The Rebellious Omega

Chapter 229

Blair POV

Pain. Pure pain shot through me. I was dimly aware of Brynn cutting me, as she held me hostage, my body feeling like it was floating, my head spinning. I could hear Braedon's shouts, and Brynn's laughter in my ear and felt the ground beneath me as I toppled forward, my body feeling like it was burning as Braedon rushed to gather me frantically in his arms, Sierra right behind him. My body felt like it was aflame. I blinked up at my mate, seeing the worry and the panic in his eyes. My breathing was rapid and shallow. I could feel the blood oozing from the wound. I was still having contractions, which were coming thick and fast. Sierra's expression was grim. I could feel the panic in the air and knew that this could be the end for me and for our pups. My chest tightened. My pups, our pups, were my priority. I had to save them, at whatever cost. Even if it meant that cost was my own life.

"f**k" Braedon roared, while Sierra knelt beside me, examining the wound "that f*****g b***h" he snarled "I'm going to kill her when I get my hands on her."

"Braedon, concentrate on Blair right now. She's what you need to worry about. A doctor is coming but she's weak. Her pulse is thread."

Sierra's voice was filled with concern. She was hesitant to touch me. I blinked up at her, my eyes beseeching. Time was of the essence. Did they not understand that with every second that passed, the pups were in danger of dying?

My mate nodded grimly. Without even hesitating, he bit into his wrist, tearing into it and causing blood to come forth. He placed his wrist in front of me and forced me to drink. I swallowed, feeling the power of his blood course through my veins. The wound in my stomach was slowly knitting together, but my fear was for the babies inside of me, my screams strangled as I lay there, unable to move, Braedon's eyes fixed on me.

"The babies" I rasped, as Braedon glanced at me, my hand reluctantly pushing his wrist away "They're coming Braedon, they're coming now."

"It's too soon Blair" Braedon said with a growl "Try and hold out a little longer, the doctor is coming" he pleaded "I don't dare move you in this state" he added with a look of frustration and fear on his face.

I looked at Sierra pleadingly who winced. The wound was not healing as quickly as I'd like and it was right where a caesarian would be. "Cut me" I whispered "Cut the babies out while the wound is still here. You don't have a choice. The babies, they need to live." "Blair, you don't know what you're saying," Sierra said nervously, her eyes narrowing on my face and the color draining from hers.

I shook my head "They're almost here. I was supposed to get a caesarian. Trust me, they won't survive if we don't cut them out."

Sierra's lips flattened. Braedon looked like he was going to be sick. My eyes met Sierra's as she gave a reluctant nod. She reached down and grabbed the knife that had been abandoned, holding it tightly in one hand. The doctor came rushing out of the foliage, panting loudly, Sierra giving a sigh of relief.

"Oh, no" the doctor fretted, bending over and taking the knife with a steady hand "Luna Queen, we're going to have to cut you. I need you to hold still," she said anxiously "King Braedon, hold her down, Sierra you do the same" she instructed, "this is going to hurt a lot and I don't have anything to sedate her with."

My mate looked devastated as he held my hands down and Sierra looked upset as she held my ankles. The doctor gritted her teeth. "The wound is quite extensive, but I need to enlarge it," she said "before it heals too much. I'm sorry Luna Queen" she whispered, looking at me remorsefully "But this is going to hurt."

I braced myself, but even I was not prepared for the amount of pain that was about to tear through my body. I felt the blade tearing through layers of skin and muscle, felt the sharpness of the blade itself, the burning sensation as silver met flesh, felt the heat accompany it as my skin began to bubble and burn. It was agony. Pure agony. My head flung back as I screamed, my voice growing hoarse as the doctor continued. It only lasted a few minutes, but to me, it seemed a lifetime until she stopped. I cried, thrashing about, Braedon's hands holding me down firmly, although I swore that there were tears in his eyes as he looked down at me. I sobbed, wishing the pain would end, even as I knew that it was necessary. Another thing to hate Brynn for. I vowed I would make her pay for this and for the premature birth of my pups.

A push. A giant push. The sound of crying filled the air. I looked away, not able to bear seeing what was happening to me. I felt Sierra's hands leave my ankles as the doctor handed one of my precious babies to her. I briefly wondered whether it was my son or daughter. A tear trailed down my cheek. It hurt, so bad. Even breathing caused immense pain. I wasn't sure how I was holding onto consciousness as it was. Braedon's grip slackened for a moment as his head turned and I knew he was looking at the child, even as the doctor took a deep breath.

"Is the baby okay?" I whispered, my body shaking violently.

Everything I was enduring was for their sake, I reminded myself. Even as I acknowledged I had yet to birth to the second child. But I needed reassurance that the one I'd just birthed was fine, my eyes filled with tears. I would never forgive myself if my baby was harmed or hurt in some way.

I was cold. So cold. Despite the warmth of the sun and the air, my body was freezing and shivering violently. Braedon's eyes softened as he glanced back at me, a small smile curving on his lips. "Our son is perfect" he assured me, his hand stroking back a loose tendril of hair behind my ear tenderly "You're doing well Blair," he said hoarsely "now we just have our daughter left to go," he said thickly as my eyes closed for a moment in relief and resignation.
