Unwanted

Chapter 38 - Paimon

Petra’s P.O.V.

When I see the enormous spider above us, I want to die. I’m not scared of much, but spiders are the one thing I’m terrified of, with their weird eyes, eight legs, and hairy bodies. I seriously have to stop thinking about the damn thing if I’m going to have any chance of getting us out of here.

Alecto had stopped my magic temporarily, but I can feel it returning now. I want to let Teegan know, but I don’t want to alert the demon. It’s still amazing to me that after Anton and I marked each other, it seemed like everything was unlocked. I suddenly knew all about my abilities and how to use them. Now this bitch has used a spider to scare the shit out of me. My wolf Diamond is back, too, and ready for action.

“You know what to do, but you have to be quick before she can react. Are you ready?” Diamond mindlinks me.

“Yes. Let’s do this. If that spider touches me, Teegan will be on her own because I’ll be dead and will come back to haunt everyone who put me in this situation. You do your part, and I’ll do mine.” I mindlink her back.

Most of my magic makes me glow, but that’s a telltale sign that I’m getting ready to do something. This will be my first time using it without the glow. I look at Teegan, but she’s staring at the spider. I look back at Alecto, who’s also watching the spider with what I guess you would call a smile on her ugly face. It’s now or never.

While they continue watching the large beast, I use magic and make it explode all over the demon. She’s covered in spider bits while Teegan and I have nothing on us. With the spider gone, the webs it put around us loosen so we can get out. We drop to the floor while Alecto is wiping her face off.

“Did you do that?” Teegan whispers. I nod and keep my eyes on the demon. Taking out the spider was the easy part.

“Hold my hand,” I tell Teegan. If Alecto thinks our power together is what she needs, I want to use it for our benefit. Teegan takes my hand, and my magic seems stronger. She gasps beside me, so I know she feels it, too. We’re going to get out of here.

“How the fuck did that happen? My baby has been with me for years.” She almost sounds like she cares for the disgusting creature.

“You’re not as strong as you think you are. We’re leaving, and you will not have any of our power.” I look at Alecto with a smirk. She glares at me.

“Do you think I’m going to let you walk out of here? Even if you were able to get out, don’t you think I’ll get you again?” She’s still wiping spider parts off her as she moves toward us. I can see anger in her black eyes because whatever magic she’s trying to use isn’t working.

“I’m sorry. Did you think I was asking for your permission to leave? You’re going to be gone soon, so you won’t be here to get us again or anyone else.” Alecto looks at me as though I’ve lost my mind, and Teegan squeezes my hand.

“Are you stupid? You can’t kill a demon. There are only two beings who can kill us, and you’re not one of them.” She stops a few feet away from us. I can feel Teegan shaking next to me, but I’m not scared. She can’t do anything to us right now.

“You’re right. One thing you’re forgetting. There are others who can take you to hell so Satan can punish you. When you took us, I realized I wasn’t able to mindlink Anton, but I had a way to alert another. Please come out, Paimon.” Alecto’s smile freezes as she turns around. A tall figure in black appears from the darkness behind her. He stays in the shadows, so I can’t quite make out his face.

“Hello, Alecto. You were placed on Earth to cause madness in those who were harming other humans. You weren’t supposed to interact with anyone, and you were not to mess with any of the supernaturals. However, your greed for power has been your downfall. When Petra’s wolf Diamond mindlinked me about your actions, Satan sent me here to get you. The same madness you have instilled in humans will now be within you for all eternity while you suffer in hell.” Paimon waves his hand, causing a hole to open in the ground, swallowing Alecto as she screams. It closes as soon as she’s gone.

“Thank you for coming so quickly. She tried to restrain us with her magic again, but as long as we were holding hands, she couldn’t affect us.” I explain to him. I keep Teegan’s hand in mine. He may have gotten rid of Alecto, but that doesn’t mean I trust him. Paimon doesn’t move any closer, but I hear him chuckling softly.

“Fear not, my dear wolves. You will not be harmed by me. I will send you back to your mates now.” Before either of us can respond, I feel like I’m falling backward, and suddenly, we’re standing outside the packhouse we had been in when Alecto showed up. Teegan looks at me in disbelief.

“Would you please explain to me what the hell just happened?” She asks. I look at the packhouse and see people running toward us.

“I’ll explain to everyone,” I say as Anton reaches me and wraps his arms around me so tight I feel like I can barely breathe.

“I was scared to death I wouldn’t see you again.” He says next to my ear. I hug him back, breathing in his comforting scent.

“I was scared, too,” I reply. Anton pulls away and looks me over.

“What happened? How did you get away?” I turn to Teegan, and she looks at me.

“Let’s go inside, and I’ll tell everyone,” I answer, pulling him into the packhouse. Anton sits in a chair and pulls me onto his lap as everyone gathers around.

“When Alecto took us, I wasn’t able to use my magic or mindlink, anyone at first. I woke up almost as soon as we were taken to her place, which I think was somewhere between Earth and hell. She’d had an enormous spider wrap us in webs against the wall. When I was able to mindlink Diamond, we made a plan. My magic was returning, but I couldn’t let Alecto know, or she would block it again. So while I killed the massive spider, Diamond mindlinked Paimon; he’s one of Satan’s men. Teegan and I were able to get out of the web, and Paimon came to send Alecto back to hell to live out eternity with the same madness she had instilled in others. We discovered something else while we were there. Teegan, would you like to enlighten them?” I look towards her.

“Alecto said I’m a Heyoka Empath. I don’t really understand what that means, but she said I absorb people’s emotions and can feel what they feel.” She brushes it off, and I smile at her. I love her. Even when told she has a unique ability, she acts like it’s nothing.

“That’s not all of it. Alecto wanted both of us for our power because together, we’re even stronger than we are apart. After we got out of the webs, she kept trying to use her magic on us. It didn’t affect us because we were holding hands.” Everyone looks at us in shock.

“Logan called our Dad because he knew about Alecto, and we wanted to know how to find her. However, when he called back, he said everything was fine and we should go outside. That’s when we saw both of you. I’m wondering now who exactly our Dad talked to that knew you’d be back.” Joel says, looking at Logan.

“I don’t know, but I’ve heard of Paimon. He’s one of the princes of the underworld.” Logan replies.

I feel like I’ve been submerged into a world I never knew existed. Diamond had said she was going to talk to one of Satan’s men and gave me his name, but I didn’t know what he was. I came with them to travel all over the country and help people who were kidnapped. Now we’re fighting demons and being saved by a prince of the underworld. I wonder what’s going to happen next.
