Chapter 17. Why didn't you kiss him?
Daniel parked his car in front of Ronnie's apartment and loitered. He wanted to surprise her for their date. He wore a grey tuxedo.
He dialed her number and she picked up at the first buzz.
"Hello, are you planning to make me wait at your house for long?" he asked and he felt her gasp.
"I'm so sorry, just give me a minute," Ronnie said and started going through her things. She grabbed a pink tank top and black trousers. She immediately took a quick shower and applied little or no makeup. She walked toward the sitting room and found Daniel with her mother, obviously teasing her as her mother was chuckling at him. She walks up to them and smiled at her mother.
Daniel smiled at her and left his gaze on her face. He could feel his excitement growing underneath but ignored it. "You look dashing." He complimented, not taking his eyes off hers.
"Why, thank you." She replied, smiling shyly. Noticing his stares at her.
They gazed at each other for some moment.
"Quit staring at get your asses out of my house. Go and enjoy yourself, peeps." Bianca pressured.
They both gaped at her and she smiled reassuringly.
Once they were outside, Daniel opened the door to the car for Ronnie and she enters inside. "Ladies first," He said slyly.
"Hey quit doing that, it's just a friendly date and nothing more," Ronnie tells him.
"Hey, don't make me feel bad." He said and made a face like a tiny little child.
Ronnie laughed. "I don't want to laugh,"
"Why,"
"Because you're acting like a child," She said and slid into the car.
Daniel turned around toward the driver's seat.
"Where are we going?" Ronnie asked.
"Somewhere I think you'd like," He replied and winked at her.
"Come on, spill it already." She whined.
"Come on, don't spoil the suspense," he said.
Ronnie made an 'I zip my lips' motion and kept mute.
A few moments later, they arrived at a deserted cafe. They walked toward a table and sat down. A waiter came toward them, smiling. "Hello, what would you like to order." He asked.
Ronnie flipped through the menu but couldn't decide what to order. She looked over to Daniel.
"What would you like to eat or drink?" Daniel said to her.
"I can't seem to decide on what to eat or drink as you had said," She said, stressing the word, said.
He looked over to the waiter and pointed at a particular spot on the menu.
"We'll have this for a start," He said and the waiter nodded and walked out.

Damon's mother, Mrs. Laurel, was in a heated argument with her son.
"You have to marry Sara" She cried out.
"And why would I do that?" He asked and smiled wickedly.
"Because I like her, she's goods enable and decent kid." She said.
"And why have I ever listened to anything you tell me?" He asked.
"Damon, you're going to marry Sara and not that girl." She said, glaring at him like she wanted to swallow him whole.
"No." He yelled back at her. He could already geek his fangs sprawling out, because of his intense anger.
"Why?" She demanded.
"Because I already have someone I want to marry and I don't go back on my word," He said. "Katie, you want to marry her because you claim she's your mate?" She asked.
"I don't think she's my mate. I know she's my mate." He said, assuring himself he was sure.
"Son, how sure are you that she's even your mate? A mate that doesn't regard your mother isn't worth a mate." She said. "Mum, you've never made her feel welcomed the time she came here with her family." He said and started walking out. "That's because she called my food trash" She replied bitterly.
"She said it wasn't delicious like the one she eats at home. Why would you make something we both know I hate? You even made it for our guests." He asked, anger blurring his vision. "I'd rather be dead than watch you marry that woman," She said angrily.
"Then, say hello to dad when you meet your creator. I'm bringing her to the house in two weeks as my bride-to-be." He said.
"What are you saying? You want me dead. What kind of a son wants death for his mother? I wish your dad was here to see what his son had turned into." She wailed.
"I'm sure dad would be proud of the son he'd raised." He said finally and walked off.
"You don't walk out on your mum, Damon." She called out to the already gone Damon.

"Thanks for the date, you made my day, Dan," Ronnie said gratefully.
They just got back from their date and were standing at the front door of her house.
"I'm happy you enjoyed your time spent with me. I hope we do this more often." He said and caresses her cheek.
Ronnie unexpectedleanes forward to his touch. His touch was gentle and soft. She didn't want to be seen as ton eager she leaned back, out of his touch.
"Aren't you coming in?" She asked, concerned.
"Nah, I have the night shift today," he said looking at his watch.
"Oh, then you'd better hurry off then." She said and smiled
He held her hand and held her for a hug. She hugged him back.
"Hope I'll be seeing you often?" He asked.
"I also wish I could see you often. I'll be busy these coming days but I'll make an exception for you." She assured him, still in his embrace. "Thank you." He said.
"For what?" She asked, releasing herself from the hug.
He shrugged. "I think I should say, for making my day."
He began to lean forward toward her and she felt her heart beating faster than earlier.
"Umm...I think I'd best get inside. It's been a nice day but I'm starting to get cold." She said and involuntarily lean back.
A glimpse of disappointment flashed through his eyes but disappeared as soon as it came.
"Umm..." He said, scratching his head. "No problem, I just got carried away."
"Will you go on a date with me next week, I'll be busy with work this week." He said uncertainly.
"Oh..., I try my best to go," she said and smiled weirdly.
He mouthed an okay and smiled.
"I gotta go," She said looking at him.
"Ok, I'll call you tomorrow. Just hope you pick up" He joked.
"I hope so too." She said and smiled at him, this time with more gusto.
She turned the doorknob and started inside. She looked at him and waved. He waved back and she slammed the door behind her.
"Stupid, stupid. How can you try to kiss her on your first date? Now she might not want to go out with you again." Daniel scolded himself once she was out of sight. Ronnie, who just slammed the door sighed in anger.
"Why didn't you let him kiss you? So stupid." She said whispering in annoyance while closing her eyes.
"You didn't kiss him?" Bianca asked surprised.
Ronnie's eyes shot wide open
