When fate plays its hand

When fate plays its hand Chapter 794

Chapter 0794

Sebastian raised an eyebrow. “It’s not impossible, but how exactly to proceed… That needs more discussion.”

Miranda seemed to be deep in thought. Suddenly, both of them turned to her at the same time.

“What…” She chuckled. “Why are you two staring at me like that?”

“Miranda, come up with a plan,” Madison urged. “Let’s help Joli. We must run the tide. End Sophie’s reign early so she doesn’t have a chance to harm the next batch of students.”

Sebastian nodded in agreement. “She’s burned us so many times. It’s about time she paid her dues.”

Miranda’s eyes flickered with thought. “Madison, call Joli and tell him…”

Miranda and Sebastian’s predictions were accurate. When the post first hit the forum, it attracted a lot of attention and generated significant discussion, reaching over 100,000

comments.

But as the days passed with no response from the college or Sophie, and no new shocking revelations, the buzz began to fade. Casual onlookers lost interest and moved on.

With the dwindling heat, Sophie watched the situation unfold, completely unruffled. In fact, she scoffed aloud, exuding disdain.

Yasmine, on the other hand, was a wreck. Ever since Joli’s post appeared, she had been teetering on the edge of a breakdown.

She had cried nonstop for three straight days. Her tears would dry only to flow again. Between sobs, she obsessively refreshed the forum, reading the relentless barrage of hateful comments. Eventually, she passed out from crying from being too overwhelmed. Seeing the pathetic state she was in, Sophie couldn’t hold back her frustration. “You useless girl! I’m not even dead yet, and you’re already mourning me? Are you trying to curse me or just disgust me?”

She marched over and yanked the unconscious Yasmine off the couch. Yasmine let out a sharp gasp as her hair was pulled. “Aunt Sophie, it hurts-”

“Oh, you can feel pain, can you? Too bad!” Sophie snapped. “Cry all you want! You think sobbing like a child will fix this?”

“I… I’m scared…” Yasmine stammered. “Joli, he… he actually filed a real–name complaint and exposed everything we’ve done. Aunt Sophie, will the college expel us?”

“Expel us?” Sophie sneered. “You think they can just fire a senior professor like me? It’s been three days, and have you seen the dean say a word?”

“W–What does that mean?” Yasmine stared in confusion.

“You think I’ve been at Bedford College for this long without building some influence?” Sophie gave a cold laugh. “The administration is still weighing its options. Now that the hype is dying down, all they need to do is drag this out a bit longer until the whole issue quietly fades away.

“I’ll be fine. And so will you. So pull yourself together! Stop looking like your parents just died.”

“Really… We’ll really be okay?” Yasmine hesitated, her voice trembling.

Sophie grabbed her coat and shoes, clearly ready to leave. She didn’t even bother to answer such a foolish question.

“Aunt Sophie, where are you going?” Yasmine asked.

Sophie narrowed her eyes. “Where else? To meet my dear protégé. The one who started this mess!”

At the college, inside her office, Sophie stood across from the slim, defiant boy before her. Her sudden laugh that was sharp and exaggerated broke the silence.

Joli slowly raised his head to meet her gaze directly.

“Well, well,” Sophie began mockingly. “Turns out the quiet dogs bite the hardest. You always seemed so obedient, so unassuming. And yet, when you finally acted, it was with a bang.

“More than 30 pages of allegations–what a masterpiece. So detailed, so precise, and so straight to the point.”
