Chapter Chapter Thirty-Two: Drama at the Autumn Formal Ball (Part One)

“You need to sit this out, bro.”

“We want you to be safe, Malachi.”

“I know that you spent a lot of your money getting ready, son. But your fathers and I don’t want to risk losing you tonight.”

“We’re keeping you safe, our love. Let us deal with Alyssa and the Howells. We love you too damn much to let anything happen to you.”

And that sealed my fate of not being allowed to attend the Autumn Formal masquerade ball despite my protests, pleas, and a few colorful expletives that could make my fathers, mates, and even Dad blush. And even though they knew that I could handle my ground (hence me shooting Ryker in the arm at the cafe and reading Alyssa for filth before threatening them with worse); I knew that they were right on the money about me being in imminent danger regarding Cunningham and the Howell twins. I knew that those three could be capable of anything and everything. If anything, they might be preparing an army to make sure that they overtake the palace and take everyone hostage.

So, I finally caved in and surrendered to the masculine men’s suggestions of staying in my room and lying low for my safety that night, although Dad was working with Mrs. Yanez, Angelique McNeese-Monroe (another of the female maids and the daughter of the late Cora Mae McNeese), and the other maids to let me have my own small party to talk to the female and male Omegas that were slated to arrive. And I was currently lying down on my med and blasting Charli XCX in my headphones while reading the latest Elle Supernatural magazine.

“Malachi?”

I looked up from the latest article for male Omegas’ latest trends to see both Ian and Olodom hover over me. Taking off my headphones and pausing my music on my phone, I sat up. “What’s up?” I asked, beckoning the merman and demigod to sit down.

“We’re just checking up on you to see how you’re dealing with everything after today,” Olodom replied. “I know that you’re not too keen on missing out on tomorrow’s big masquerade ball- more so for you since I know that you were planning to dress elegantly in your custom-made Armani tuxedo that would’ve made you look like the most beautiful being in the ballroom.”

“And we know that you were ready to handle the mess with Cunningham and Howell,” Ian added, “especially after you shot the cocky Howell twin in the arm after he threatened your family. But think about how the other guys and others might be feeling right now, babe. IF anything was to happen to you before you even mated with us and unleashed your full potential as the powerful legendary supernatural being, we would never forgive ourselves and your fathers, godfathers, and brothers and siblings-in-law would kick our asses from here to the moon.”

I nodded. “I know that,” I replied. “And you know that I’m related to the Moon Goddess and the other supernatural gods and goddesses and they’ll join in and make your lives a living nightmare.”

“And don’t forget about the Queens of the Supernatural,” Olodom added, giving me a knowing look. “I know that I’m a carbon copy of my father and we both have nasty tempers, but when Firella threatened me with bodily harm and emasculating me, I freaked out. Even Dad got spooked and he’s rarely frightened. Aunt Vinitra and Aunt Vinzera all but laughed their asses off when Dad and I were left stammering and nearly breaking down in tears. She’s one scary bitch.”

And wouldn’t you know it, the hunky demigod actually shuddered lightly that made me laugh.

“But for real, Malachi,” Ian went on. “You got a lot of fans and friends that love you too much to see you get hurt. And after today, you know that things are getting very serious now. And the other guys and I know that those three stooges think that they want you to suffer- Alyssa finally making her claims with my friends, the Sons of Enya, and even Olodom here while you get stuck with the Howell Alpha twins. We won’t let you be coerced into rejecting us and we won’t be coerced into rejecting you, either. We all know that the mating bond is too damn powerful to be broken and the Moon Goddess will pour out her fury on us if we broke it either by volition or force.”

I nodded. “I know,” I replied, sitting back on the headboard while wiping away a stray tear. “If I can be honest?”

Olodom nodded. “Confess what’s on your heart, love.”

I took a deep breath before diving right in. “You guys know my dad’s story of being rejected by Regan Zallenda and being exiled from the Four Aces pack, right?”

Both guys nodded as I saw my other mates come in with Anis and Alain following behind them.

“Well...a couple of times, a small part of me was fearing the same thing, long before I met Cunningham,” I continued. “After meeting them and threatening to do them in, I had a few nasty thoughts of you guys and the others rejecting me and dumping me for that shallow-brained skank hoe while I was forced to mate with the Howell brothers by my fathers and brothers- even going as far as being forced to marry them right on the spot while everyone watched and laughed at me. And you know that the mating bond that you guys had broken would have broken my heart and put me in a coma. So I’m going to just say that even I have my fears of being brokenhearted and left to be stuck with the booby prizes that are the Howell twins.

“But don’t get it twisted, though. You all know damn well that I am very capable of revenge- even when it comes to my stash of snacks and my precious garden outside. So you know that it’ll be a cold day in Hades when I am forced to mate with someone that I will never love. And if either of you-” I narrowed my eyes and let my quiet rage flow through me as I transformed into my human Sun God Wolf counterpart as I finished my confession. “If either or all of y’all dare to break my heart...you better be ready to have your final arrangements for your funerals ready because hell hath no fury than an Omega scorned. I will hunt you down like y’all are the latest iPhones and destroy you like you’re rotting bags of garbage. Do I make myself clear?”

All thirteen mates nodded as fear was lit in their eyes.

“Understood.”

“Clear as day.”

“Crystal.”

“Perfectly understood, babe.”

“We got you covered.”

“Understood.”

Anis grinned while Alain cackled. “Hot damn it to hell,” the former drawled. “It goes to show that no one dares with our son.”

I only nodded.

Damien stepped forward. “Babe, we had no idea that you’re dealing with these thoughts,” he began, “but we don’t plan to reject you even if we tried or were forced to. And after your threat, we know that you mean every word. And as for tomorrow, my other mates and I will ensure of making sure that you will be brokenhearted.”

“How so?” I asked.

The dark-skinned, cropped-haired Alpha werewolf grinned. “You’ll see,” was all he said. “As She said, trust in us, your family and friends, and Her plans. Trust yourself, my love.”

He leaned forward and kissed me gently, the kiss growing deeper as I pulled him closer and caressed his massive and powerful chest and abs that hugged his T-shirt like a glove. We broke away, my heart racing. “Okay,” I breathed. “I trust you.”

“Good,” Galen purred. “Now, you prepare for bed, my love. Tomorrow, you’re spending the day with the Queens of the Supernatural and a few of the visiting Omegas. And that night...all will be made clear.”

And judging from the looks in my mates’ eyes, readers, I had a feeling that tomorrow was indeed going to be memorable...and everyone would know.

Including Alyssa Victoire Cunningham alongside Dawson and Ryker Howell.
