Chapter 76
He could feel her pull back away from him.
"So after you hurt her. Then you let her go with another man that was claiming to be her mate? Even though she told you she was scared?"
Zion felt gutted. He loved her so much it hurt at times and seeing her there with her lips slightly parted and her brows furrowed with her cheeks a light pink from the cold air and strands of her hair flying around looking confused made him want to get down on his knees and beg her. There were no words to excuse what he did. He had let his emotions get the better of him. He had not reciprocated the love she had shown him and because of that he was losing it all. He didn't feel worthy of having her now.
"I guess in a sense I didn't understand that you could love me for me so I used it as an excuse the first chance I got." he pleaded with her. "That you were too good for me. There's nobody else for me, Kiarra. There will never be anyone else just like there isn't anybody else for you."
She looked away from him to watch the traffic passing by and somehow she seemed even smaller to Zion. She looked like she had lost weight.
"So you said she or rather I got hurt?"
"I knew I made the biggest mistake of my life the moment you left so I went after you. On the plane I felt that you were severely hurt."Many paragraphs are missing. I thought at first it might be because you didn't want me any more after all the hurt I put you through."
Kiarra pursed her lips and shook her head.
"No, I don't remember you."
Zion stretched out his hand to her and Kiarra looked down at his large hand questioningly.
"We are mates so you should feel the mate bond."
"No I think I'm fine"
"You don't want to?"
Her eyes were cold as she looked at him. She had pulled her hands closer to her and balled them into tight fists.
"I think it's better if we didn't."
Zion felt himself panicking.
"Kiarra?"
"This is a far-fetched story. I'll stick to believing what I know."
"Kiarra" Zion pleaded trying to reach her but he knew that determined look in her eyes.
"You don't know me like that." she looked at the picture on the table and pushed it towards him. "Not like that anymore anyway. You think you can do all of that and just show up and then I'd run back? Why would I? So you can hurt me some more Alpha?" Zion could feel the small amount of warmth she had given him slipping away. He could feel the burning sensation increase in his chest.
"I'm already spoken for " she grounded out.
She looked for the waiter and he hated the fact that she would soon leave. He knew if he pushed her too hard she could vanish from him. "Okay," he replied quietly.
Kiarra sighed. Now that she thought about it she more than anything didn't want to head back to her quiet room.
"When do you have to head back?"
He held his breath waiting for her to tell him she was leaving now but she looked at him and shrugged.
"I don't know." She looked at him uncertain and frowned." The guys at the store probably won't know I'm missing for a long while and I don't feel like heading back to the palace yet so what do you want to do for the day Alpha Zion?" "We could figure it out. The guys at the store?"
"That's why I was late. I left my guards at the clothing store and exited through the back. They probably think I'm around there sipping champagne. They have to wait for me irregardless of how long I stay in there. I'll be fine I do it every once in awhile and then head back." "Where do you tend to go?"
"Mostly on dates and outings with men but I don't kiss and tell."
His body froze immediately. Zion almost lost his shit and he was seeing red. His wolf was dying to come out at the thought of his mate out with anybody else and he was trying to distract himself from thinking about it.
He tried to distract himself by drinking water only for the glass in his hand to start cracking and he had to release it.
"Are you okay Alpha Zion?" Kiarra asked, puzzled.
"I'm fine." he replied and he sounded pissed.
"Okay, I'll finish up and then we can go."
He was definitely not fine. Who the hell was she going out with and who was she kissing and telling with? He didn't want to ruin the moment or lose her so he stared at the traffic for a while until he reared in his wolf. She went about eating her food. He realized they hadn't really eaten that much and after a while he followed her cue.
He felt like he hadn't eaten in ages. He noticed whenever she thought he wasn't looking her eyes would trail over him. He hurried paid the bill and ordered three sandwiches and a coffee to go and when Kiarra looked at him quizzically he explained. "It's for my chauffeur."
They headed back to the park at the car where Samuel was sleeping. Samuel heard the knock on the window and opened the door.
"Princess." He made a slight bow as he came out looking dazed with his hair sticking up in awkward places. He didn't know how to approach her either.
"Your chauffeur is your brother," she stated, looking at Zion and Samuel scowled at him.
"Where would you like to go?"
"You're going somewhere with him?" Samuel asked a little too loudly looking back and forth between the two of them hopefully and Zion rubbed the center of his forehead
"There's a fair happening, it's half an hour from here. It comes every year. I think it includes a play with food and rides. I'm not exactly sure what it has this year but would you guys like to go?"
"Yes" Zion clipped not wasting a second in case she changed her mind. He wanted to spend as much time as possible with her.
They got in the car and it didn't escape his notice that she sat on the far end of the backseat as far away as possible from him. She gave Samuel the directions and they finally arrived outside the fair with its flashing banners, greeted by the music and bustling people with food in their hands. He could see her face light up and he thought why not.
There were tents with different attractions and he could see food trucks. They got out the car and he'd wanted to remind her he was in a wheelchair when she suggested a fair but he didn't want to put her off. He contemplated bringing Samuel along for the rides with her but he was being selfish in spending all the time he could with her alone.
"
Do you come here every year?" he asked as they entered, looking at the various activities they had going on.
"No, I used to when I was a kid. It's changed a lot since then, but no not for many years now."
They decided to watch a small production play put on by school students to raise funds and she got all teary eyed when the little children came on singing even though to be honest they were terrible. He made sure to tease her endlessly about it and it almost felt like were back together again, nothing out of step except the careful distance she was giving him. She had even made sure there was a seat between them at the play. He tried to not let it bother him but he was dying to touch her, to feel her touch him. It was an unbearable ache.
The fair wasn't exactly his thing because of the chair but he was enjoying her and that's all that mattered. As they spent more and more time together it was turning into afternoon. It felt like minutes and not hours were flying by. "Try this." Kiarra badgered him excitedly.
He didn't even have any time to process what it was before she was feeding it to him. She would smile every time he gave an opinion as if taking notes what he liked and didn't. She was getting more open with him as the time passed.
It was turning into evening and he still didn't want to part. Her father would slaughter him for having her out late while she was yet to be mated or worse but he was more worried about what could happen to her. It wasn't customary to be out with another wolf who wasn't your mate especially when you were a Princess to be mated.
"Kiarra"
"Mhm"
"Shouldn't you be heading back? I think your store is closed and there's probably an alarm out for you. They could think you were kidnapped." She wrapped her arms around her.
"The place has cameras and I should. But I'm also a grown woman and I'm enjoying myself, something I haven't done in a while. I can breathe with you."
A sadness enveloped him as he watched her. She was looking closely at the ferris wheel spinning with its flashing lights across from them in the open field.
"Let's go for a ride." she decided and Alpha Zion was looking at her as if she had grown two heads.
"I'm in a wheelchair." he reminded her.
"Okay and?"
She had always never seen his wheelchair it seemed, always suggesting things and pushing him out of his comfort zone.
"At the front of the platform there's an elevated ramp that your chair will go up on to access the ride seats and we can leave your wheelchair to the side. There's also not that much people for the ferris wheel either," she explained.
She had scouted it out and thought through every difficulty.
"You really thought of everything Princess."
"Come on, it will be a nice end to our day and you'll enjoy it. I promise", Kiarra goaded him.
She was so excited he didn't want to disappoint her.

They might still not let me on."
"They will. I don't ever remember seeing a restriction for wheelchair users. I think as long as you can manage and meet the other requirements, you're fine."
Her eyes looked at him hopefully and he caved.
The young long haired man at the front shrugged not caring when Kiarra asked and soon they got seated. She smiled brightly at him when the ride started to slowly move up. The Ferris wheel seemed to be in decent condition as it gave minor creaks as it moved with faded paint on the sidebars. She screamed in excitement despite the fact that it was barely even moving and he laughed.
"You're excited aren't you?"
Her hair was blowing all around her and her cheeks were bright pink from the cold air whipping around them. It explained why the ride was empty. Regular people would be freezing to death.
"They could have kept the ride in this weather." Zion suggested.
"It's not a fair without a ride."
The wind blew even harder as the ride picked up speed. She scooted close to him and the moment she wrapped her arms around him he felt the sparks go off. He knew she felt it too when she looked up at him and there was a certain innocence about her as her warm breath tickled his face. She broke the connection, looking away to peer out over the city and town with all the bright lights, buildings and trees.
Kiarra leaned her head against his chest as the ride sped up and she didn't miss the deep inhale he took of her hair. Zion was breathing in her scent deeply, he couldn't get enough of her smell.
Kiarra's arms tightened around him. He was nice and warm and she relished it against the whipping winds feeling his chest rumble when she screamed in excitement as the ride picked up. He laughed at her as she buried her head in his chest and he held her. When it came to the return drop she held on to him tighter. He couldn't fathom her letting him go when the ride ended and parting.
She pulled away from him as the reached the bottom.
"So?" she questioned as they got off.
"Yes, I enjoyed myself. You were right." he gave in and kissed the back of her hand.
She rewarded him with a smile and he found himself staring for too long.
"Do I drop you home?"
"No, I'm just going to call them and tell them where I'm at. They'll probably reach in five minutes max."
There was silence as both of them stared at each other. The wind was picking up and he felt like he had so much to say to her before she left.
"I had a really great time Alpha Zion" she hugged herself.
"I had a great time too and it's Zion. Can we talk possibly inside the car where it's less windy and quieter until they come for you that is?"
"Sure"
They both decided to head back to the car where Samuel was waiting. Samuel got the hint and excused himself to go use the bathroom.
She sat closer to him this time and leaned in to his side. Kiarra reached out and traced under his eyes.
"Your eyes are enchanting."
"Enchanting?"
"Yes enchanting." she insisted and her eyes were focused on his lips.
She boldly placed a hand on his shoulder as she climbed up on his lap, her warm breath fanning his face. He could feel his heart beating wildly. Zion made her come to him as she studied him. She pressed her chest against his and he felt the fire spreading through him as she pushed forward and gently kissed him. It was slow and cautious and it felt like heaven finally tasting her again. He let her set her own pace until he pressed into her, kissing her fiercely. Her hands ran through his hair, tugging slightly and he felt her rub in a slow back and forth motion against his hardness.
Zion's hands wandered up and down her soft body feeling her curves and running down to her warm thighs that were now exposed. Jesus he needed to be inside her. Kiarra felt like she was starved and the ache between her legs was unbearable. Her heart was ramming so hard in her chest, she had to stop. She pulled away from him, breaking the kiss trying to catch her breath with her forehead pressed against his. Zion kissed her softly, holding her waist.
"Stay with me" his voice made her feel weak wanting to give him everything she had. "Stay with me Kiarra."
She knew what he was asking her. Her body stilled and she pulled back to look at him. He was dead serious and a sadness was looming in his eyes.
The passionate moment was transforming into something else that she didn't want.
"I can't"
She could see the pain in his eyes.
"Why not?"
His eyes were pleading with her and she could feel her heart breaking. She went for a simpler truth.
"Because I can't mate with a man who would hurt me like that even if he was upset with me plus I can't remember any of it."
"It was a mistake. I'm so sorry. Even if you don't forgive me now just give me one more chance please."
He scooped her up holding her tight, breathing heavily into her hair.
"Please stay. If you leave I'm not going to survive without you. I can't live without you."
"Zion" she called to him and he wouldn't let her go.
"Kiarra please, I'm begging you. Stay with me. When you came along I was lost, I didn't want to live but you loved me irregardless. I'm begging you please stay."
His arms tightened around her and she felt the warm tears sting the corners of her eyes.
"Please don't leave me." his voice cracked "Not again."
"Zion," she called to him and when he pulled back to look at her she kissed him hard. She used it as a chance to break out of his embrace, slipping out of his arms. "Goodbye"
She opened the door quickly and Zion didn't stop her as she ran out of the car leaving him there.
