Vampire Lover

Chapter 9

4:30 p.m., in the pantry.

Avril was waiting next to the coffee machine. Her mind was drifting as she held a cup of coffee in her hand.

Five minutes earlier, Haider had sent her a text message. He requested her to make him a cup of coffee. As the secretary, she had to obey the president's order.

The freshly brewed coffee was ready. Avril held it carefully as she walked towards the president's office.

A person Avril did not want to see suddenly appeared and blocked her way. Avril looked up in displeasure, she sighed.

"Oh God, why is Angie here again? Such a nuisance!" Avril thought.

"Get out of my way!" Avril said, glaring at Angie coldly.

Angie approached Avril, staring at the cup of coffee in Avril's hand. There was a wicked look in her eyes as she said in a commanding tone, "Give me that cup!" Angie clearly knew that Avril was using this cup of coffee as an excuse to get close to Haider and seduce him!

"Haider is mine! I won't let Avril come in my way!" she thought.

"What rights do you have to command me?" Avril moved around Angie and walked past her.

She was not trying to be a kind-hearted philanthropist here. She had put effort into making the coffee, so why should she casually pass it over to her rival?

"Haider is mine! That gives me the right to command you. You can't snatch him from me!" Angie said loudly as she chased after Avril, blocking her again. "He deliberately agreed to marry you in front of me just to make me jealous! He wants me to come back to him!"

Avril was momentarily dumbstruck.

No wonder why Haider did not berate Angie earlier! It was because he still had feelings for Angie!

"That does make sense. Angie has been dating him for at least a week, and he has only known me for less than a day." Avril thought.

"Well, I guess you're right. You can take the coffee to him then," Avril said.

Angie felt very smug and delighted. She reached out to grab the coffee from Avril's hand, but Avril dodged her hand and poured the coffee into the rubbish bin next to Angie instead. "Why did you do that?!" Angie burst into anger.

"Why not?" Avril swept her hair in a mocking way. "If you want to please the president, by all means, make your own cup of coffee! I'm not that kind-hearted to let you take credit for my efforts!" Then, she flashed a beautiful smile at Angie, turned around, and left.

Angie angrily walked back to the coffee machine. 'Avril Chris! Just wait and see! When I get Haider back, the first thing I would do is to make him fire you!"

At that moment, she had completely forgotten about her fiance, Jack Normandy.

Avril happily whistled her way back to her seat. Shaming Angie actually brought her so much joy!

In less than five minutes, she received a text from Haider, "Come to my office."

The spacious president's office was designed in a monochrome, minimalistic style. It was surprisingly quiet in there.

There was no emotion on Haider's

enchanting face. His fair hands were resting on the black marble desk. He had his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his defined wrists. The buttons near his collar unfastened, exposing his

nere

mesmerizing chiseled collarbones.

Avril discreetly swallowed her drool. This man was too attractive to behold!

When God created this man, he must have overdosed on two elements, namely seductiveness and charm.

Haider raised his hand to loosen his

tie. Avril could see the blue veins slightly protruding upon his skin, stretching from his temples down his long neck. She was standing very close to him, so close that she could even see the tiny hairs on his Adam's apple.

He was adorable, yet seductive.

Avril hurriedly moved her gaze from him. She could feel her body getting hot, and her face was flushing suddenly.

"Are you alright? Why does your face look so flushed?" Haider seemed to not notice her abnormal behavior, however, he stood up and came to stand by her side. He gently touched her forehead, "Oh, you're burning up! Do you have a fever?"

Avril felt as though her body was being electrocuted. His cool hand touched her flushing forehead, and she felt exceptionally comfortable. It was as if she was submerged in a hot spring, feeling warm and secure.

Suddenly, Avril pushed his hand away, pretending to be composed, 'Tm fine. Perhaps it was because I ran over here, so I'm feeling a little hot. Mr. Evans, is there anything I can do for you?"

Did Angie's cup of coffee intoxicate him? Hence, he was having a change of heart? Would he be asking for Avril for a divorce now?

No, she would not agree to it! Even if she had to sacrifice her own happiness, she would not let that despicable Angie get her way!

A trace of amusement flashed in Haider's eyes. He walked over to the large full-length windows and put down the blinds. Now, it would be impossible for anyone outside to see through the windows. Instantly, there were only the two of them in this isolated room.

Avril gulped nervously.

"What's happening? Why must it be so mysterious? Does Haider want to do something intimate with me in the office?" Avril's heart skipped a beat.
