*** KINGDOM OF WEX *** The gods' hallowed places of worship were destroyed that same night when judgment was delivered on them. The gods' high places of worship were destroyed by fire that descended from the sky.

"What do you think that might be?" Kay asked again. She was seated in front of Isaac on the horseback as Isaac sat behind her.

"I believe they are hounds."

"We need to find a place to hide. How far is the place we are going to?"

"We should be able to reach it in a few minutes," Isaac replied.

At this time, they both realized that the hounds were gaining on them really fast. To outrun them seemed like an impossible task.

The hounds emerged out of the treacherous darkness and surrounded them.

The hounds were six in number. Kay caught a glimpse of their glowing red eyes and sharp fangs and claws which glistened in the dark.

The largest amongst the hounds started moving towards them. Its eyes fixed on them and ready to devour them. The horse became unsteady wanting to flee the terrifying presence of the hounds. Isaac struggles to steady the horse but couldn't succeed as the horse started squirming.

Both Isaac and Kay landed their butt on the ground in the middle of the hounds that have surrounded them as their only rides fled.

As the hounds were about to pounce at their prey and to sink their teeth into their flesh; a shadowy figure leaped from the fig tree. The skies roared with thunder and the fallen leaves rustled in the howling wind. Out of the dreadful darkness of the surrounding thickets, emerged a charming feminine figure in a majestic red gown which was adorned with glittering lapis lazuli stones. Her ruby red hair reached all the way to her waist.

The hounds whimpered like scared dogs as the shadowy figure approaches. Her nectar sweet lips curved into a seductive smile as she bent down and offered Kay her hand. Her presence frightened the vicious hounds and make them run away in fear. The mysterious lady helped Kay up to his feet.

"What do you want with us?" Kay asked in a quivering voice.

"That's not a good way to thank someone that has just saved your life from the hounds."

"Forgive me, Nyx. I'm sorry about that. That was a rude question."

"You are forgiven," she replied with a smile.

Nyx conjured a red smoke from her left palm. "I am not here to hurt either of you. Now that I have saved you from the hounds, you have to choose my own path." The mystic red smoke floated towards Kay and Isaac and. As the red smoke got to them, it duplicated and entered their body knocking them down to their knees as if a mighty hand dragged them to their knees.

"What is this?" Kay asked.

"It's a gift from me. The Creator has chosen the side of the kingdom of Maxis. I'm creating my own warriors and you two have been chosen for I have granted you a fraction of my own powers."

"What are you talking about? I just wanted you to get to safety. I'm tired of fighting and having mysterious beings around me."

As Kay was about to speak more, Nyx disappeared into thin air as the rising sun cast a rosy hue across the morning sky. The golden fingers of the sunlight ushered in a new dawn.
