Chapter 1780
Holden’s heart sank.
He quickly handed Adele over to one of his people and followed her silent signal, scanning the lake.
That was when he saw it-the center of the lake had turned red…
Holden’s breath caught in his throat.
Panic shot through him.
Why was there blood in the water?
Ariana couldn’t swim, and the thought of her in the lake, drowning, made his blood run cold.
Without hesitation, Holden threw off his jacket and plunged into the lake, swimming hard toward the center.
Meanwhile, Sadie was oblivious to the commotion on shore.
She stared at Ariana, who was weak and bleeding right in front of her, and a small, twisted smile spread across her face.
When Sadie looked at Ariana’s beautiful face, her jealousy simmered beneath her calm exterior, quickly giving way to a cold and calculating desire for revenge.
She glanced at the scissors embedded in Ariana’s chest.
She believed she could now disfigure Ariana’s face as revenge.
Thinking of this, she pulled the scissors free.
She held the scissors, ready to mar the perfection of Ariana’s face.
But before she could act, a firm hand seized her wrist, halting her.
The sudden grip startled her, and the scissors slipped from her grasp.
Sadie was angry.
She turned around to see who was ruining her revenge.
However, her breath hitched when she saw Holden, his expression dark.
Holden looked at her as if he were going to skin her alive.
Sadie’s heart raced, a sudden wave of panic washing over her.
She hurriedly freed herself from Holden’s grip and swam backward, distancing herself from Holden as fast as she could.
Holden had no time for her.
His focus was entirely on Ariana, whose body was now stained with blood.
Without a second thought, he carried her in his arms and swam swiftly to shore.
Once Holden reached the shore with Ariana, his bodyguards immediately gathered around him.
Seeing Holden drenched, one bodyguard tried to offer Holden a coat, but Holden shoved him aside.
Trembling, Holden clutched the unconscious Ariana, her body soaked in blood.
Without a second thought, he staggered to his feet and bolted toward the hospital, carrying Ariana in his arms.
Shawn stayed behind, instructing people to seal off the entire lake.
The expensive white shirt on Holden now bore a shocking crimson stain-Ariana’s blood.
Raindrops speckled Holden’s handsome, ashen face as he gazed down at Ariana.
A terrible despair consumed him, wracking his entire body with tremors.
