The President's Gift is a New Wife

Chapter 4

After getting out of the car, Jay walked up to Hannah. He was a head taller than her, and as usual, he

patted her head just like the first time he had met her. “You’re getting taller. Where do you want to go?

I’ll drive you there.” Five years ago, Jay had a fight with his family and was sent abroad. It was the first

time Hannah met him. She looked at him in disbelief. Jay reached out his hand and shook it in front of

Hannah’s eyes. “Hey? What’s wrong? You’re so happy to see me that you’re lost for words?” Jay must

have known what happened in the past month. He came back for Hannah. He patted Hannah’s head

as usual as if to tell her he was with her all the time. Hannah felt a lump in her throat. Tears suddenly

fell down. She sobbed but still forced a smile. “I’m going back to work.” “What happened to Liam is not

your fault.” Jay bent over and let Hannah lean on his shoulder. He comforted her. Hannah and Jay had

been separated for five years. However, it seemed that nothing changed. Jay, as usual, was Hannah’s

trustworthy friend. The sunlight penetrated through the trees and shone on them, making them as

beautiful as a picture. Right then, Calvin came out of the ward and saw them. He was surprised to see

Jay came to see Hannah as soon as he returned from abroad. “Damn! This woman is really good with

men!” Calvin sneered as he clenched his fists. He took out his phone and dialed a number at once.

“Fire Hannah right away!.” His voice was as cold as ice. Jay was driving really slowly and was able to

peer through the window. Hannah wiped her tears and cleared her throat, trying to sound normal. “I… I

just got married to Calvin.” Since Liam’s death, Hannah had stopped calling him Vin. When Jay heard

Hannah calling Calvin’s name in full, he was a little confused. After a few seconds of silence, the car

stopped at the intersection even though the light was green. Jay pounded the brakes and grabbed the

steering wheel so hard that his knuckles turned white. “What? You and Calvin…” “Yeah, we got married

and even got the marriage certificate.” Hannah had never seen Jay so emotional before. As far as she

could remember, Jay had always been calm. Everything must have happened too suddenly which

made him feel incredulous. There was no smile in Jay’s eyes anymore. After a moment, he released

the brake and stepped on the gas pedal again. However, he did not look at Hannah anymore. “When

did it happen?” he asked. “Just now,” Hannah answered frankly, “In Uncle Godrick’s ward.” “Did Calvin

really take you to the basement last night?” The news spread fast. Rumors like that would spread even

faster. It seemed that someone tried to defame Hannah by leaking those pictures. Although Hannah’s

face was blurry, it was really easy to recognize Calvin’s tall figure. In fact, most people suspected

Hannah leaked the photos herself. Even Calvin thought Hannah was the one who did it. Hannah

blushed, and asked. “You knew everything?” Jay nodded. Although he drove at a steady speed, he

could not calm down. If he came back a day earlier, would everything be different? In the past twenty-

three years, he had never been so remorseful before. After a moment, Jay smiled and tried to sound

normal. “Well, our little girl has grown up.” He pretended to sound casual and ignored Hannah’s

embarrassment. Hearing that, unspeakable gratitude surged up in Hannah’s heart. “Here we are!”

Hannah pointed at Quesdia University and said, “I chose to stay here to work after graduation last

year.” Jay nodded. Then he leaned over and took the phone from Hannah’s hand. He inputted a series

of numbers. When his phone rang, he added a name to the number he had just entered. It was his

name, Jay. “Call me if you need anything.” He shook Hannah’s phone in his hand and said, “It’s on

24/7.” Due to what happened in the basement, Hannah was a little embarrassed to look at Jay. After

greeting him goodbye, she quickly got out of the car. However, Hannah was still blushing when she

was on her way back to the office. Jay, on the other hand, did not drive away until Hannah disappeared

inside the building. “Hannah!” When Hannah’s colleague, Wendy Katz saw her, she asked, “Did you get

fired?” Hannah was shocked. “What? What did you say? Are you playing a prank on me?” “We

received an email about your dismissal notice this morning.” Wendy turned her computer and clicked

on the email to let Hannah read it for herself. “The email said you’re fired because of misconduct, but it

didn’t specify what happened.” Wendy had been an instructor at Quesdia University for many years.

She had a good relationship with Hannah. “Hannah, did you offend someone?” “Hannah is so nice and

polite. Whom did she offend?” another colleague interrupted. Hearing that made Hannah tear up. For

some reason, she felt aggrieved. She became so emotional after meeting Jay. However, what her

colleagues said warmed her heart. She raised her head and tried to hold back her tears. “Wendy, don’t

worry. I’ll talk to the upper management and see what happens.” Hannah sat on the chair for an hour

before mustering enough courage to send a message to Calvin. “Why did you ask someone to fire

me?” Calvin replied to her message very quickly. “Because you’re not a decent woman.” Before

Hannah could finish typing her second message, she received another message from Calvin again. It

was a short video, only thirty seconds long. As soon as Hannah clicked it open, her hands trembled.

“Did you send the video to everyone in the school?” Hannah wanted to reply to Calvin and ask.

However, after typing a few words, she felt ridiculous. She did not have to ask Calvin. A few words from

him could already convict her. Many people wanted to join the university after Hannah graduated last

year. As an undergraduate, she had to compete with postgraduate students. Although her CPA was not

too good, she was outstanding in her curriculum. That was the reason she was selected from the vast

number of applicants and started working as a teaching assistant. No one on the campus knew that

she had a connection with the Fullerton family. She had never used that power to get any benefits for

herself. However, Calvin used that power and made all her efforts in the past four years in vain. Luckily,

Calvin did not tell all of her other colleagues what happened in the basement. Buzz! Hannah’s phone

vibrated, and there was a message from Calvin again. There were only three words in the message.

“Come back now.” However, Hannah felt uneasy when she read that.
