Chapter 42
“Sure thing! Just transfer the money to me right away,” Naomi agreed without hesitation. Her livestream really got Rosalind on edge.
Gritting her teeth, Rosalind transferred 1.5 million dollars to Naomi. With a wide grin, Naomi checked her account and said, “Meet me at River Café. You’ve got 30 minutes. And I won’t wait a second longer.”
Naomi hung up before Rosalind could get a word in.
River Café was just down the hill from Spring Villa, but quite a distance from the Edwards manor. There was no way Rosalind could make it in 30 minutes unless she sped.
Taking her sweet time, Naomi changed clothes. An hour later, she casually drove off in her white Ferrari. Meanwhile, Rosalind kept ringing Naomi, who just wouldn’t pick up.
When Naomi got to River Café, she found Rosalind there waiting, looking furious.
Rosalind’s face darkened further at the sight of the flashy Ferrari. “Rosalind, you’re late,” she said.
Naomi chuckled, “Rosalind, you sure you wanna keep up this sisterly act?”
“Naomi, what’s your game?” Rosalind gritted her teeth, unable to keep up the charade anymore. “What are you up to? I promised you money, why go live?”
“I’m just enjoying myself. It’s none of your business,” Naomi retorted with a smirk. She was in a great mood after pocketing 1.5 million dollars.
Naomi continued, “I had no idea you were such a big fan of my comics, Rosalind. All the subscriptions and tips haven’t even made me 1.5 million dollars yet. Since you love my comics so much, how about I just sell them to you?”
Rosalind looked at Naomi skeptically. After all they’d been through, she didn’t trust Naomi’s sudden generosity.
“What now?” Rosalind asked.
“Let’s go inside and talk it out,” Naomi suggested casually.
Naomi led the way into the café. It was nearly evening, and the place was empty. She chose a table by the window without opting for a private
room.
“Rosalind, your treat,” Naomi declared.
“Why should I? You just took 1.5 million dollars from me,” Rosalind shot back.
“Fine, I’m leaving,” Naomi said as she got up, ready to walk out without looking back.
Rosalind grabbed Naomi’s arm, swallowing her pride. “I’ll treat, okay?”
Naomi grabbed the menu and ordered the priciest dishes and drinks. Even though Rosalind loved the comics and the fans‘ praise, she wouldn’t spend a fortune on this. But now, having boasted to Dillon, she had to deal with Naomi to back up her tall tales.
Dillon’s fake identity was arranged by Naomi’s friend Chandler. Not even Freddy could figure out Dillon was pretending to be from the wealthy Patterson family in Woodan.
Rosalind always thought marrying into Woodan’s Patterson family would secure her a spot in high society. To cater to what Dillon said his mother liked, she had to swallow her pride and beg Naomi over and over again.
Naomi picked up a glass of milk and sipped gently. At Spring Villa, Carla only ever gave her milk, So, Naomi knew Shawn wouldn’t allow her to drink coffee. She avoided anything that might upset Shawn.
Watching Naomi leisurely sip milk at a

Rosalind help but think Naomi was off her rocker.
I will it take for you to the comic’s authorship to me and keep drawing?”
Naomi quietly sipped her milk, ignoring Rosalind.
Fuming, Rosalind dug her nails into her palms. She slammed her hand down on the table and snapped, “Naomi, don’t push your luck.”
Naomi finally looked up, a mocking smile on her face. “I find it strange, Rosalind. You always get what you want. Why are you so desperate for my
comic?”
“None of your business. Just name your price,” Rosalind demanded.
Naomi stared back at Rosalind. She knew from Dillon that Rosalind’s health had improved, and she no longer needed emergency transfusions.

Chapter 42
Naomi thought to herself, ‘Rosalind took so much blood from me, even when she’s better she still wants to keep draining me. With Rosalind being so malicious, I can’t let her off easy. Or I’d be betraying my rebirth.‘
“Return all the blood I gave you, and I’ll transfer the comic to you,” Naomi stated.
All the while, Naomi kept a voice recorder running. Every word Rosalind said could be evidence later.
Rosalind clenched her teeth. “Are you insane? How can I possibly return that? Do you want to kill me?”
“When the Edwards used me as your blood bank, they didn’t worry about killing me,” Naomi retorted.
Naomi kept it casual, saying, “Rosalind, if you can’t take my terms, just stop hassling me. I owe nothing to the Edwards family.
“Every time you stand on your high horse, accusing me like a saint, I find it ridiculous. By the way, I’ve had a DNA test with your parents. Turns out, I’m not an Edwards.”
Putting her milk down, Naomi glared at Rosalind. “I get it now. Javier and Victoria took me from the orphanage but never loved me. They just used me for my blood for you. They treated me worse than an animal, and you still think you’re my sister?”
Rosalind’s pupils shrank as she wondered how Naomi could know she wasn’t really an Edwards.
Naomi’s heart jolted. She had never actually taken a DNA test. After she left the Edwards family, she hadn’t thought about not being their kid. But Rosalind’s reaction almost confirmed it.
Naomi had bluffed to see Rosalind’s reaction, and it was more revealing than expected.
Naomi thought, ‘So I need to visit SafeHarbor Children’s Home and the Edwards manor again. I must get hair samples from Javier and Victoria to prove I’m not an Edwards‘
Shock and fear gripped Rosalind. If it came out that Naomi wasn’t from the Edwards family, all the things they had done to Naomi over the years would be exposed. Then everyone would despise them. Anyway, with the recent cyberbullying, Rosalind was barely hanging on..
“Naomi, you’re talking nonsense. How could you not be our parents‘ child? If not, why do we share the same rare blood?” Rosalind said, her face pale and her voice losing strength from fear. She was terrified of the possibility of Naomi not being from the Edwards family being exposed.
“Really?” Naomi tapped the table with her fingers, a trick she picked up from Shawn. Naomi felt that whenever Shawn did that, pressure and uncertainties came to her. And now, it was enough to deepen Rosalind’s panic.
“Ye… Yes,” Rosalind managed to say, now too worried to care about the comic. She needed to break this news to her parents fast.
“If you’re so doubtful, let’s go home and take the DNA test now,” Rosalind suggested, her voice tinged with unease.
