The Rebellious Omega

Chapter 105

Blair POV

We were wandering past the stores when a small boutique caught my eye and I paused, looking at the window, the small mannequin adorable and causing my breath to catch. For a moment I felt an insane longing I couldn't quite describe and blinked. Sierra gazed at the childlike mannequin and raised an eyebrow "Something you want to tell us Blair?" she teased.

I laughed and shook my head "No" I told her firmly as the two men behind us continued to trudge along with the lingerie bags and embarrassed looks on their faces "I just, I don't know, sometimes I think about what it would be like to have a baby" I admitted sheepishly. Was that so unusual when you were in a relationship with somebody you loved? Braedon and I continued to be careful but part of me wouldn't be averse to having a child now that we seemed to be finding our feet and getting along so well. I blushed slightly.

There was a strange look on Josie's face. "Josie, are you okay?" I asked her quietly and she blinked, bringing her attention back to me, the look fading quickly from her face.

"What? Yes" she stammered "Sorry, I just, um, was thinking about something," she said quietly.

There was a look of pain on her face. I looked at her in concern but she waved a hand at me. "Do you want to go in?" she asked hastily.

I shook my head. I was worried about her and decided that moving on would prove more beneficial. My stomach growled loudly at that moment and everybody laughedout loud.

"I think that's a sign we should break for lunch," I said as Sierra and Josie giggled and the boys looked relieved "Let's go find the food court."

The men let out long moans of anticipation, their steps now more hasty as we wandered through the mall until we came to the large food court. We wasted no time in finding some tables close together and sitting down. Sierra and Baxter insisted on grabbing the food for everyone, while Josie and Buster remained with me. I leaned back and watched the various people sitting at the tables. Maybe I should have asked Braedon to come with me, I thought absent-mindedly, watching some of the couples wistfully. I was feeling a little sentimental for some reason, although I couldn't deny I was having fun regardless with Sierra and Josie.

Buster and Baxter sat at one table while Josie, Sierra, and I sat at another. We all had burgers, fries, and cokes and began to dig in eagerly. I gave a low moan as the food began to hit my tastebuds.

"God it's good," I said in appreciation, my mouth watering and my tastebuds thanking me, and Sierra nodded, her mouth stuffed with food.

Josie ate a little more delicately, while Buster and Baxter were polishing the food off as though they hadn't eaten in days. There was nothing but silence as everybody chowed down.

I saw a handsome guy out of the corner of my eye. He looked nervous, surrounded by a group of friends urging him on. I licked some sauce from the corner of my mouth and raised my eyes, staring up at him. He smoothed down his shirt, his brown hair flopping over his eye. It was cute. He cleared his throat and approached our table, Buster and Baxter keeping a wary eye on him. He didn't come across as dangerous or threatening but you never knew. Being this adorable could be a ploy to get us to let down our guard. I was fairly certain that he was nothing more than an innocent human though. He certainly wasn't smelling or acting like a shifter.

"Excuse me," the poor guy said, looking nervous, his eyes on me as Sierra and Josie put down their fries and watched intently with smirks on their faces.

"Yes?" I said confused.

Did he need something? I was surprised he wasn't approaching Sierra or Josie, as they were complete bombshells in comparison to me who was more of an average in appearance. The man fidgeted with his hands and looked over his shoulder at his friends who made motioning gestures with their hands, encouraging looks on their faces.

"I was wondering if you might like to go and get coffee with me sometime?" he said with a smile and a silky voice, summoning up some confidence.

Silence. Buster and Baxter glowered at the man, insulted that he dared to hit on the Alpha King's mate. Sierra and Josie were giggling. The poor guy was blushing now. I gave him a kind smile but didn't have time to answer.

"You're out of luck, she's already taken" snarled a familiar voice and my mouth dropped open as I saw my mate come striding up, his eyes flashing as he stared challenging at the guy who began to slowly back away in surrender, sensing the danger he was in.

"My apologies" he squeaked and my mate slid in beside me, taking hold of my hand and glaring at the man who immediately turned tail and ran, his buddies hastily following behind him.

"Braedon," I said, smiling widely at him but confused "What are you doing here? That wasn't very nice by the way" I scolded him, feeling sorry for the poor guy.

He kissed me possessively, pushing his tongue inside my mouth, his hand gripping the back of my neck as I felt myself swoon, my body responding with fervent ardor. I moaned, my eyes closing as I felt desire wash over me, forgetting completely about my friends who were watching in awe. He pulled back and gave me a smirk. "You're mine" he growled "and I was ensuring nobody else was stupid enough to make a move on you."

I should have been indignant or angered by his words but instead, I felt a fluttering in my stomach. I could only stare at him dazed as he picked up one of my fries and popped it in his mouth grinning widely. Buster and Baxter looked relieved. "Wow," I heard Josie whisper to Sierra "I need me a mate like that."

"Tell me about it" Sierra murmured "They practically caused me to fall over in a dead faint. It was like something out of a romantic novel."

I fought back my laughter. "Seriously what are you doing here?" I asked him and he gave a nonchalant shrug.

"I wanted to spend some quality time with you," he said seriously "because I have some pack business that will require me to travel tomorrow and I'm going to miss you."

His words had a finality to it and something else I couldn't decipher as I stared into his eyes, feeling a pang as I contemplated what the next few days would feel like without him.
