The Unloved Mate

Damien’s​ pov.

I could not sleep for a minute. Half reason being that bella was constantly shifting in her sleep and getting me all worried and the other half thinking if I should start training her soon.

I think I should train her myself. It would be better that way. I will know how she’s​ doing without being away. And after the training she will be able to protect herself good.

My phone buzzed and i carefully took it out of my pocket, trying not to wake bella up.

It was a text from Adam.

I have to go back to my pack right now. Emergency. I’m taking Nina with me, don’t have all the fun with that mutt alone, I’ll be back in 2 days. See ya.

I rolled my eyes and replied an ‘okay’

“Good morning Damien”

I turned my head at the voice and smiled before giving Bella a brief k**s.

“Good morning baby, how are you feeling?” I asked while sitting up. I brushed a few strands of hair from Bella’s face and she smiled brightly. Even though she says she is fine I can’t but think otherwise. Seeing her in the hospital in such a state has left a scar on my heart and I don’t want anything of that sort to happen again. Ever.

“I’m good. Nora is helping a lot.” She replied enthusiastically.

“I’m glad your doing well. You should take care of yourself.” I said and kissed her forehead. “Now I was thinking you should start your training soon. Maybe next week or so?” I said out of the blue.

“What?”

“I said that i want you to start training. You should be able to defend yourself when needed baby. I will always be there, but some situations may not be in our favour. That time these trainings will help.”

She nodded and kissed my lips once more before going to the bathroom. I sighed and thought about her again. After what happened that day I can’t take any chances. She was taken from under my watch and that’s a serious matter. She has to train and I will make sure she learns everything.

She comes out of the bathroom in only a skimpy towel. I can hear her fast heart beat all the way here and a smirk makes its way on my face. She avoided my gaze and rummage through the closet. I walked towards her and wrapped my arms around her tiny waist.

“Are you trying to seduce me Princess?” I whispered in her ear and she shivered under my touch. I just love the effect i have on her.

“N-No why would you t-think that” she said breathlessly. I chuckled and rubbed my palms up and down her arms and she took in deep breaths.

“Do I make you nervous baby?”

“N-No” i laughed and tickled her sides a little. She squirmed and tried to wiggle out of my hold. I released her, still laughing, and went for a shower myself.

“I’ll be right back.” I yelled over my shoulder​ and heard a small ‘ok’ from her.

After a refreshing warm shower I left the bathroom. Bell was looking out the window, now dressed in a mint green sweater and white shorts. I went in the closet and wore a navy blue suit and crisp white dress shirt with shiny black shoes.

Today I was thinking about going to my office. The outside world one. I have been working from home for a long time and I have to see how everything is going on there.

I stepped out and hugged Bella from behind. She leaned into me and sighed. I don’t want to leave her.

Then don’t leave her dumbass! Bring her along!

“Where are you going Damien?” She asked

“Office baby. I have to see how everything is going on there.” I said and kissed her cheek. “wanna come with me?”

“Can I?” She asked all excited.

“Of course you can.”

“Ok then I’ll change” she started going in the closet when i pulled her back.

“What’s wrong with these? You don’t have to change. Come on” i said.

“But I should look good like you do. You are wearing a suit.” I just pecked her lips and smiled.

The car was waiting for us outside. Once we were in the car Bella started fidgeting with her fingers. I frowned and held her hands in mine.

“Hey, what wrong? Do you not feel good? Tell me” I did not try to mask my concern for her in my voice.

“I feel ok. I’m just nervous, I’m coming with you to your office in such an outfit. What will people think, what will your employees think?” She pouted her lips and looked towards the window. I almost ‘awed’ at her. I cupped her face in my hands and made her look at me.

“Baby, there is nothing wrong with your outfit and besides your the boss here. No one can question you. And you look cute.” I said and she cracked a smile.

“You always know how to make me feel better.” She commented.

“That’s my job, isn’t it?”

We reached the building in half an hour and got out of the car before helping Bella out.

We entered the building and bella looked around in awe.

“I should not be surprised at the beauty of this place, after seeing your house. But I can’t help myself”

The corner of my lips twitch as I moulded my hand in hers. Some employees greeted me and looked questioningly at bella. I ignored them and went to the reception.

I remember firing the last receptionist because of her constant flirting with the guests. So I hired a new one. Luca.

“Luca, is Mr Charles present today?” I asked in a businessman tone.

“Hello good afternoon sir. Yes Mr Charles​ is present today. I called him straight after your call.”

“Good”

I nodded and walked to the elevator with bella at my side. I pressed the top floor button and watched as the doors closed.

“Who is Mr Charles, Damien?” Bella asked. I leaned against the wall and held bella in front of me by her waist.

“He’s my assistant. Gage Charles.” I said and buried my face in her neck, placing small k****s.

She giggled and shoved me lightly but i din’t budge.

“You have to try harder sweetie.” I said and laughed at her attempts.

A ping sound indicated​ that we reached my floor and we excited the elevator.
