Chapter Chapter Eighteen: Gag-Worthy Surprises (Part Two)
The large living room where my family, friends, mates (the Sons of Enya included), the two goddesses, and I were in was full of anticipation as I shifted from Orpheus to another form; this time, it only took me twenty seconds until I had finished. I looked in the mirror to see that I was a younger version of Anis- a handsome and masculine face with copper-brown eyes and kissable lips. “Demigod,” I said in a deeper tone that could easily pass Anis if I was his age.
“Right,” the same voice agreed in my head. “Name’s Perseus, Malachi. Charmed to meet you as you’ll meet your final mate soon enough. But I figured that now was perfect for us to meet. And tell my brother Hyperion that I said hello.”
I looked up at Dad who indeed shifted into his demigod form. “Tell Perseus that I said hi,” he replied, grinning widely. “We could totally own Halloween and get boatloads of candy.”
“I’ll bet,” Floriana replied. “First, I’m meeting Orpheum the Gorgon and now Perseus the Demigod. Malachi, you are one lucky bastard on hell. I swear that some Omegas get all the luck. I’m not hating on you, I’m just sayin’.”
I believe her. Before I could reply, a final wave of pain rippled through my body that had me collapsing onto the carpeted floor. “What’s happening to me?” I moaned as I felt my muscles and bones shift.
“The final form,” the Moon Goddess replied. “It’s your Sun God Wolf.”
That had everyone erupting in chaos as Gavin, Ferdinand, Cayden, Clayton, Taylor, and Terrell shifted into their wolves and surrounded me for comfort. “Breathe,” I heard Gavin say in my head. “Breathe and relax.”
I did so, closing my eyes and letting the radiant glow from my Great-Grandmother calm me down as I counted backward from twenty.
“Hello, Malachi,” a deeper man’s voice said that rumbled like thunder in my head. “Do you know who I am?”
“Y-you’re my final half,” I said through the mind-link. “My S-Sun God Wolf.”
“That I am. I’ve been waiting for this moment right here to finally come back to life,” he replied. “And I am glad that you and I will soon be one. Close your eyes, my child. Close your eyes and let me come to life.”
I exhaled a deep breath as I was swallowed whole by the darkness...

“Holy Donatella Versace,” breathed Aunt Valentina as I fluttered my eyes open. “This...this is very real. Malachi, love. Are you okay?”
I staggered to my feet to see that I was now a large wolf with my fur all gold like Salgiel’s wings. I was led to a mirror to see that I was indeed a fully-shifted gold wolf. “Whoa,” I said. “This is what I look like?!”
“Yes, in beast form,” I heard my wolf reply. “Close your eyes and imagine me as a human-: cropped hair in gold, light-brown skin, rose-gold eyes, and an athletic body.”
I did close my eyes and felt myself shift back into human form, everyone gasping in shock and awe as I was still dressed in the tuxedo from dinner. I was given the mirror by Azrael and I nearly yelped to see that I was the same person that my Sun God Wolf described. “Amazing,” I said in the same deep voice. “I look-”
“Gorgeous?!” exclaimed Aunt Ciara, snapping away pictures on her phone, Uncle Miles sneaking in a selfie.
“God-like?!” suggested Aunt Fianna.
“All of the above and then some,” implied Aunt Bianca, her daughter filming away everything on her phone as Aunt Arianna (who had arrived with her mother earlier). “I’ll bet.”
Dad looked stunned, steeling away the tears that were threatening to form. “Malachi,” he breathed. “I knew that you were a special boy the day you and your brothers were born, but I never expected this.”
“Ditto,” Alain added, he and my other fathers nodding in assent with my brothers.
“What do you think, Malachi?” the Moon Goddess asked me.
I took a deep breath, needing to find the right words to say. “This is...wow,” I replied. “I can only imagine how the rest of the world will react.”
“They will know immediately,” She intoned. “I have already asked Hermes to spread the word to all of the supernatural packs, covens, and communities across the globe of the return of the Sun God Wolf and you assuming the role. Legions will support you, but there will be some who will still not believe. Still, there is no denying what I have designed since the beginning of time. You are destined for greatness as the Moon Wolf Prince and the Sun God Wolf King. Just remember to trust in My plan, your family, friends, and your mates. But most of all, trust yourself. Believe in the greatness that you are offered. Believe in your power. Believe in you.”
“Well said, sister,” replied Enya. “Now, about Alyssa and the two stalkers. They will ally to try and break the bonds between you and your mates, my sons and the final mate included. But they will not succeed. Two of the three will quit when they notice your true greatness while the other will fall by his pride. Malachi, you must continue to train with your hunting godparents, learn about your royal duties, and finish your education. The time for you to prove your worth will soon be at hand, but the journey will not be easy.”
“Agreed,” Archer commented. “My brother and I will amplify his royal lessons on being a future ruler. And maybe the gods and goddesses can help as well.”
“I want to have my radio station track his journey,” Uncle Topaz suggested, his eyes lighting up in glee like the Fourth of July fireworks. “I haven’t had this much fun since I met Carson at his homecoming ball!”
And as everyone was making different suggestions, I snuck out to the main hallway, briefly stopping a nearby butler to ask for a cup of tea. Talk about gag-worthy moments. “Uh, Sun God Wolf?” I asked my current beast half. “What do I call you? I know the names of my other supernatural halves, but I don’t know yours.”
I heard him chuckle in my head. “You may call me Amon-Re, named after the Egyptian sun god,” he replied. “And as She who created me said, trust in Her plan and the love of our mates, family, and friends. Trust yourself, Malachi.”
“Thank you,” I murmured, noticing Pauly coming out to join me with his mother following behind him. “What a night, am I right?”
“You bet it is,” my godbrother replied. “Dude, I can’t believe that you’re the Sun God Wolf. If Bethune Memorial High gets wind of this, you’ll be an instant celebrity. I ought to be kneeling to you right now.”
I snorted. “Pauly, you know that I’m still the same humble Omega wolf that grew up next to you since we were kids,” I commented. “And no matter what, you’re still my best friend.”
Pauly smiled widely. “Thanks, Malachi,” he replied. “So, what are you going to do now?”
I turned to the now waning half-moon that lit up the night. “As She said, I prepare for the inevitable. And I’ll need a lot of help to get through it all.”
And that was the truth.

Third-Person POV
Meanwhile, in Laramie, Wyoming...
While Malachi was mentally preparing himself for the next chapter of his life, word had already spread about him being the legendary Sun God Wolf coming to fruition. And all the packs and covens both big and small were surprised by the news. For the two brothers who were watching the news, this had changed everything that they were originally planning.
“Whoa,” said the first brother. “Dawson, our lovely royal mate is the LEGENDARY Sun God Wolf King. I thought that it was all a myth.”
“Not at all, Ryker,” the second one that was named Dawson commented as he and his brother watched the news that unfolded the breaking headline that would get everyone talking the next day. “The Moon Goddess always has a way with fate and keeping the hidden mysteries in the dark until the time was right. This is no different.”
“What about that Cunningham girl that’s been sending him those letters? Ryker asked. “The thought of her trying to kill what’s ours doesn’t sit with me well. But then again, she might be very useful.”
“What on earth do you mean by that?”
The brunette-haired twin Alpha grinned. “I propose we form an alliance with Alyssa Cunningham so she could get the Magnificent Eight back as her mates alongside the Sons of Enya and the unnamed thirteenth mate. That way, we can claim Malachi as ours.”
Dawson shook his head. “That’s just playing with fire, brother,” he replied. “But you may be right. Contact the rogue phoenix and ask for her to arrive here in Laramie. And let the maids know that the Red Fang Pack might be welcoming her as soon as next week. For now, we continue to bide our time and lie in wait. I can feel our prince’s energy from here. And if we’re not careful, we might be in danger.”
The two Alphas of the Red Fang pack continued to watch the newsreel, silently making plans to ally with the rogue phoenix so she could claim the 12 mates while they would claim Malachi.
But little did they know that a set of deep-blue eyes was watching them in the shadows of the living room. And these eyes were part of royalty. “Silly dodo birds,” the cheeky voice of Thebes murmured. “One of you two will see the light and the other will continue to play with fire. But in the end, you will know the truth. Oh, well.”
With a snap of his fingers, the djinn vanished.
