Chapter 10 The Unavoidable Truth

It's been a week since the triplets and I discovered the mate bond, and the tension has only grown. The triplets have been avoiding me, which should be a relief, but instead, it's driving me insane. Every time I walk into a room, I catch a whiff of their scent, feel the lingering warmth of their presence. It's like they're ghosts, haunting me at every turn.
Eartha, my wolf, is no help. She's been in a frenzy since the bond awakened, constantly urging me to seek out our mates. Every day, she fills my head with images of the triplets' wolves, describing them as the strongest, most handsome, and sexiest wolves she's ever seen. It's maddening.
"Emily, you need to stop being such a stubborn pup!" Eartha growls, her voice reverberating through my mind. "Our mates are waiting for us. Can't you feel the irresistible pull? The all-consuming desire?"
I shake my head, attempting to silence her persistent nagging. "I don't want this, Eartha. I don't want to be their mate, don't you understand?"
Eartha lets out an exasperated huff. "You're being utterly ridiculous, Emily. The Moon Goddess herself chose them for us. They're strong, devastatingly handsome, and oh-so-deliciously sexy. Can you imagine how mind-blowingly amazing they'd be in bed? I bet they'd worship every inch of our body, make us come undone with just a single touch..."
"Shut up, Eartha! I don't want to think about that. It's..."
"It's destiny," Eartha purrs. "You can't fight fate, Emily. Sooner or later, you'll have to accept that we belong to them, body and soul."
I cut the link with Eartha. I am so afraid that... deep down she's right. Last night, I had a bad dream. A real bad dream. Terrible.
My dream has been filled with sensual fantasies of the triplets.
I find myself in a dimly lit room, the air heavy with the musky scent of arousal. I'm lying on a plush bed, my naked body draped in sheer silk sheets. Suddenly, the door opens, and the triplets enter, their eyes glowing with primal hunger. "Emily," Leo growls. "We've been waiting for you."
I try to sit up, to cover myself, but my limbs feel heavy, weighed down by the force of their gaze. "What... what's going on?" I manage to whisper, my heart pounding in my chest.
Luca smirks, his fingers trailing over the edge of the bed. "Isn't it obvious, little mate? We're here to claim you, to make you ours in every way possible."
Logan nods, his blue eyes blazing with intensity. "You can't run from us anymore, Emily. The bond between us is too strong, too powerful to resist."
I shake my head, even as my body trembles with need. "No, I... I can't. We can't. It's not right."
But they're already moving towards me, their hands skimming over my heated skin, leaving trails of fire in their wake. "Shh, baby," Leo murmurs, his lips brushing against my ear. "Don't fight it. Just let go, let us love you the way you deserve." And then they're everywhere, their mouths and hands worshipping every inch of my body. I'm lost in a haze of sensation, of pleasure so intense it borders on pain. I arch and moan beneath them, my inhibitions melting away like snow under the summer sun.
"Please," I gasp, my voice barely recognizable to my own ears. "I need... I need..."
"We know what you need, little mate," Luca growls, his fingers delving between my thighs. "And we're going to give it to you, over and over again until you scream our names."
I shatter under their touch, my body convulsing with the force of my climax. And as I drift back down from the peak of ecstasy, I hear their voices, soft and low in my ear.
"You're ours, Emily. Now and forever. And nothing, not even the Moon Goddess herself, can tear us apart."
I jolt awake, my skin flushed and damp with sweat, my thighs slick with arousal. I bury my face in my pillow, a low groan escaping my lips.
Anxiety sweeps over me again as I thought about the dream. "This has to end," I mutter to myself. "I can't keep living like this."
***
That evening, I pace restlessly in my room, my nerves stretched taut as a bowstring. I'm just about to go searching for the triplets when a knock at the door makes me freeze, my heart leaping into my throat. A familiar scent wafts into the room.
Leo.
He steps inside, a dizzying mix of pine and musk that makes my head spin and my body ache with longing.
"Look at him, Emily," Eartha whines. "Let me out, let me claim him! I want to feel his hands on our body, his lips on our skin. I want him to fuck us until we can't remember our own name."
I swallow hard, trying desperately to ignore the pulsing heat between my thighs. "Leo," I manage to choke out. "We need to talk. This mate bond between us. We need to break it, to end this farce before it goes any further."
Leo's eyes narrow, a low growl rumbling in his chest. "We are not going to do this, Emily," he says, his voice a deep, commanding rumble that sends shivers down my spine. "The Moon Goddess chose us for each other. You're our fated mate, and we're yours. There's no breaking that bond, no escaping what's meant to be."
I open my mouth to argue, but he cuts me off with a sharp gesture. "The reason we haven't officially claimed you yet is that you're not 18. We don't want to trigger your heat too early and risk your health. But make no mistake, little mate. You are ours, now and forever."
I feel Eartha preen with satisfaction. "See?" she purrs. "He wants us, Emily. They all do. Stop fighting it and let them claim us, body and soul."
I clench my fists, my nails biting into my palms as I force myself to meet Leo's gaze head-on. "I don't accept this, Leo," I grit out. "I don't want to be your mate, or Luca's, or Logan's. We barely know each other, for Moon's sake!" His eyes flash with anger, and for a moment, I think he might lash out, might try to force me to submit. But instead, he takes a deep breath, his expression smoothing into a mask of calm determination."You will, Emily," he says.
He tosses something onto my bed, the fabric shimmering in the low light. "The day after tomorrow is our birthday ball," he says, his gaze never leaving mine. "You'll attend as our mate, and we'll officially announce our bond to the pack." My heart sinks like a stone. "Leo, no," I whisper. "Don't force me."
But he's already turning away, his broad shoulders filling the doorway. "It's not a choice, Emily," he says, "It's destiny."
I sink onto the bed, my legs giving out beneath me. Attend the ball as their mate? Announce our bond to the entire pack? The shimmering dress mocking me from its place on the comforter. A beautiful, delicate thing, all lace and silk and flowing skirts. The kind of dress a girl might wear to her wedding, or her mating ceremony.
Eartha is practically vibrating with excitement, her joy a searing counterpoint to my despair. "A ball?" she squeals, her voice echoing through my mind. "We get to dress up and dance with our handsome mates? Oh, Emily, it's going to be magical! Just imagine it, the four of us together, finally united as one. It's everything we've ever wanted, everything we've ever dreamed of." Hell no.
