Trouble in Paradise (Arianna and Nicholas)

Chapter 0598

Chapter 0598

Nicholas held one of Tabitha's outfits in his hands. It was so small it seemed no larger than a face towel he used to wash his face. He handled them with such care that his overflowing fatherly love seemed to seep into the fabric.

I looked into his eyes earnestly and said, "You still have time to be a good father."

A faint smile spread across Nicholas' face, and his cheeks flushed with excitement.

"But I don't need you to make up for anything. I'm just your ex-wife, nothing more."

Nicholas parted his lips, and the expression on his face immediately fell. His voice was filled with self-mockery and a hint of helplessness.

"You know I love you, and I want to remarry you. Why do you have to say this on purpose?"

"That's how I feel. I'm not trying to upset you. Let's take this chance to talk and I'll only say this once. Nicholas, although it seems like you've seen through Claudia now, you'll never understand the pain I went through.

"I suffered so much because of her. Every time, it was my husband standing in front of her, shielding her. I saw you take the knife for her, and I saw you endlessly indulging her.

"So, when you stood on top of that hospital building, I believed her words. She said you couldn't live without her, and I believed it without a doubt.

'Because I loved you, I kept backing down, again and again. I even abandoned my bottom line and principles. Claudia could stand by your side and remain as your sister was all at the expense of my love for you."

"Don't..."

Nicholas' eyes were red, and he whispered softly, "Who cares if she is my sister or not? I don't want her as my sister. I only want your love...

I smiled, treating his words as a child's tantrum.

*Before I went abroad, I waited for you all night in the marital house you bought. Claudia probably didn't pass this message on to you, but the fact was that you didn't come. I thought you didn't need me, that you could live with her, so I left."

Nicholas suddenly stood up. He strode over and pulled me into his arms. "I don't want you to leave. I want you to stay with me forever."

I looked past his shoulder into the distance, rejecting him completely.

"Your feelings no longer matter to me. I used to think too much for you, but I won't do that anymore. If this love had been given to me eight years ago, I would have returned it a hundredfold.

"But the love between us has been separated by eight years. Everything has changed. At least now, some misunderstandings are resolved, and we can both learn to let go."

Nicholas covered his face with his hand as if trying to block out my words. "No. You love me. You do love me!" "Nicholas, what do I still love about you? Your cold, extreme nature? Or your domineering and overbearing ways? "I can't remember what I once loved about you, but I know for sure that there's nothing about you now that I love. I'm staying in Coral Villa only for Tabitha. But she'll grow up, and how long will you be able to keep me here?" A painful glint flashed in Nicholas' eyes, and his Adam's apple bobbed up and down.

"I'm not trying to keep you against your will, but if I don't, you'll leave. Please, don't leave me."

I sighed. I knew Nicholas still didn't understand. Love was never meant to be a chain. "Nicholas, I've said everything I need to say."
