The unwanted wife’s unexpected comeback

Chapter 94

Chapter 94:

? ? ? ? ?

Joshua's train of thought changed abruptly when the question was directed at him.

I chuckled. “You married me shortly after graduation, and yet you've barely had any contact with the elite. Rachel is a socialite. Do you think you can fit into her circle?”

Alice replied calmly: “It is rather strange. Despite my apparent simplicity, she extended her hand to me in order to make friends.”

Joshua's face darkened even further.

He asked himself: "Why is Alice acting against my wishes?

He then commented: “She’s just being polite. To her, you're insignificant. Trying to connect with her makes me look stupid.”

Alice, puzzled, asked, “How could that embarrass you? “We are divorced and no one knows about our current relationship.”

With obvious irritation, Joshua replied, “Just follow my instructions!”

Alicia hid a smile and preferred to remain silent. The atmosphere became tense and Joshua completely lost interest.

I have left the room.

Alicia put on her coat and followed him. It was too late for Joshua to stay. He had to get back to Lilliana.

Alice said goodbye to him.

Then I filled a glass with water and gently dropped a pill into it.

Its taste and appearance were undetectable.

As he handed her the glass, he whispered, "Be careful not to overindulge."

In his irritable, patchy state, Joshua drank without a second thought.

A fleeting look of triumph crossed Alice's face as her plan unfolded successfully, and she preferred to remain silent.

Joshua, laden with a pile of chores, left quickly. Alicia returned to her bedroom.

He then carefully examined the document Caden had provided him.

Joshua's transaction log for the past three years lay before her, perfectly intact. A smile of relief spread across her face.

She was amazed that after so many complex years, it was Caden who finally lent her a helping hand.

However, he wondered why he possessed such documents.

As he was contemplating this, his phone range.

It was Rachel.

Alicia felt her heart skip a beat when the phone rang late at night.

He answered the call.

"Mrs. Gray," he greeted, his voice warm.

Rachel replied softly, “Are you available in the next few days? “I’d love to have you over to my house for company.”

Alice asked, "Is it for a special occasion?"

“Not really,” Raquel explained. “I often have friends over for tea and conversation. “I look forward to introducing you as a talented new friend.”

Alice paused for a moment, then reluctantly replied, "I'm sorry, I may have to disappoint you."

Rachel replied, “You earlier refused Randolph's offer to take you, and now you are refusing my invitation. Have we upset you in some way, Mrs. Bennett?”

“Not at all,” Alice quickly assured him. “It's just that I already have plans.”

"My influence seems too limited then. I suppose I shall need Randolph to extend the invitation personally," Rachel observed, with a lingering smile.

A wave of anxiety washed over Alice.

He felt like a knife was pointed at his throat. Rachel's insistence made him suspect that something was wrong.

His intuition was screaming at him that attending would bring him problems.

However, avoiding the meeting might anger Randolph, a situation she preferred to avoid. It would be wiser to act diplomatically.

Facing adversity might be inevitable, but there was also the possibility of preventing any crisis.

“Okay, Mrs. Gray,” Alice agreed with a forced smile. “Let me know the time and I'll be there,” she confirmed.

Rachel expressed her relief.

"Great. I won't keep you any longer."

After the call ended, Rachel turned to Randolph with a worried look on her face.

"You insist on me coming. What are you planning?"

Randolph scoffed. “I have to make things clear to her. I won't let anyone manipulate me. Do you think I’m a wimp?”

Rachel tried to calm him down. “It doesn't bother you that much, does it? Why don’t you just let it go?”

“Do you think those people are stupid? Everyone is looking at me,” Randolph replied.

Rachel was silent.

He thought, "If you had been a little more restrained with your ex, none of this would have happened."

Randolph's tone turned cold. "If it were anyone else, I'd take it easy. But this is Alicia, Joshua's ex-wife. She betrayed me and now I'm going to get my revenge through her."

Raquel, seeing his true anger, decided that it was better not to continue arguing.

Alice felt a pang of discomfort.

He has considered his next steps and decided to call Caden.

“Do you still have time to talk?” Caden asked playfully.

"Why not?" Alice replied.

I have remained silent.

She dove right in. “I have a question about the document you gave me today. Does Randolph know anything about it?”

Caden hesitated before asking, “Is this a good time to talk about it?”

"Why not?"

"Where is Joshua?"

Alicia paused, realizing that Caden hadn't understood. “I didn't sleep with him,” she quickly corrected.

After clarifying, she felt a wave of guilt and covered her mouth.

Why did he justify himself to him?

Caden laughed softly. “Okay.”

Alice's anxiety increased. She pulled herself together and pressed: "Now, please answer my question."

Caden replied indifferently, “He doesn't know anything.”

"So why did Rachel invite me to her house so suddenly?" Alice expressed her fears. "I feel like it's a trap, like walking into the lion's den."
