Chapter Chapter Nine
“We need a team name,” I declared. “A good one, too. And it has to be original.”
Lance raised his hand, and slowly lowered it after I remarked ‘original,’ since he’s a huge Marvel fan.
Kira, however, had no such qualms. “The Technopaths, Amalga-Killers, The Mysterious Society of X, The Unstoppable, or the Tech Wizards.”
I’m sorry, but every single one of those is something I would never, ever, deign to accept even as a candidate for our team name. NO. A.V.A remarked.
“Ouch,” Lance stated. “Do we even have to have a name?”
“You know, some of the best things you ever remarked came out when you weren’t expecting them, Lance. You’re a genius! We are the Nameless…”
I must admit, that does fit… it doesn’t imply what we are doing, but that is the point… our name will still have worth after this endeavor. And it implies that we are anonymous, to be left alone… I approve of this name. A.V.A concurred.
“It does sound cool, and I’ll vote for it. But Amalga-Killers is still amazing.” Kira pouted. “Ha! You’re outvoted by your own idea, Lance- we are, quite literally, nameless. “
“Nameless it is, then. Now, we must formulate a plan to-” My words were cut off as an explosion hit the ground beside us. We had been smart enough to move out of the house, since the fact that they had found Lance’s parents meant that we were not safe anywhere. A fighter jet appeared over us- except it didn’t look like any fighter jet I knew. As I blinked out into a higher time perception, I watched the jet fly off into the distance, only to come back around for another bombing run. Except… It didn’t look like any normal fighter jet… Painted a dark silver, the plane was sleeker and slimmer than any other than I had seen before. Instead of bombs, missiles, or any other projectile weaponry, the jet had laser cannons, not unlike mine. It was the Amalgamation. Along with the others, I scrambled for cover, making it before them, and turned off time perception. Another wave of explosions rocked the park, and I hoped no pedestrians were nearby when the lasers hit.
“Come out, little robot, come out and PLAY!” the Amalgamation screamed. “I have never been and never will be denied something, little robot. Come out or your parents DIE!”
NO. just NO. No one threatened the lives of my parents and got away with it. Entering Time Lapse, my name for the increase in time perception, I morphed my energy cannon, raced on top of the nearest building, and jumped I flew into the air, and instead of shooting my energy cannon, first I threw a rope a grappling hook out of my other wrist, and swung onto the jet. Slamming my energy cannon into the cockpit, face-to-face with a startled driver, I unleashed a blast of bright energy and jumped off. Landing with a thud, I looked down to see that my legs had thickened around the bottom to absorb the impact better, although they quickly reshaped themselves. I had taken down a fighter jet, and all in a matter of seconds. However, I suddenly felt weak and dizzy, and finally I fell to the ground. I did not feel as A.V.A took over my body and hid me from the dangers all around.
