Chapter 225 The Painful Truth
Ella took off her gauze mask and smiled at her two children playing in the back seat.
"Mom, where are we going today?" Jane asked, taking out a toy from her bag.
"Wherever you want. Today is your day. Tell mom what you want, and I will get them for you, " Ella replied and glanced at Jane through the rear-view mirror. "Yaay! Mom, are we going to the shopping mall? Can we go to the cinema too?" Jane excitedly exclaimed, while looking at Ella with begging eyes.
"What movie do you want to watch?" asked Ella.
"I want to watch the new Spiderman."
"Ok, Jerry, how about you?" Actually, it was needless to ask Jerry because he would do whatever Jane wanted to do, but he knew Ella would insist on a response.
As expected, Jerry responded, "Spiderman!"
Jerry had always spoiled his litter sister, and this time was no exception.
After shopping, Ella took the two kids to the cinema to watch the 3D movie.
Half an hour before the movie ended, Samuel called.
Ella told Jerry to look after Jane for a while, walked out of the cinema, and answered the phone. "I will get off work in half an hour. I'm thinking of taking you and Jerry for a meal," said Samuel. 'After half an hour? Surely the movie would have been finished by then.
But Jane is with me.' thought Ella.
Before Ella even replied, Samuel continued, "I heard that you went to the cinema with Jerry and a little girl.
Did you take Jane with you?"
After hearing what the bodyguard had told him, he immediately thought of Jane.
Samuel's last question to Ella seemed to have scared her the most. 'How does he know where I am?' Ella wondered to herself.
"Jane? who is Jane?" said Ella in an agitated voice.
She had almost forgotten that Samuel had hired personal bodyguards for her.
"Ah? Am I wrong? I believe Jane was the pretty cute girl Jerry was with when he came to visit me in my office, was she not?" Samuel was extremely curious about who she had taken to see the movie with Jerry.
'When did Jerry go to Samuel's company with Jane without me knowing' Ella was clueless.
After a while, Ella had regained her composure, "Oh, that was Jerry's classmate. The girl's mother asked me to look after her daughter while she was busy taking care of some errands."
"Oh, I see. If that's the case, you can just bring her with you for dinner,
As much as Ella wanted Jane to be there, she wasn't ready. Off the top of her head she said "No!...", for she was not mentally ready to reveal to him the secret she had kept to herself for years. "Jane's mother will come pick her up soon.
"
Ella was so uneasy that she could not contain herself.
Her unusual behavior aroused Samuel's suspicion.
"Well then, just tell me when you have finished watching the movie," concluded Samuel.
When Samuel hung up the phone, Ella was relieved. She willed herself to calm down before returning to the theatre hall.
Ella sat down and began thinking about how to tell Samuel about Jane.
Deep in thought, Samuel suddenly remembered something.
He recalled that Ella had asked him what he would do if he found out that she had lied to him again.
He hurriedly unlocked his phone and opened WeChat, scrolling through Ella's profile moments.
She hadn't deleted several pictures she had taken with a little girl.
The pictures were taken at different times during the day and different places as well. Some were shot in the bedroom, some in the playground and others in the park.
The description implied that Ella had a very intimate relationship with this little girl.
One of the posts read, "It is scorching hot outside, I hope my little baby would not mind a little stroll."
'Little baby?
Such words were only used to refer to one's own child.
Is that little girl...?' Samuel whispered to himself.
Samuel felt his world spinning out of control. He felt deceived, confused, and hurt, all at the same time.
He dialed on his phone. "Investigate Ella's life in the past four years when she was abroad. Tell me all the people she has been with and those who were closest to her." It was a short call, but the receiver knew exactly what Samuel wanted.
Afterward, he contacted Daisy through Chuck.
Daisy was teaching Taekwondo to a group of children. She was surprised when she received a call from Samuel.
"Samuel?"
"I need to ask you some questions. I hope you can give me honest answers,"
With a sense of foreboding, Daisy thought of Jane.
She knew that this day would come, and always wondered why Ella hadn't told Samuel about Jane.
"Go ahead."
"Who is Jane? Has Ella ever cheated on me?" No one knew how nervous Samuel was when he brought up those questions. He could hardly imagine what it would be like if Daisy responded yes to either of them.
He also remembered what Chuck had shown him four years ago.
'If Jane is really her daughter, then who is the father, ' Samuel thought while clenching his fist.
But Daisy did not say a word.
'Sure enough, it's about Jane. What will I do? What will I do?' Daisy was thinking hard. Unaware of what had happened between Ella and Samuel, she did not know what to say.
"Daisy..."
Samuel called her.
Daisy took a deep breath, "Samuel, I think it is better for you to ask Ella yourself." She feared that she would screw things up if she said anything.
She didn't know why Ella hadn't told Samuel the truth. After all, they were back together.
Was it because Ella was still mad at Samuel?
"I will ask her myself later. I will not force you, and you just need to say 'yes' or 'no', "
He clearly had no understanding of the word "force." Daisy was in a quagmire, but within seconds, she made a decision that she knew deep down would be the best.
With her eyes closed, and teeth clenched, Daisy responded, "Yes!"
'That's fine. Anyway, Jane is Samuel's kid. Maybe, this is good for their relationship.' Daisy thought to herself.
However, Daisy didn't know that Chuck had completely been dishonest with Samuel four years ago.
Confident that Daisy would not lie to him, Samuel was truly saddened. He felt like he had been stabbed in the heart.
He was out of his mind. All he was thinking at that moment was how Ella had deceived him.
'Ella, how could you...?
So, maybe Jane was not mine after all.' Samuel whispered in grief and sorrow.‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒
