Chapter °23•Resonates
As he speaks, I can smell the alcohol on his breath. Scratch that. He doesn’t need to talk for me to smell it. But most importantly, what the fuck is he doing here? But that’s not what’s worrying me the most is that I just answered the freaking door with no pants on, and the way he’s looking at me right now is creeping me out.
As I snap out of shock, I close the door in his face. He’s faster than me and shoves the door with force, and I back up as I try to regain my balance. Luckily, I succeeded in staying on my feet. He takes advantage of this and steps into my apartment.
Damn it, why did I have to crave that bagel so much? Levi would be with me right now. Wait, Levi. He will be back, so all I have to do is stall until he comes to my rescue.
“How, how come you’re here, Davis? I thought you were arriving with the Coyotes.” I say as I try not to show how scared I am of him.
“Who cares about the Coyotes? I wanted to see you.”
“How did you find out where I live?” I have to keep him busy. I just hope my luck doesn’t run out.
Maybe I can run for the door? No, he's too close to it. What should I do? What should I do? The kitchen? The knives? No, definitely not. I don’t want to risk my life.
“I was at Judy’s house. I excused myself to go to the bathroom. I came across her cell phone. That stupid bitch didn’t have a password, so I searched your name, found your address and here I am.” He’s drunk. I’ve never seen him like this, ever.
At that moment, I see my cell lying on the couch. I have to be careful, so he doesn’t get suspicious if I can just get to it.
“So, does Katy know where you are?” Fudge, why did I ask that?
“Princess, why do you want to know about her? It’s because of her we aren't married today.”
Eww. Princess. Before all of this, I loved that nickname, but now, the way he says it makes my body shiver and not in a good way.
That’s it. A little closer, almost there. All I have to do is take five more steps, and I will have it in my hand, but in this situation, it’ll take forever to reach it.
“You know, I saw you dancing with him. What was his name again? Ah, yes, Levi. Let me tell you, you looked like a slut dancing like that with him.” His comment has me freezing on the spot. So he’s the one I felt staring at me at the bar.
“Before, you were a decent good girl. My good princess, and now look at you, you’re trash. Do your parents know what you have become?” Davis glares at me.
Fuck you!
That dick! Who does he think he is, coming to my apartment like he owns the place and judging me? He has no right.
Breathe, breathe, breathe. Now is not the time to snap at him. I have to reach my cell so I can call Levi. That’s my only goal right now. Breath, that’s it, nice and easy.
“What do you think you’re doing?” He raises his voice.
I clear my throat. “My feet are killing me. I just want to sit for a while.”
Davis nods. “Yes, you’re right. We should sit and discuss what we're going to do about those two so we can be together.”
He’s drunk and delusional.
While I sit, I try not to make a sudden movements. I don’t know how Davis will act, as I’ve never seen him like this before. This is not the Davis I once knew.
“Davis, can you be a dear and fetch me a glass of water? My throat is killing me, and I have to make it better if you want to have this talk. Glasses are on the top shelf to the right. I know I can count on you.” That’s it, Tory, butter him up.
“Of course, princess, right away.” He says happily.
The moment he turns around, I take the opportunity to grab my cell and hurry the fuck up to call Levi. It’s easier said than done when my hands are shaking with fear. I finally find him and press his name. I don’t wait to see if Levi answers. I hide it behind me. It’s the best I can do right now.
“What the fuck? So you think you can distract me so you can call him? HIM!?” He shouts as he takes my cell and throws it away from us.
As he shoves me over the couch, I struggle to push him away from me, but to no avail. At some point in his drunken state, he struggles to stay balanced. So as he leans down, I see the opportunity and don't wait as I put both of my feet on his chest and push with all the strength I possess.
Thank you, yoga!
I jump from the couch before he even touches the ground. When my hand barely touches the door handle, I feel pain at the back of my head as he grabs my hair forcefully from behind.
“We could’ve played nicely, but if you want it rough, then let’s have it rough. I don't mind rough. I dreamed of doing you this way for so long.”
He pushes me back with force, up against the same wall Levi and I occupied both no long before.
“Davis, this isn’t you. Why? Why are you acting this way?” I manage to say painfully.
“Shut up! Just shut up!” With each word, he hits my head against the wall over and over.
Levi, if you hear me, please hurry up. I don’t know how much longer I can keep up.
My body begins to fall to the ground when he releases his hold on me. He grabs me by my throat and readjusts my body against the wall. I wish I could be strong like the women I read about in the books.
“Oh no, princess. We aren’t done yet.” He says mockingly, like a maniac. He licks his lips as if I’m his next meal.
“I have to thank you for making it so easy for me. Oh, I can’t wait to have those legs around me again.” I feel his finger crawl along the top of my panties as darkness invades my mind and soul.
