven't you been picking up my calls?" Damon demanded.

"Huh? ... About that?" She began

"Forget it."He said, cutting her off. "Get ready, in tweeweeks're coming to live with me for our engagement." He said and hung up.
