Chapter 162

After handing the documents to John, Shawn ruled imo a chair as a waiter served him a drink and then melted back into the background John, dazed and in agony, lay on the ground, struggling to rise. Chandler looked down at him with disdain. “Study the documents carefully, then commit them to memory. If you slip up, you know the drill

John nodded frantically. “Yes, yes, yes” From his place on the ground, he pored over the documents, then focused on memorizing them. Once he was confident he’d remembered everything, he dared to look up. “Sir, I’ve got it all down.”

Chandler retrieved the documents. “If you’ve truly memorized it then it’s time to put on a show,”

Yyes, yes,” John stammered.

“Get out of here!” Shawn ordered.

“Y–yes, thank you, sir. Thank you, sir.” John gritted his teeth against the pain, pulled himself up, and limped away.

Shawn finished his coffee, checked his phone, and found emails from the office, calls, and messages from Barbara. He dealt with them one by one. but there was nothing from Naomi Shawn frowned. What game is she playing? Knowing I am around, she’s not even thinking of spending more time with me! he thought. “Chandler, find out where Naomi is now.”

“Yes, sir.” Chandler dialed Naomi immediately. “Ms. Edwards, where are you?”

“I’m at the Hopper residence, digging into some barbecue. What’s up? Naomi was savoring a piece of beef, and Jessie had mixed her a dipping sauce with just the right ratios that tasted better than anything she’d ever had. “Chandler, want to come over and join us? We’ve got plenty of food”

Jessie picked out a piece of fish meat for her. “All the bones are out. Enjoy.”

“Thanks, Jessic, Naomi said.

Chandler’s phone had been taken over by Shawn, so he overheard Naomi’s later invitation and her conversation with Jessie. The man’s expression darkened; Naomi invited Chandler but didn’t even consider him. Great, just great. “Naomi having a blast, I seef

Naomi was taken aback for a moment, then she straightened up. “Mr. Fischer, are you up for some barbecue too! I’ll swing by and get you. I wanted to call, but I figured you were swamped, and didn’t want to intrude or waste your precious time. Truth is, I really wanted to invite you.”

Shawn felt Naomi was laying it on thick, but he didn’t want to call her out. I’m not into barbecue. Once you’re done, get back here?

Okay, Mr. Fischer Naomi hung up the phone. “Keep eating.”

Jessie put down her fork. “Naomi, you seem so submissive around Shawn”

Naomi nodded. “Got no choice. Don’t we have to play along and fool Irena for cash? Shawn still needs to be charmed”

“Naomi, have you ever thought about setting up shop in Back? I can lend a hand, Jessie said earnestly, looking at her. The two had grown closer through their scheme to trick Irena’s money. At least now Naomi was willing to consider her a friend.

Naomi didn’t respond but seriously pondered the possibility. She’s a designer and a comic artist, as long as she has a computer, pen, and notebook, she can work from anywhere. But, Naomi Design is in Atopar

“Let’s see about the opportunity later!” Naomi said, “Come on, cat. After this. I’ll go to Shawn, and Jessie, you set up the meeting”

“Alright, no worries”

After having the barbecue, Naomi drove to the address Shawn had sent, while Jessie went to reach out to a bar. As for Coco, Naomi and Jessic agreed not to bring her into this

Upon arriving at the golf course, Naomi was shown in after stating her name. Shawn wasn’t teeing off but was seated in the lounge, lost in thought.

Naomi approached and sweetly said, “Mr. Fischer.

Shawn glanced at her, “Done with the barbecue!”

Naomi nodded, “Yes, Mr. Fischer. Got a moment today?”

Shawn looked at her. For what?”

Naomi smiled and took his arm, I want Mr. Fischer to take me out for a good time.

Where to!” Shawn seemed quite intrigued. “Aren’t you swamped?”“”

“I’ve been buried for over a month and neglected you. I’m feeling guilty!”

Shawn snored, the guilt was nice, the barbecue’s aroma still lingered, and she didn’t think to invite him when she was feasting; he really couldn’t see where her guilt was.

“Mr. Fischer, take me out for some fun!” Naomi pleaded. 1 heard there’s a cool bar around, never been to one before! Mr. Fischer, will you take me to broaden my horizons! Especially, I heard their fruit platter and special snacks are to die for. I’m jonesing for them and want a taste.”

Naomi knew that Shawn enjoyed feeding her; as long as she mentioned food, he’d likely agree. As expected, after a moment’s thought, Shawn agreed. “Alright, let’s go!”

“Okay, thank you, Mr. Fischer. She happily took his arm, a smile never leaving her face.

Seeing her so elated, Shawn couldn’t help but let the corners of his mouth curl up, no longer bothered that she had neglected him before The two left the golf course, and once in the car, Naomi mentioned the bar’s name. The bar was called Beloved and nestled in a renowned local forest park,

After Shawn took Naomi to the spot, she first took a leisurely stroll through the forest park. The park also housed many small animals like deer, rabbits, lambs, peacocks, and parrots, all relatively docile creatures. Naomi even bought some carrots to feed these critters.

Shawn stood by, quietly observing her.

“Mr. Fischer, are you a fan of small animale” Naomi tried to engage Shawn while feeding the animals.

“Not particularly

Naomi tilted her head, seemingly not convinced.

Shawn had only ever had a hamster as a child, a gift from his mother, but sadly, being too young at the time, he failed to protect it. Since then, he never had pets again. Until he met Naomi.

Done feeding? If you are, let’s

“Oh, okay” Naoms quickly fed the remaining carrots from her hand, clapped them clean, and took Shawn’s arm, strolling slowly along the stone path in the forest. In the evening, this place is hit up with tiny colored lights, and there’s a man–made lake over there where you can paddle about to pick lotus seeds. Naomi led Shawn to the artificial lake. “Mr. Fischer, look, there’s a couple doing a photoshoot”

This forest park, with its picturesque scenery of trees, flowers, water, and animals, along with some charming buildings and the iconic Beloved bar. often attracted many wedding shops for photo sessioni

Lepes grew

Shawn wasn’t into these things, but as he watched the newlyweds posing in the distance, he didn’t know what came over him, and his e distant

Naomi watched for a bit then pulled Shawn into the Beloved bar.

It was still early, so the bar wasn’t packed, and there was no thumping music. The bartender was dying up when he noticed the newcomers and offered a greeting.

The bar’s decor was cozy, without too many ostentatious decorations. There was a wall plastered with various colored heart–shaped post–it notes. inscribed with love vows or sweet nothings. Naomi pulled Shawn over to see, looking quite intrigued and eager to contribute

Shawn glanced at the messages on the postit notes and scoffed, “Nomi are you into this mushy stuff?“

“Mr. Fischer, isn’t it romantic” Naomi’s face lit up with a yearning. “Each note is a beautiful love story!”

Shawn coldly retorted, “How many of these end up with a lifetime of togetherness, free from betrayal and separation? How many of the wives who stand by their men through thick and thin are rewarded? And how many men truly remember the woman who’s been by their side?”

Shawn’s words were a harsh reality check, though it was unclear who he was referring to. But Naomi took them to heart. She looked up at him and said. “So. Mr. Fischer, you’re telling me not to be a dreamer about love, right? And that men can’t be trusted. Sweet words are like poison. The more easily swallowed, the more painful and swift the downfall, right?”

“Did I say that?” Shawn pulled her away from the confession wall, and they sealed into a booth. “Naomi, what’s your real agenda today?”

Naomi eyed the pole on the stage. “Mr. Fischer, see that! Give me a sec” She got up and disappeared, soon reappearing on stage. She’d changed into a black bodysuit, black hot pants, and knee–high boots, revealing a half–section of her snow–white, slender waist. Holding the pole with both hands, she swung her long hair and began an exhilarating pole dance.

A surge of anger that couldn’t be contained welled up in Shawn’s eyes. He’d never known Naomi could have such a passionate and Gery side. However, she shouldn’t be so daring in a bar.

Naomi danced around the pole with the grace of a water snake, her body’s advantages on full display. She spiraled down the pole, and once on the ground, she grasped in and spun up dercely. Her seaweed–like long hair thuttered in the air, and her small, cold face was smiking-

Shawn crushed the glass in his hand with a snap. He stood up and made his way towards the stage. Before he could reach it, he heard Naomi shout.

Shawn, come on! Let’s have some fun.”

The upbeat music started just right, and the dazzling lights flashed, Unnoticed, the crowd had begun to thicken, dancing on the floor to the deafening music.

Shawn was halted by the throng, his gaze fixed on Naomi, his aura terrifyingly cold.

Seeing that it was about time, Naconi stepped down from the stage, approached Shawn, and was pulled by him and led outside.
