The Rebellious Omega

King Braedon POV

Could this pain have something to do with Blair and was I somehow feeling it through our mate bond? But I had left her safely in our room, so what could possibly be wrong? The pain was intense, my heart hammering wildly in my chest. "Blair" I rasped and James's eyes widened as realization dawned, his own head c*****g. We all heard it then, our sensitive wolf hearing picking it up. We heard a bloodcurdling scream coming from upstairs. It was most definitely coming from Blair. "Blair" I thundered, getting to my feet and dashing through the door, dimly aware that James and Alpha Cody were following me. I tore upstairs, breathing heavily, rushing into our room to see it was empty, and heard sobbing coming from behind the bathroom door. I kicked it, sending it crashing open, and saw the rattlesnake instantly. I didn't have time to wonder how on earth such a thing had made its way into the bathroom, my claws coming out and swiping across, killing it instantly, before I rushed to the shower door, Alpha Cody and James looking stunned, while I grabbed my unconscious mate from the floor and carried her into the room.

"How do hell did that get in here?" James hissed, while I placed Blair on the bed, listening for a pulse.

It was faint, but it was there. I gave a sigh of relief, stroking her hair and putting my hand over her chest. The last time this had happened she had said it helped when I touched her, so I touched her bare skin where I could, even as I became consciously aware that Alpha Cody was seeing my mate naked, as was James.

I let out a low growl in warning, hastily putting a sheet over her. Alpha Cody blushed but James was unrepentant. Naturally. He was more interested in the snake, striding over to look at it. "I don't know how that snake got in here, but I know that it was intentionally let in and that's enough for me to want the person who did it found" I snarled as James nodded in agreement.

Alpha Cody looked at Blair sympathetically. "Is this your mate then King Braedon?" he asked quietly.

"Yes" I exhaled, seeing her eyelids beginning to flutter open "she is."

Blair's eyes were dazed as she looked up at me, confusion on her face that was swiftly filled with stark terror.

"Snake" she yelled and I quickly put a hand on her chest again, stopping her.

"Shhh" I soothed "it's dead. I killed it remember? You're safe now" I said and she relaxed slightly, her gaze going to James and then darting to Alpha Cody who smiled at her reassuringly.

"Hi," she said bluntly and his eyes widened in shock at how easily she spoke to him, while I fought back a grin "I'm Blair and you are?"

"Alpha Cody Maam," he said respectfully.

Blair wrinkled her nose. "Please just call me Blair" she grunted, sitting up and keeping the sheet firmly wrapped around her body "Maam makes me feel old" she complained.

She shot me a glower "Did they see me naked?" she asked sharply.

Alpha Cody blushed but James just winked at her. "Yes, but I covered you quickly," I said apologetically.

She swivelled her head to look at James who was smirking. "Take it off," she said and he blinked at her confused. "Take what off?"

"Your clothes" she growled as I gaped at her "You got to see me naked, now I get to do the same. It's only fair you bastard."

James's jaw dropped. Alpha Cody looked uncertain. James pointed at him. "How come you're not telling him to do it?" he protested.

"He's a guest," Blair said dismissively, narrowing her eyes "Now strip."

"Braedon," James said looking at me.

I grinned. My mate had a point but my wolf was not pleased at the thought of her seeing another man naked. It was worth it to see how uncomfortable James was at the thought of stripping in front of her though. I chuckled and kissed Blair on the cheek. "As much as James deserves to be embarrassed," I told her softly "I do not like the idea of you seeing another male besides me. Perhaps you could let it go?" I advised her with a chuckle.

She pouted. "Fine, I'll find another way for him to make it up to me," she said with a gleam in her eyes.

Oh boy. I would not like to be in James's shoes right now. Alpha Cody had subtly left the room and James did the same. Blair got up and quickly got dressed. "Tonight we'll spend it in another room," I told her "and I'll have the snake and the mess in here cleaned up. James will investigate what happened but I want you to remain on guard and stay in sight."

"I was supposed to go and train again today" she protested.

I considered it. "I suppose since you'll be with other pack members and Malcolm, you'll be okay but make sure that somebody walks you back to the pack house and James can walk you there," I said grimly.

She nodded. "I'm going to have breakfast and then leave."

She rose up on tiptoes and kissed me, my hand going around her waist and holding tight, unable to resist breathing in her delectable scent, her breasts pushed against my chest. I inhaled sharply as I pulled back "Are you even up for training after an attack like that?" I asked her stiffly, daring her to lie to me.

I knew she would try, but I was able to tell. My wolf could discern the truth from her lies instantly now.

She gave a cocky grin. "Of course I am, otherwise I wouldn't be going" she quipped and walked away, her hips sashaying, looking like she didn't have a care in the world, everything in the bathroom lying there forgotten and her body bouncing as she walked, her pert little behind making me salivate. For a moment I considered following behind her, but then I remembered Alpha Cody who was no doubt waiting for me in the study, and heaved a long suffering sigh. It was not an easy task being the Alpha King sometimes and it was even harder when all you wanted to do was throw your mate on a bed and ravish her completely. I gritted my teeth and began to make my way downstairs.
