Chapter 61 

Naomi spoke in a calm tone, as casual as one would comment on the pleasant weather. 

Javier was a selfish man, who, upon discovering Victoria’s betrayal and that Rosalind wasn’t his daughter, would unleash his fury and then set about mitigating his losses. All the money he’d spent on Victoria and Rosalind was sure to be reclaimed by him in a rage. 

Naomi’s return at this time was to both enjoy the show and to remind Javier not to damage Rosalind too severely injured goods wouldn’t fetch a high price. After all, in Naomi’s past life, Rosalind had been “dear” to her in the same way.

Javier squinted his eyes, he had been puzzled by Naomi’s sudden boldness in refusing to give Rosalind blood. Turned out she knew about Rosalind’s true parentage. 

“Dad, the 15 million dollars from Mr. Quinn can only temporarily alleviate the crisis, but it won’t solve the company’s problems completely. After all, Rosalind has eaten at our table and taken our money for medical expenses for so many years. Now that she’s better, it’s only fair she contributes to your cause, Naomi added. 

Naomi continued unhurriedly, “And as for Victoria, Dad, you’ve pampered and loved her for years, letting her indulge in fine clothes and luxury goods, all while using your money to go shopping and buy property. Although he was all meek and deferential in front of Shawn, he was downright runhless with the women at home, showing no mercy or favor. Javier had harbored similar notions, but hearing them voiced by someone else–Naomi–stirred a different impact 

Naomi wasn’t afraid of Javier suspecting her ulterior motives. After all, her backing came from Shawn. Even if Javier knew she was stirring the pot. he wouldn’t dare lash out at her. Shawn had sent Ellen to stick close under the pretense of being Naomi’s assistant, but in truth, he was a bodyguard and a constant surveillance fixture. 

Naomi was testing the waters to see how far Shawn’s tolerance went. Every move she made was reported back to Shawn. However, he not only refrained from scolding her but also seemed to covertly help her. It indicated that Shawn was aware of her actions, and, shockingly, he seemed to connive her. 

“Naomi, you’ve got a point. So, tell me, which CEO could lend a helping hand to me at this time?” Javier waved Naomi over. “Come to sit. I’ve wronged you all these years. I admit, I was swayed by Victoria’s manipulations and forced you to give blood to Rosalind.” 

Naomi went past Victoria and Rosalind and took a seat across from Javier. Her lips quirked upward slightly in amusement. He sure changed his tune quickly, it was faster than flipping through a book. Just before, Javier wanted her dead for refusing to donate blood to Rosalind. But now he was playing the innocent and aggrieved card! 

“Nami, just say what you want. I have neglected you over the years. I hope it’s not too late to make amends now,” Javier said with a guilty expression. As he spoke, his eyes never left Naomi, knowing if he could just appease hier enough to coax some money out of Shawn for the company or get a word in Shawn’s favor, the company’s problems would be solved in a heartbeat. 

In two time at all, Javier had made his comparisons in his mind Victoria, who betrayed him, and the child born out of wedlock, Rosalind, were completely abandoned by him. On the other hand, the orphan Naomi seemed like someone he could still try to win over.

Naomi had suffered immensely in her past life; now, it was time for Rosalind and Victoria to walk in her shoes. 

“Dad. I have to head back now. If 1 return late, Mr. Fischer won’t be pleased,” Naomi said, having watched enough of the drama and delivered the cards. She stood up, ready to leave. 

Looking down on Rosalind and Victoria, Naomi scomed, “You two ungrateful wolves, biting the hand that fed you. My dad was so good to you, and you’ll never be able to repay him for everything in this lifetime” With that, she called Ellen to leave. 

Having Ellen around, Naomi didn’t have to bother Chandler for some matters and Information; Ellen was just as capable. 

“Ellen, do you think Javier will send Rosalind and Victoria to those bosses‘ beds?” she asked. 

Ellen nodded. “I posed as a maid in the Edwards manor for a few days. So I know that Javier will do it. He is the kind of person who places interests above all. He is arrogant and self–absorbed. Victoria betrayed him, and he’ll never forgive her. He will definitely trade her off to his advantage.” 

A sly smile crept to Naomi’s lips. “He didn’t even suspect that Rosalind is his daughter?” 

“He did suspect. He took some of Rosalind’s hair and his own for a new paternity test, but his hair sample got switched with dog fur,” answered.

Ellen filled Naomi in with the details. They were keeping a close eye on the Edwards family. Javier’s hair got switched with dog fur paternity test that showed he wasn’t Rosalind’s biological father.

wrong way. The Edwards family’s business suddenly hit major snags, and Miguel kept provoking them, causing Javier’s temper to become violent and cruel. What Naomi saw today was a common occurrence at the Edwards manor recently 

Javier locked up both Victoria and Rosalind. Miguel came by several times, yelling and making a scene outside until Javier had his people capture him and then beat him in front of Victoria viciously, 

He even called Victoria’s parents over and threw the paternity test results of Rosalind and Miguel in their faces, demanding they pay back all the money he had spent on their family over the years. 

Victoria’s parents immediately wanted to strangle her, cursing Miguel for seducing their daughter and pleading with Javier to forgive her just this once, claiming her youth and naivety led her to be swayed by Miguel. 

Javier just sneered and issued an ultimatum. They had one week to repay the money, or he would continue to beat both Victoria and Rosalind until paid in full. After that, he would divorce Victoria, but she would leave with nothing. 

As for Miguel who claimed to love Victoria, the moment he heard about the debt, he disappeared without a trace the next day. Childhood sweetheart? His own daughter? Worthless to him when weighed against money When the Ford family found out, they flew into another rage. 

But all the yelling was useless If they wanted to keep Victoria as their daughter, they had to cough up the cash. They didn’t want to pay, intending to stall, hoping possibly that Javier’s years of affection for Victoria might make him forgive her. 

The money Javier gave the Ford family was long spent, given to their younger son, who now lived a carefree life far away with houses and cars. Victoria’s parents observed for a few days and were ready to skip town any time. 

Naomi was taken aback when Ellen filled her in–Victoria had a brother. In her previous life, she was taken from the orphanage by Victoria and Javier and had visited the Ford residence with Victoria and Rosalind, which consisted of just the parents, with no others around. She had never heard Victoria mention having a brother, so she’d always assumed Victoria was the only child. 

“Victoria’s parents are no good either. Victoria definely won’t have it easy this time,” Ellen summed up. “Ms. Edwards, tonight, the Boss will take you to watch quite the drama unfold” 

Naori nodded. “Should we head back to the Spring Villa now!?

Ellen took Naomi to Fabulous Dazzle in Atopan, the most prestigious styling studio owned by the Fischer Group. It was where all the big shots went for styling before hitting the red carpet. The lead stylist at Fabulous Dazzle, Linda Ellen, was not only expensive but also hard to make an appointment with–her schedule was full up until next year. 

Upon arrival at Fabulous Dazzle, they were ushered straight into Linda’s office. Linda was in the middle of styling a celebrity and gestured for them to wait a moment. While waiting. Ellen and Naomi browsed through Fabulous Dazzle. Eventually, Linda’s assistant came to fetch them.

They were led to another room where Linda, sipping her coffee, stood up when she saw Naomi, “Ms. Edwards, let’s start with picking out your 

Linda, with her short hair, was wearing a rose pink chiffon blouse with the sleeves rolled up, revealing a hint of her slender waist above the white liner. She was clad in ankle–length trousers, and on her feet were a pair of high–heeled sandals, presenting a crisp and efficient air about her. 

“Chandler let me know you were coming, just tell me any specific requests you have, Ms. Edwards, said Linda. 

“Thank you, but I trust your judgment,” Naomi responded. 

Linda took a second look at Naomi. She had braced herself for a diva with a capital ‘D‘, like Cheryl, who used her pull with Shawn to act all high and mighty. Cheryl would usually stomp into Fabulous Dazzle, demanding, dismissing, and downplaying everyone’s efforts. Hearing “thank you” come out of her mouth would have been a miracle. Hit Naomi seemed different. 

Naoma was gracious and polite and her smile was so comforting to see. After dealing with Cheryl’s attitude previously, Linda’s attitude and impression towards her had become much better 

“You have such a fresh and clean look, Ms. Edwards, but when you wear make–up, your presence will be stunning and dazzle everyone. I’ve seen the ads and photos you did for Elaine Jewelry, Linda said as she handed Naomi a glass of milk and gave Ellen a cup of coffee. 

“Chandler mentioned that all you’d need, Ms. Edwards, was some light makeup and a nice outfit to wear, Linda continued.
