Felix's expression mirrored the manager's confusion. Since when did the Phoenix Legion have time for this? Or was there something more going on here?
"Bro, what the hell? I've never heard of the Phoenix Legion messing with places like this before." Jack's eyes widened. He looked to Felix for answers as the hostesses scurried out. "Relax. They're probably using this as a front to catch some fugitive," Felix guessed. His explanation seemed to satisfy Jack. It made sense; otherwise, it would be hard to justify why the Phoneix Legion would come all the way to this club.
"So, what about Madeline? I'm still in shock seeing our former class sweetheart here, of all places," Jack remarked.
Felix's expression darkened. He could not believe it either. Back in their innocent days, he and Madeline had dated for two years.
They had been naive then, and a kiss was as far as things went. There was definitely no rolling around in the sheets, but the memories they shared were still sweet. Madeline had been smart, beautiful, and kind. Of all the people Felix knew, she seemed the least likely to end up in this line of work.
"Not to butt in, but maybe we should call her over and find out what happened. You've got the means to help, after all," Jack said.
Jack also once had a crush on Madeline, but he had never mentioned it after she started dating Felix. Because of this, their friendship had not suffered because of a girl.
"Yeah." Felix had been planning to do just that as he felt uneasy about the situation.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and armed personnel entered. One pointed at Jack. "You, out!"
Felix gave Jack a reassuring look, and he left without fuss. He had not done anything illegal, after all. Moments later, Xena walked in alone to Felix's surprise.
Felix turned to her. "Isn't this overkill? Using the Phoenix Legion to raid a club just to mess with me?"
Contempt flashed in Xena's eyes. "I didn't peg you for such a playboy who would come to a sleazy joint like this. Do you really get off on women who only care about your wallet?" Finding out Felix was here had pissed her off. After all, she had slept next to Felix just last night. She was practically the dream girl of countless men. Yet, he had not batted an eye and even left abruptly. And now he was here at a club. Frankly, Xena felt like she had been slapped in the face.

Fair enough. Xena did not want to keep bickering. She looked him in the eye and pulled out a photo. "Felix, be honest with me. Have you ever seen this guy?"
One glance was all it took for Felix to recognize him. It was the guy who had fought him for the snakefruit on that hill.
"Never seen him," Felix replied coolly.
Whoever was behind the man had acted really quickly.
He had considered getting rid of the body but decided it was not worth the trouble. The only witness was that assassin from Inferno Clan, who would never talk to the authorities. Even if Xena dug something up, she would have no solid evidence. "That was awfully quick. You barely looked at the photo." Even a rookie cop would have caught that, let alone a goddess of war like her.
