Chapter 29
It was bitingly cold as he walked through the rainy town. He almost ran into a woman and her child hurrying on the sidewalk but was quick enough to side step them. The little girl looked up at him curiously with her big blue eyes as he passed and he gave a faint
smile before returning back to his cold expressionless self.
He stopped for a moment looking into the window of the shop with the glimmering lights. He was taking in the unfamiliar town. Christmas decorations and products were already starting to be put out making the stores shine even brighter and come alive. People loving Christmas so much they would start even two months early had always fascinated him. The town really was beautiful, that he could agree with. She picked a lovely place. "Can I help you sir?"
A brown lady fixing the sign outside the store that dazzled in red and green with the words Merry Xmas turned to ask him.
"No. I was just admiring the lovely decorations." he politely replied.
The store he was standing in front of sold used books and clothes. It was a thrift store with mountains of used goods piled high in different sections. Visit Jo b n i b-.com to read the complete chapters for free. He might as well pick up something to read while he was here. It would take up some of his free time while he did his job. He leaned his tall frame forward and looked at her.
"On second thought I might as well go in and take some books. With this weather it's the perfect time for reading."
She flashed him a warm smile straightening the sign.
"It certainly is. Jodie in there will help you." she sighed. "Weather like this is perfect stay at home weather. Unfortunately, I have a business to run"
She rolled her eyes and he gave her another fake smile before heading in.
Weather like this was nothing to him. He was used to the rainy weather in England. He picked three books out. Two he would be interested in and one that he would never in his lifetime read and headed to the young cashier. She was extra flirty with him and human. She packaged his books and handed him the bag.
"Well sir I hope you find that old friend of yours. Thank you for shopping."
"I hope I do too. Have a lovely evening."
He headed to the pizza place across from the shop, his boots squeaking on the wet sidewalk. He needed to reach back to the motel in time for his phone call. If he missed it he would be in a world of problems. The place was full of wolves, just how big is this Cartier pack? He hurriedly collected his order and trudged through the light rain shielding the pizza box in a plastic bag under his coat and headed in the direction of the motel.
The place was decent he had to give it that. It wasn't five star but decent. A cat sniffed hungrily in his direction and ran for it's life the moment he headed up the steps of the blue building.
He checked his phone but there were no missed calls and he had about half an hour to spare. He decided to take a shower and make a detailed list. The entire room was pitch dark and he made no move to turn on the lights. He liked it that way. With his senses he could see easily.
He would need to survey a bit and then make a plan. He quickly scarfed down the pizza and showered. As he got out of the shower the phone rang and he cursed walking through the steam to grab the device. On time as usual down to the very second. "How are you enjoying Crystal Harbour?" asked the cold voice.
"It's not much different from England." he breathed into the phone walking across the room.
"Is everything in place?"
He'd been doing quiet survey of the area and the pack borders for a while now.
"Everything is in place." he responded but he knew more information was needed so he added on.
"I've started surveying the area and the pack borders. I just need to pinpoint her. Then with your order of course I will strike."
He pushed back the curtain at the window and looked down at the lonely wet road outside.
"It shouldn't be too hard although she is well trained. With all that is happening I doubt she will see it coming." the other voice directed him.
He knew that meant that since she was with her fated mate she would be distracted focusing solely on the Alpha so much. She would be off her game and never see him coming. It was smart. He was surprised to be finding some difficulty which he would never relay. The place was well guarded like a fortress and she didn't exit the pack grounds so he had a small issue. He would come up with some way to easily break in though. He would have to disable the cameras and find a weak spot. Plus being Lycan meant he was faster. He could take them out without them even blinking.
"Reminder that this is to be carried out cleanly and precisely. There is no room for error." the voice pulled him out of his thoughts.
44 ་
There will be none. I will make sure she is taken out as clean as possible."
"I will be in touch in a few days."
"As always" he responded.
The phone ended with a click and he threw it down on the table. He needed to plan effectively. Honestly it would have been much easier killing the Alpha. He's already in a wheelchair but she was going to take some energy which he was looking forward to. He sat down by the window and wrote down the list of things he needed. When he was finished he noticed that the rain had started to pour even harder. He went and laid down on the bed, relaxing and closing his eyes.
