Chapter 11: Ch 10
"You have to tell Tate," Tom said biting into his sandwich as we sat in the kitchen.
"You have to tell him how cool it is!" Eddie said bouncing in his seat as a huge smile lit up his face.
"I know and I will-" I began but the two excited boys wouldn't let me.
"Elina you do realize there's only four Elementals in the entire world," Tom said and my eyes widened.
Only four Elementals? No wonder everyone's wary about this Adrian and his fire Elemental.
I mentally scoffed at that. Fire against water? I see myself winning there.
"Only four?" I asked my full attention on Tom now.
"Fire, water, earth and air," he said lifting up one finger for each word.
"It makes sense that we have a water Elemental-" he said giving me a pointed look, "-you. This place is all snow and water and-"
before he could continue I raised my hand to silence him and his mouth shut tight.
"So that's why they made us go into the forest area," I said looking at Tom who gave me a confused look while Eddie sat there
silently.
"The Elemental can't use fire here, it'll just melt or get put out because of the snow," I said slowly.
"Oh no," Tom suddenly said.
"What?" I asked immediately cautious as I looked around the room.
"We have to go see the alpha," he said jumping off of his seat while I just stood there confused.
"Now," he said more firmly and I put my hands up in mock surrender as I trailed behind him, stopping next to Eddie.
"You go play with your cars. This is big people talk," I said with a smile and Eddie rolled his eyes but smiled either way as he
made his way to his room.
Tom and I walked down the many halls and made it in front of Tate's office. We stood in front of his door and stopped. We looked
at each other expectantly waiting for the other one to knock.
"Go on! Knock!" I said sick of waiting as I motioned towards the door.
"Me? Your his mate, you knock," he said crossing his arms over his chest shrugging his shoulders.
"So what? You've been here longer than me," I said sticking my tongue out at him.
He raised his eyebrows in amusement as he said, "He likes you better then me."
Sighing with an eye roll I stepped forward and knocked on the door.
"You're such a child," I said disapprovingly shaking my head.
"What! Me?" Tom said in disbelief while I smirked opening the door and walking in.
I walked in with Tom right behind me. Tate looked up at us with amusement as Tom and I sat in the seats across him.
"You know, either of you could've knocked. I don't bite," Tate said leaning back in his chair.
I looked at Tom and gave him a 'I told you so' look while he did the same.
My gaze fell back on Tate and I sighed as my body shuddered when his gaze fell on mine as well.
"Alpha, I might know when Adrian and his Elemental plan to attack," Tom said and my gaze snapped to his, curious.
"As you know we have two seasons. Winters finishing and.." Tom trailed off looking at Tate who put the pieces together.
"Summers beginning. The snow starts melting," Tate paused, "-today."
We all looked at each other silently. This meant Adrian and his fire Elemental would most likely attack within the week.
Great. If I have no snow or water then how could I possibly be any help.
Tom seemed to know what I was thinking because he gave me a reassuring look and opened his mouth to speak.
"But were not completely defenceless. The snow built over the river that circles the building, and once the snow melts-"
"We will have plenty off water that we can use to our advantage," Tate finished off nodding his head in thought.
"Tom, I'd like you to inform your brother to maintain the warrior wolves. As beta he should know but please do remind him. Also
let my father know about this," Tate said with a nod of his head.
"Tate," I said a little breathlessly from all the information, "-I need to tell you something."
"Alpha, Luna. I'll go and notify the others now," Tom suddenly said and I would have strangled him right there if I were able to.
How dare he leave me to explain by myself?
Sending him a glare I turned back around to face Tate who noticed our exchanged and tilted his head slightly.
"Elina, what is it?" Tate said, worry lacing his tone as he appeared in front of me kneeling down to my level since I was seated.
"I don't know how to tell you," I said in a low whisper.
Suddenly a thought occurred to me. If I couldn't tell him, surely I could show him.
"Tate, is there water nearby?" I beamed my eyes lighting up in excitement.
"Why? Are you thirsty? Would you like some water?" He said standing up and I quickly shook my head no.
"Just follow me."
Grabbing his hand I lead him outside. Once we were outside I walked towards the river Tom lead me to earlier.
Tate intwined our fingers together and walked closely by my side. I felt his breath on my neck and shuddered in pleasure.
Looking up I saw we arrived at the river and I cleared my throat making Tate grin.
"What did you want to show me?" He said in that low masculine voice of his and I had to stop myself from melting.
"Well," I said clapping my hands, "-here goes nothing."
Turning towards the river, my back was faced towards Tate. I slowly began to lift my hand but stopped when a hard chest was
against my back.
"What is it?" He breathed into my ear as his hands rested on either side of my waist.
Not answering him, I took in a deep breath and lifted up my hand.
I watched as the water in the river rose. I twirled my hand around and the water mimicked my motions.
I couldn't see Tate's reaction but I felt the grip on my hips tighten.
Motioning my hands back down the water went down and I took in a shaky breath as I turned around ever so slowly.
I held my breath as I waited for Tate to say something. My chest was flush against his and he stared at the river while I looked
into his hazel eyes.
He sharply breathed out through his nose as his eyes found mine.
"You're an Elemental?" He said slowly his words coming out as a question.
"I think, I mean yeah I guess I am," I said tripping over my words.
"I just found out a few days ago," I said when he didn't say anything else and I began to get nervous.
I waited for him to say something but he didn't.
"I can help, when Adrian and his Elemental come I can help," I said and his eyes snapped to mine.
"I don't want you to help," he said his jaw clenched and his arms wrapping around my waist even tighter.
"Why not?" I asked bewildered. He had a shot, an Elemental on his side to. Now they were even.
And he didn't want me to help? Gee that mad a lot of sense.
"And risk you getting hurt?" He said in a growl and it made a million butterflies erupt in my stomach.
"Tate.." I trailed off.
"No. When the fight takes place you won't be anywhere near it," he said firmly and I rolled my eyes.
"Nothing will happen to me either way. But it might to you and the other wolves," I said placing my hand on his chest rubbing
soothing circles.
"I mean think about it. Fire against water? Surely water will extinguish it right?" I said and he stared into my eyes listening.
"Everything will be fine," I said smiling.
He didn't say anything but I didn't miss the slight nod of his head that made my smile widen.
I kissed his cheek gently and he gave me a breath taking smile.
