Ultimate Evolution I Became the Master of the World

Chapter 8 What Exactly Is the Answer?

He was totally losing it and could only bank on Michael. If Michael was gonna be the big shot he was destined to be, no way he could bite the dust here.

From then on, he started keeping tabs on Michael. In no time, Michael had figured out the ghost's knocking pattern and even counted the stairs while making a run for it.

No doubt, Michael was a quick thinker. Most folks would freak out in a Ghost Realm with a Vengeful Ghost, but Michael kept his cool.

That was some serious talent.

Usually, this kind of talent was pretty useless. You might never need it. But in a world gone nuts, it could be a lifesaver. If you could tame ghosts, this talent would be a game-changer.

"Henrik, asking me is pointless. This is my first rodeo with this kind of mess. If I had a way out, I wouldn't be hanging around here. Every second we stay, we might bump into that ghost. You think I wanna die?" Michael said. Henrik realized Michael was still clueless. He felt kinda dumb for looking to him for help right now.

Was it 'cause Michael was such a big deal in the future?

"Henrik, look!" A classmate pointed shakily at the bathroom door.

There was a bathroom between the third and second floors of the school building.

"We're going in circles and still stuck on the second floor. We're toast."

"No, not that. Look behind the door, there's a shadow." The classmate stammered, raising his phone to shine a light.

Everyone backed off, scared out of their minds.

In the light, a tall, human-like shadow showed up behind the bathroom door's glass window.

"Who's in there?" Someone yelled, hoping it was just a classmate.

A long, creepy creak sounded as a pale hand reached out from the dark bathroom, slowly pushing the door open.

"It's not a person, it's another ghost." Henrik freaked out but then got a wild look in his eyes. "If you don't know anything, then just die here."

He grabbed Michael with all his strength and shoved him towards the dark bathroom, trying to use Michael's life to buy some time.

The bathroom door opened, and a pale hand reached out from the darkness. Everyone was too scared to make a sound, their hearts pounding. Michael had no clue Henrik would snap and push him towards the ghost.

"Henrik, are you trying to kill me?" Michael gritted his teeth. Realizing something was off, he quickly grabbed Henrik's arm.

"Michael, if you don't die, I'll never be at peace. Did you think I was just talking trash? You're too naive. You knew what I said, but you didn't guard against me. But it was all part of my plan. After all, you're just a clueless student. Today, I'll teach you a lesson."

Henrik turned and yelled, "Aren't you gonna help? We gotta push him in to stall the ghost. If that ghost gets out, we're all screwed. If you wanna live, you gotta sacrifice someone. No other way."

His words snapped the scared ones out of it. Under the threat of this Vengeful Ghost, people would do anything to survive, especially with a seemingly good excuse.

Three terrified male classmates rushed over and grabbed Michael. The four of them pushed him with all their might.

Michael tried to back off but was quickly shoved to the bathroom door.

The next moment, the pale hand from the darkness grabbed Michael's shoulder, its fingers cold and stiff, gripping him tight.

A terrifying force pulled Michael towards the dark bathroom.

"Michael, get in there. You're done for." Henrik shouted.

Michael was furious. He could feel his shoulder going numb, like it was being crushed by the cold, pale hand. At the same time, it felt like his blood was freezing. "You bastards. If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me."

With that, he stopped fighting and latched onto the arms of two classmates. The creepy pulling force from behind yanked them all forward.

Henrik sensed something was off and quickly backed away, dodging Michael's grip.

"No, let go of me, Michael, let go!"

"Please, I don't wanna die. Get someone else, not me!"

The two classmates Michael had grabbed were freaking out, their voices shaking with fear.

Michael, thinking he was already a goner, wasn't as scared. Surrounded by darkness, he coldly said, "Stop whining. Since you wanted me dead, I'm taking you with me. Henrik, don't get too comfy. If I die and turn into a ghost, I'm coming for you."

With a loud bang, the pale arm yanked back into the darkness, and the bathroom door slammed shut.

Michael and the two classmates who had set him up vanished. The door was tightly closed, no more movement.

Seeing this, Henrik finally exhaled, a slight smirk forming on his face.

He thought, 'Michael, you're finally done for.'

"Henrik, you really killed Michael and the others," someone nearby said, trembling.

Henrik's face twisted. "Shut up. If I hadn't done that, we'd all be dead when that ghost came out. What are you standing around for? If you wanna live, follow me. They won't hold the ghost for long. Once it kills them, it'll come for us next." With that, he turned and started heading upstairs.

"Henrik, why are we going back?"

"Going down is a dead end. Who knows what else we'll run into? Going back, we might find Nikolai. If he's still alive, he might save us," Henrik said, fear creeping into his voice.

The more people died in the Ghost Realm, the scarier it got, and time was running out.

Cold, dark, and with the sound of dripping water.

Michael and the two classmates were dragged into the pitch-black bathroom by the pale hand.

"Get out, get out of here." Dimitri Petrov and Fabio Santoro broke free from Michael, frantically feeling along the walls, trying to find the door and escape. The cold walls were pitted and smelled rotten.

The bathroom wasn't big. Normally, they could find the door and leave even with their eyes closed. But as they felt around, all they found was an endless wall.

Left was a wall, right was a wall, an endless wall blocking their way. The door had vanished.

"Where's the door? It was just here. Fabio, did you find it?" Dimitri said, his voice trembling with tears.

"I can't find it either," Fabio said, his voice filled with fear.

They frantically felt along the walls, their hands covering every inch, trying to find the familiar bathroom door.

But no matter how they searched, they couldn't find the door, only the cold wall. Or maybe, there was never a door here.

While they were searching for the door, Michael's situation was even worse.

He could feel the cold hand gripping his shoulder, and the numbness had spread from his shoulder to his entire arm. As time passed, more and more of his body lost feeling. If it spread to his whole body, Michael was sure he'd become a cold corpse.

Michael struggled with all his might.

It was useless. The place where the ghost had grabbed him felt like it was nailed down. Michael tried every possible way to struggle, but nothing worked.

'Am I really gonna die here?' It was the only thought in his mind.

Finally, maybe resigned to his fate, he felt no fear. He just thought that since he was gonna die, he might as well call his family and leave a final message.

With a bitter smile, Michael endured the cold and took out his phone, trying to call his family.

But when he turned on his phone, the screen flashed, showing the forum story he had been reading earlier.

The story was on the last page, and there was an audio file on the forum.

Seeing the audio file, Michael was stunned for a moment, suddenly recalling the sound of the old man knocking on the classroom door.

'Wait, if that old man really kills through the knocking sound, then this sound should work not just on people but on ghosts too. Nikolai said that only ghosts can deal with ghosts.' Thinking of this, a glimmer of hope for survival emerged.

Michael's other arm could still move, so he immediately clicked on the audio file.
