I stood in front of my bedroom mirror sizing up my appearance as Marais as my inner wolf was purring in content while I took deep breaths to ease my racing heart.

“Looking good,” commented Mrs. Yanez as she and her husband (the latter shirtless and coming fresh from his run with my fathers and his son) came inside with her holding a cup of soothing tea. “I figured that you needed a little something to calm your nerves.”

“Thanks,” I breathed, sitting down at my desk before accepting the cup of jasmine tea. “In less than ten minutes, I get to find out which two Alphas from the Magnificent Eight will kick things off. Boy, I can only imagine what’s going down and all that.”

“Take it easy, amigo,” Mr. Yanez admonished me softly, his eyes glowing gold to show that his wolf Euripedes was talking to me for the moment. “I speak for my human Armando and myself when I say that the Eight Alphas will do all that they plan to treat you with the respect that you deserve as the Moon Wolf Prince and the future Sun God Wolf king.”

“That’s right,” Mrs. Yanez agreed. “And if they try to get fresh, you can always kick them in the balls and threaten them with castration.”

Mr. Yanez coughed with embarrassment as his wife and I laughed.

“Well, I’m just ready to go through this date and learn a bit more about my mates,” I replied after a few sips of jasmine tea. “They knew me for most of my life but I don’t know a single thing about them. And all the while, I was playing keep-away from them while trying to keep my nose clean and focused on school.”

“That’s true,” Mr. Yanez agreed. “Well, at least you can say that you’re willing to try and learn more about your mates. I just hope that you don’t have sex at all during this week.”

I gave the older man a pointed look. “Sir, that would piss off my brothers and fathers more than you can imagine,” I drawled. “You already know that I’m keeping my V-Card intact until it’s time for my heat and mating season with them. And even then, I’ll be using protection until we say our vows at the altar. There won’t be any small feet running around the palace anytime soon.”

The adults nodded in agreement just as Mariah and the Booker twins came inside, giving me three red roses. “And I take it that it’s time for me to go on my first date?” I asked, setting down my teacup.

“You bet,” Regan replied as he and the others handed me the roses. “We were told to give them to you and escort you outside. And no, we can’t tell you who your first two dates are. You’ll find out when you get outside.”

I nodded, standing up to put on my new sportcoat from Armani before grabbing my wallet and fedora. “Let’s go,” I said, waving farewell to the Yanez couple.

As I made my way through the halls, each of the servants, maids, and guards handed me various flowers and offered me small grins and friendly waves. “Looking sharp, Your Grace,” commented the head guard Gabriella as she handed me a lone daffodil.

When I reached the main foyer of the palace, I was the recipient of twenty flowers as Addison promised me to place them in a vase with water. “Are you ready?” she asked me.

I took a deep breath. “Ready as I’ll ever be,” I commented, opening the door and stepping outside to face my fate.

Standing in front of a waiting BMW were none other than Isaiah and Damien, both of them shirtless and the Alpha werecat-shifter holding a picnic basket. “You look so delicious tonight,” purred Damien, his Alpha wolf eyes glowing bright with lust. “What do you think about a picnic in the park?”

“Sounds good to me,” I replied. I waved farewell to Alyssa who looked as if she was witnessing a sensual romance novel coming to life. “I’ll be back by eleven tonight.”

“Have fun,” she hollered as I stepped into the backseat of the car while Damian took the wheel and Isaiah called shotgun.

Ten minutes later, we were at Langella Park where a few fairies were hanging out for a nighttime flight and a lone were-panther was enjoying his run in his animal form. Damien set out the paper plates while Isaiah pulled out the meal for tonight’s feast: gourmet sandwiches from Refari’s Deli and Bakery, homemade pasta salad, fresh berries and cream, and various small bags of chips. “This looks so good,” I commented as we all helped ourselves.

“Only the best for our mate,” commented Damien. “So beautiful, I take it that you had a great time getting prepared for tonight. You look like you stepped out of a magazine.”

“Thank you,” I preened. “And it’s all thanks to my dad and godmothers as well as my friends. They made sure that I learned to dress for a night on the town or an intimate date. You two look handsome in only jeans and sneakers, though I can only imagine what you two have planned after this.”

Damien chuckled. “We just wanted you to enjoy viewing our abs and chests,” he drawled. “And, we plan to go for a run in our respective forms afterward- the three of us, of course.”

I nodded, biting into a delectable roast beef sandwich half that melted in my mouth. “I’m down,” I said after swallowing. “Horus and Marais would love it as well.”

And we spent a good thirty minutes chowing down on the food while I got to know my werecat and werewolf mates better. Isaiah was an only child that trained at an early age to take over his family’s pack that had grown to size with two locations- one here in Denver and the other back in DC. Damien, on the other hand, had lost two older brothers that were originally planning to lead the pack before he was born. He had two younger sisters (both Beta warriors) that were currently training to be warriors for their pack. He also has an older sister who was currently in the military and was mated to her omega were-jackal.

After we placed everything away, we began to shift into our respective forms (me shifting into Marais) and joined in with a few other werewolves in a race around the spacious park- weaving in between avenues of planted oak trees and enjoying each others’ company while letting our beasts talk to each other. It was a thrilling and lively night that I hoped would never end, but knew that had to end because of my curfew and needing rest for another day of homeschooling and virtual classes.

“Thank you guys so much for tonight,” I said as we shifted back (me being Horus with his Arabic and slightly-stocky build) before I took some of the leftovers in a to-go plate. “I had a lot of fun. And I hope we can do it again sometime soon.”

“No problem,” grinned Damien as we began to pack everything away and made our way back to our cars. And five minutes later (with ten minutes until eleven), I was back home with the duo escorting me to the door. “We love you,” they said in unison.

I smiled, my heart skipping a beat. “I love you both, too,” I breathed, giving both boys a light kiss on the lips before I ducked back inside. I smiled widely as I watched both boys jump for joy, whooping and yelling happily before heading back into Damien’s BMW and speeding away.

I turned around to see Tomeka and Destiny grinning at me. “Spill,” the former demanded, she and her sister leading me upstairs to my room. “Spill all the tea, child.”

And for ten minutes while we snacked on the last of the sandwiches, I did just that.

Two Alphas down, six more to go. Who will be next?
