The Secret Island

Chapter CHAPTER 24: Day Nine

Celine had a personal motto that she could get anything she wanted. And she got everything she wanted since she could remember. Sometimes, even before she asked for it. But she knew that this time was different. Relationships are complicated. She couldn't own a person.

For Martin and her, their feelings were unnamed, and the relationship was labeled with a short-term status. We both knew when it would end. She tempted fate and waited to see what was to happen. A risky experiment for her heart.

Celine looked at her 'new boyfriend' and stood on tiptoe to kiss his cheek. Martin's face turned red. He looked to his left and right, figuring out whether anyone was watching. We were strolling along the pier, seeing the townspeople and tourists walking past.

"Isn't kissing me in front of plenty of people a bit too much?"

"Not really. Why? Are you shy? I just wanted to kiss my boyfriend, and there was nothing to be ashamed about that. We don't have that much time together. My boyfriend is also too quiet and shy. If I have to wait for him to take action, I might have to wait a lifetime, and unfortunately, I'm an impatient person." She said that in the hope he would take more initiative in the relationship.

Martin's face turned redder. He was actually quite cute. He was shy, not knowing how to respond to her, annoyingly polite, but he was kind of cute. Martin looked around. He seemed hesitant for a while before quickly bent down and kissed her cheek before she could say anything.

"I never have a girlfriend that was so much younger. Just give me some time."

Martin's pleading words made her smile.

"Okay, but don't keep me waiting for long."

And he didn't let her wait any longer as she requested. He had told her that he was observant and a fast learner. But she didn't think it would be this fast.

That evening, he took her to a restaurant high up on the island for a clear view of the sunset. She was wearing her favorite aqua blue dress for him. When Martin saw her wearing this dress, he walked over and kissed her cheek again. "You are gorgeous."

There, a fast learner indeed.

But honestly, she didn't know if being in a relationship has a standard checklist that everyone complies with the same rules. From many past relationships, she learned that not all couples are the same.

Being affectionate is one part of it, but the small details, the feelings we both exchanged, the details are never the same. And this time, the relationship had such an effect on her feelings that she was surprised.

His gaze. The warmth emanated from their bodies when they were close to each other as he hugged her. The softness of his lips. And the sweetness of his touch. Everything that was him that made her heart pound until it exploded... everything that was him... was so strange... unlike what she had ever felt before.

"Umm..."

She didn't know how long he kissed her. But eventually, he pulled away and whispered in her ear.

"Am I good enough for you?"

He wasn't the type that practiced public display of affection, but once we were alone together, he liked to make her heart flutter.

She could only look down at the ground and avoided his gaze. Her courage disappeared. Martin bent down quite a great deal to meet her eyes.

"Hmm? What do you think? Am I good enough?" Then he kissed her cheeks again.

"Martin..." She called his name reluctantly. But all she got back was laughter.

"Dating someone a lot younger has a benefit, it seems." He turned from a serious person to some sort of a sweet mischief-maker. "Enough is enough. I'm hungry. Let's go have dinner." She changed the topic.

He was unpredictable. As if he had just programmed his brain that we were a couple and we needed to be more romantic while we were together. And so, this serious man completely turned into her starry-eyed boyfriend in a few hours. "You haven't answered me." He grasped her hand as she was trying to walk away to face him. And he bent down to kiss her again.

"Hmm!"

His deep and gentle kisses became more and more intense. He hugged her tightly as if not wanting to let her go. She might be crazy after living a while longer with his uncertainty. No, she must have lost her mind.

He slowly moved back and kissed her softly once more. His forehead touched hers. She didn't dare to look at him. She stole a glimpse at his teasing eyes, and that made her feel unnerving. From the shortness of our breath, she could feel that he was content with causing her emotion to stir up. Unsettling, her head was pretty much empty of his actions.

"For someone you said is too serious and not your type, am I good enough for you?"

His retort made her open her eyes. He had a good memory. But she didn't expect him to mention her own words. She commented about him a long time ago. His snap left her speechless. She could be angry at him for holding this small grudge, but instead, she kind of liked it.

She frowned slightly but nodded, nonetheless.

"You are! You are more than good enough! And stop it. You are messing up my lipstick. Don't you know this one is crazy expensive? Oi!" She whined while he laughed non-stop and helped her wipe the smeared lipstick on the corner of her lips. "Have I told you my girlfriend is beautiful?" He said teasingly.

Celine looked at his grinning face. She thought that although one day, the days we had were mere memories, every minute we spent together, every minute he was by her side was more than worth it.

In the future, she wouldn't regret being with him in this relationship at all.
