The unwanted wife’s unexpected comeback

Chapter 7

Chapter 7:

? ? ? ? ?

Alicia soaked in the warmth of the bath, letting the gentle steam envelope her like a cocoon.

When Monica found out that it was Caden who had brought Alicia back, she couldn't stop chattering, her eyes shining with excitement.

«The Yates family scandal was the talk of the town back in the day! Who would have thought Caden would come back? And now, with the name he's made for himself, he doesn't really need the inheritance, does he? So why show up? To make Joshua’s life a living hell? My God, it's like a soap opera come to life: two brothers at odds. One is your soon-to-be ex-husband, the other is your nemesis. "So who are you rooting for, Alicia?"

But Alice's mind was elsewhere, and Monica's constant chatter had faded into the background.

"Alice? Hey, land to Alice!"

Only then did Alice return to reality.

“Huh? Sorry, did you just say something?”

“Are you okay? You seem… distracted.” Monica's eyes narrowed in concern, gently pressing her hand against Alicia's forehead. “You're not coming down with anything, are you?”

Alice shook her head, but the fog in her mind persisted.

“I'm fine,” she murmured, her thoughts wandering again. Was Caden really the man from that fateful night? The smell, the way he moved, the sound of his voice… it was all too familiar.

I have tried to recall the details of that night. The private cinema had been shrouded in shadows, the only light coming from the faint glow of the screen.

Plus, she was so absorbed in the moment that she hadn't bothered to study the man's face.

Alice frowned. A sinking feeling continued to gnaw at her…

With a frustrated sigh, she pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind. She stepped out of the tub and dried her wet hair.

Just as she wrapped herself in a towel, her phone ranged on the counter.

He looked at the screen and frowned. Joshua, again.

He kept calling. Without hesitation, Alice blocked the number and tapped the screen with her finger.

As soon as she came out of the bathroom, Alicia found Monica standing by the window. Just as Monica was about to draw the curtains, Alicia saw Joshua's car pulling away from the entrance.

“Look at that,” Monica sneered disdainfully. “What's wrong with him? Acting like he’s suddenly madly in love with you after all this time?”

Alice shrugged and dropped onto the bed.

Love? Joshua?

Just thinking about it made him want to laugh. If he really cared, he wouldn't have left her in the rain.

No, I was done with him for good.

As the two girls were falling asleep, Monica suddenly sat up in bed.

“Alicia, I just remembered that the person who bought the drugs wasn’t Joshua.” After a slight pause, she continued, “My father mentioned that the buyer's name was Lillian. Is that the name of Joshua’s secretary or something?”

Alicia turned onto her side and grabbed onto Monica's arm as if holding on.

Her mind raced, scanning every possible “Lillian” related to Joshua.

There were too many of them, and each name was confused with the next, so it was impossible to know who it was.

But there was one thing she knew: Joshua had never told anyone about his wedding anniversary. Only someone close to him, someone truly important, would know such a secret.

That woman, whom I have protected so fiercely.

Alice's lips pressed into a thin line as she whispered, "Thank you, Monica. You've been a great help. For tonight, let's try to get some rest."

She exhaled softly, knowing she needed to get a good night's sleep if she wanted to get revenge on those who had wronged her.

The next morning, his phone range with a call from an unknown number.

"Mrs. Bennett, we have found what you were looking for, but you will have to claim it yourself. I will send you the address shortly."

Alice's first instinct was to be on guard, least it be a scam.

However, one look at the screen of his phone changed his mind. The number was a luxury one and no scammer would spend money on that.

“What exactly are you talking about?” I have asked carefully.

«From her wedding ring.»

Oh.

Her thoughts immediately returned to the man from that night.

Her heart jumped into her throat.

The caller abruptly hung up on him and seconds later he received a text message with the address.

Her breath caught as she read the words “Blizzard Building.”

The Blizzard building was owned by the founder of Crest Group, a high-tech company known around the world for its cloud robots and high-tech microchips. Her mind was reeling. Who the hell had she slept with that night?

Puzzled, Alice checked the address again and her eyes widened at the last detail: the address specified the CEO's office.

"My God.

That same day, on her way to the Blizzard building, Alice quickly checked the list of Crest Group shareholders. Hmm… They all had foreign-sounding names, each of them over fifty years old.

Foreigners…

It was no wonder the man's member had been so… huge.

Stunned, Alice stroked her flushed cheeks, feeling a whirlwind of emotions.

Standing before the imposing and elegant logo of the Blizzard building, Alicia couldn't shake the surreal feeling that was taking over her.

Was it a trap?

His thoughts grew dark, one disturbing possibility after another creeping into his mind.

As a precaution, he grabbed some self-defense items before crossing the entrance.

Just as she crossed the lobby and entered the elevator, a car pulled up behind her. The car door opened and Lilliana stepped out, followed by Joshua.

He gripped her hand tightly, his face lined with worry.

"Joshua, can you really handle this?"

Since returning to the country, Caden had acquired several entertainment companies, one of which Lilliana had invested in.

As a rising pop star, her career was thrown into disarray when Caden unexpectedly stepped in.

Joshua's eyes remained fixed on the imposing building before him, his expression unreadable.

"Caden's problems with me are personal. If he brings you into this, he'll only tarnish his own name. Don't worry, I'll talk to him." I'll talk to him.

Lilliana clung to him, her big eyes filling with tears.

“Please, Joshua! You have to help me. “I have worked so hard to get to where I am today.”

“I said don't worry. “I’ll take care of it.” He gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, though his gaze never left the building.

Meanwhile, Alice stood outside the CEO's office, her path blocked by the high-tech security system.

The red light flashed above her and the robotic voice warned her of an unauthorized intrusion.

Hank appeared at her side, his face cold as stone.

"Mrs. Bennett, hand over the items."
