When fate plays its hand Chapter 752
Chapter 0752
The National Collegiate Life Sciences Competition was held annually nationwide.
Three years ago, it was officially included in the “National Collegiate Competition Rankings” that was published by the research team from Hebrana Higher Education Association on collegiate competitions‘ evaluation and management.
It became one of the newly recognized collegiate competitions endorsed by the Department of Education, and it was also the most prestigious national–level academic competition for college students in the field of life sciences.
The competition was divided into two categories, scientific inquiry and innovative creativity. Both would be held concurrently during the same time period.
This competition aimed to assess the students‘ originality and ability in the experimental research process.
Without a doubt, Miranda and her team were definitely going to participate. As soon as they heard the news, Madison and Sebastian were excitedly rubbing their hands in anticipation. Even if they got nothing else, the extra credit they would get for their final exams was enticing enough.
After all, not everyone was like Miranda. Out of the eight professional courses, she received full marks for five of them and scored above 95 marks for the remaining three courses.
Madison’s average was 85 for the final exam this semester, but she applied for extra credit due to her academic output and thesis publications. Her final GPA was 4.0, equivalent to an average score of 90 marks.
Sebastian had a GPA of 4.2, or an average score of 92 marks, after adding his extra credit.
Both of them had tasted the benefits of having extra credit, so how could they pass up such a good opportunity to get more this time?
As for Miranda… Her goal was on the challenge itself. The extra credit was just a side benefit.
Madison thought, “How demoralizing.”
On the other hand, Sebastian thought, “I guess I’m just too shallow.”
While they were eager to give the competition a shot, Sophie’s team was just as excited. Tina’s eyes were shining with anticipation, and Yasmine let out a sigh of relief.
Although she wouldn’t have any papers published for the time being, winning an award in the national competition would be enough to maintain her reputation as a genius.
Everyone dispersed after the monthly meeting ended. They formed groups of twos and threes as they went, and the main topic on everyone’s lips was related to the competition.
The next day, Miranda, Madison, and Sebastian formally submitted their application forms. While registering, Miranda unintentionally caught sight of the information on Sophie’s team.
To her surprise, Joli’s name was among the group. However, Yasmine’s name was listed as the principal investigator. Joli only participated as a member of the project.
On second thought, he was already in his final year of graduate school. He didn’t really need to join a competition like this, so he was probably just acting as a guide or consultant in the team. It made sense for him to be listed as a
member.
Still, having Yasmine as the principal investigator…
Miranda clicked her tongue.

Madison overheard and turned to look at her. “What’s the matter, Miranda?”
“It’s nothing. I’m just feeling a little pensive.”
“Pensive? About what?”
Miranda replied, “One’s hard work may not pay off even after putting in a lot of effort. Instead, your hard work may just end up benefiting others who don’t deserve it.”
If Joli wouldn’t do anything to get out of this situation himself, no one could lend him a helping hand.
Meanwhile, Tina burst through the door of Sophie’s office in the administrative building. She was so forceful that the door slammed against the wall with a loud bang.
“Sophie, do you really think I wouldn’t dare to report you?” Tina shouted.
“What’s your problem? Are you trying to look for trouble by barging into my office like a maniac?” Sophie wasn’t an easy one to handle either.
Ever since she succeeded in putting Tina in her place last time, Sophie had her all figured out. Tina was all bark but no bite. She didn’t have the guts to pull her down and perish together. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have waited until now.
Tina lifted her chin slightly and crossed her arms. “What’s your deal with appointing Yasmine as principal investigator for the competition? Who does she think she is? What right does she have to be the leader?”
“Heh, if not her, then who? You? You’ve got to be kidding me!”
“You-”
Sophie slapped away the finger Tina was pointing at her and sneered, “What do you have to say? Have you published a paper? Do you have any academic output worth mentioning? If you want to be the principal investigator, you need to earn the respect of the team first.
