The Sovereign Heir (Book 1)

Chapter 25 Lunch Date With The Prince

I sit in my car for what seems like an eternity with a finger to my temple, will I even be able to handle this? I should tell Nolan what I really do, nope no I shouldn’t. He will flip out. I need to talk to someone, let me call Dr. Spencer. Flipping through my contacts, I am going to send her a message to have a session in the next few days. Just as I was going to hit send, Nolan calls.

“Hey, I didn’t think I’d hear from you this early. How did your meeting go?” Nolan let out a breath, “Laina, don’t think that I’m crazy for saying this, but I felt like you were in a dangerous situation since a little after ten this morning. I know that’s not possible; you’ve been with Bryant all morning.” Damn it! Damn it! He felt it, what the hell am I going to do now?

If I shut out our connection he will be more suspicious. “I have been fine, if you count being geek talked to death with super smart techs, then yes it was dangerous, dangerously boring.” Nolan let out a nervous laugh. “Do you want to meet for a late lunch, that’s if you’re free.” I am physically free but mentally was another story. ”Yes, I’m free. Are we doing casual or semi? Wearing a track suit at the moment.”

“You look beautiful in everything you wear; casual is good. Let’s meet up at El Merkat .”

“Okay, cool see you soon.”

Pulling out of the underground parking garage, I head to Palo Alto. Nolan is parked waiting for me. Taking a deep breath, I get out the car walking towards him, placing my happy face on. He plants a kiss on my lips. “Are you alright, Laina?” Girl, get your game face on! “I’m fine just a little tired from sitting through all the tech presentations.”

I gave him a smile as he took my hand as we enter the restaurant. It is a taste of Spain without the passport, it’s not like I really needed one to travel. We both order the seafood paella; having some lemonade while we waited. ”Love, are you thinking about last night?” Him bringing that up put a cheesy grin on my face, “No, but now that you mentioned it, I certainly will be.”

My reply seems to put him at ease. “Do you feel like what we did or what I made you do to me was wrong?” I can see him squirm a little bit from my question. “Uh…umm, I just don’t want you to have any regrets if you decided you don’t want to do this anymore.” Ah, my shitty mood made him think I was regretting us. ”Nolan, its fine and I don’t have any regrets, do you want to do some more things to make me more shameless,” I give him a wink, it finally put him at ease. “Let’s just take it slow, I want to do this right with you, if that’s okay?” Alrighty then, looks like I’m the predator and he is the prey.

Heat Near Full Bloom

The next couple weeks were uneventful. Nolan used nighttime runs to avoid me raping him, I took him up on his offer to sit on his face. He is holding out on me; I got the occasional dry hump and groping, some oral action. If I tried to touch his junk, he went into full retreat. Nolan is avoiding my vagina anywhere near his penis like a recovering alcoholic avoids a bar.

In his own words, “It’s like kryptonite on steroids for me if I come into closer contact with it; game over”. He is being such a prude all of a sudden, I put my hand on his dick one night we were in bed, and he popped up out the blue saying he was getting on the treadmill. Can women even experience their own version of blue balls?

The hard drive had even more than I bargained for, we had exact timelines of the snatch & grabs. With Bryant’s analysis of the network breaches, he was able to create a Fort Knox version of a fire wall. I got to get to the realm and find the scrolls from Elijah’s time on this plane, I can’t help feeling I’m missing something. Nolan had some suspicions when he occasionally couldn’t find me or call me when I was out on a mission. These time zones were wearing me smooth out, it was worse than jet lag, especially Siberia .

We are camped out in Paris camouflaged in the trees, I’m technically at the club right now as far as Nolan knew. “Commander, they are coming through Parc Monceau right beneath us. It’s an elf from what we can tell.” Elves are very hard to catch, even for me. The only way one has ever been captured is through insider information.

“That may be, but can they keep them with us in the way. I spot 30 warlocks; they aren’t taking any chances since we’ve countered them every time. No infinity bows tonight, they’ll be expecting that. Melee weapons only, we need to disrupt their magic.” I steadied myself, letting the tension I’ve been feeling roll off my back. “I’m going in now!”

Orbing in the center with a flying hammer at the ready, as expected they start to attack me with dark magic. The sky is clear tonight, nothing like a lightning strike to shake things up. Eiram begins summoning cloud cover and lightning to hit me, I splinter out the electricity, neutralizing the warlocks. “Semble que vous devrez compter sur vos forces physiques (seems like you will have to rely on your physical strengths).”

They aren’t expecting anyone else, we changed tactics just like they did. My team is completely cloaked thanks to our updated gauntlets, taking them out one by one from the outside. Inside I spin my hammer connecting with the warlocks in my center sending raw energy out with each contact. Sending my right knee to the throat and my left to the head with a sickening crack in the air, I took out the last of them.

I remove the hood, revealing an elven princess. Someone close to the royal family betrayed them. “Tu es en sécurité maintenant, il y a un traître parmi ton people. Nous allons emmener au royaume, vous ne pouvez pas rentrer chez vous pour l’onstant, compris?” (You are safe now, there is a traitor amongst your people. We will take you to the realm. You cannot return home for now, understand?) Princess Emmaline nods.

My scout Trevor portalled the princess out, while the others did a full sweep. I rummage the pockets of our enemy, taking everything we could later inspect. The warlock I thought I killed had a little life left in him and let off a shot gun blast aimed directly to the back of my head. Spinning on my heel, I launch it back to him turning his head to the consistency of applesauce.

I feel so not myself, I needed to go home and decompress from this shitty ass day. Not only was this mentally exhausting but gradually became physically taxing.
