Chapter 45
Chapter 45
Just as she was about to question Nancy, Jack and Edgar walked over side by side.
Seeing Edgar, Nancy burst into tears and rushed over. “Edgar...”
Edgar glanced at her and pursed his lips in silence.
Under the dim light, his expression was a little gloomy.
Jack saw the embarrassment on Nancy’s face and asked, “What’s going on?”
The guests helped to explain. Although they were all partial to Nancy, considering that they did not dare to provoke Tom and
Grace, they did not say anything excessive.
Jack basically understood what was going on after listening to them.
He greeted the guests with a smile and continued to eat. After comforting Nancy for a while, he went back to the main hall with
the guests.
Nancy sobbed and took Edgar’s hand. She was weak, coquettish, and pitiful. “Edgar, don’t blame Grace. She’s probably in a bad
mood because of our engagement.”
Edgar looked down at her and asked in a cold tone. “What did you just say to her?”
Nancy was stunned by his question. When she looked up, she saw that he didn’t look so good. She quickly explained, “We’re
getting engaged. I just hoped that she could bless us. I didn’t expect her to get angry. That’s why she splashed the wine on me.”
“Really?” Edgar frowned, and his face became colder and colder.
Nancy
y still held a glimmer of hope. She nodded and tightened her grip on his arm.
Almost instantly, he withdrew his hand. “Nan, I really don’t understand you.”
Nancy choked.
It was the first time that his tone was so cold. Had he seen what happened?
She didn’t dare to continue pretending. If Edgar had seen anything, she would only make him hate her even more.
“Edgar, it’s because Grace made fun of me. I was so angry that I wanted to splash my wine on her... I haven’t changed Edgar,
I’m still the same person I used to be.”
Edgar didn’t say anything
Nancy didn’t get any response from him. She became even more flustered and cried bitterly.
“I’m so scared of you, Edgar. You promised to marry me and make it up to me for so many years. Believe me, I really didn’t mean
it.”
Edgar subconsciously frowned at the mention of the past.
He suddenly felt a little disgusted. Since she returned to the country, she had often mentioned the past when she wanted to get
something from him.
She was getting farther and farther away from the little girl in his memories.
Could she completely change after merely spending three years abroad?
As a woman, Emma knew very well what Nancy was doing, and she disliked her behavior. She rolled her eyes secretly and was
about to leave.
However, she was stopped by Edgar. “Mrs. Mellis, Nan is in a bad mood tonight. Take her back to rest early.”
Emma didn’t dare to refuse. She put on a loving smile and gently pulled Nancy.
It wasn’t until Edgar was completely gone that she restrained the smile on her face. She quietly squeezed Nancy’s arm and
muttered in a low voice, “You are just as cheap as your mother. He’s already gone. Stop acting. It’s disgusting.”
Nancy glared at her.
“Why are you glaring at me? Do you really think I’m afraid of you? Emma let go of her angrily and turned back to the main hall.
Chapter 45
After coming out of the Mellis family’s villa, Grace separated from Tom and returned to Patric’s place alone.
She took a shower, put on a facial mask, and ate some fresh fruits. She was in a good mood.
His cell phone suddenly rang
She glanced at the name displayed on the screen and answered without hesitation. Thank you very much for tonight. If it weren’t
for you, I might’ve made a fool of myself there.”
On the other end of the phone, Miss Zoey laughed loudly and said. “You’re welcome! “The Winter’ seems to be tailor-made for
you. If it gets tainted by that Nancy, I’ll be depressed.”
Grace pursed her lips and smiled.
Fortunately, she had noticed that there was something wrong with the dress when Tom told her that he didn’t prepare it. She
called Miss Zoey and learned that it was an imitation of “The Winter”.
Fortunately, Nancy was fatter than her, so it didn’t fit her very well. She asked someone to change it to a smaller one. That was
why she had the opportunity to exchange the dress.
“Anyway, thank you for what you did this time. When you come back, I’ll treat you to dinner.
On the other end of the phone, Miss Zoey was watching the video of Grace dancing that Tom had recorded. She smiled wickedly
and said. “There’s no need. I’ll be happy as long as you can be my model.”
“My salary is not low. Let’s talk about it when you can afford to hire me.”
Miss Zoey complained again and again about being wronged. At the same time, she praised Grace for her dance tonight.
The two of them were old friends who had not been in contact in many years. They chatted happily until late at night.
The next day, Grace got up on time and went to work in a good mood.
However, when she arrived at the office, all the employees looked at her with complicated and strange expressions.
Grace was puzzled, but she didn’t take it seriously and went straight into her office.
When the employees on the same floor saw her enter, they suddenly huddled together and whispered to each other.
A fat employee said, “Hey, is what’s said on the Internet true? I think the new director is quite straightforward. She doesn’t look
like that kind of person!”
A female employee with heavy makeup was unhappy. “Of course it’s true. I’ve long known that something was wrong with her.
She’s really not a good person. If she was ugly, I don’t believe you’d trust her!”
“Da mn fatty, who are you talking about?!”
“I’m talking about you!”
“Ahern, ahem...”
The bunch of them almost quarreled. Suddenly, they heard someone coughing and sat back at work in under a second.
It was Grace, who came out of the office to get some water.
Seeing that she was about to make her own coffee, Beth became flustered and hurried forward to help. “Ms. Salen, I’m sorry. I
was just about to bring it to you.”
“It’s fine.”
Everyone was sitting on pins and needles as they worked and stealing glances to check out the situation in the brea room. They
didn’t know if Grace had overheard them or how much she had overheard.
After Grace was done, she returned to her office with coffee in her hand. Her face was calm and expressionless.
As soon as she sat down, Beth followed her in.
She looked sincerely worried. “Ms. Salen, did you hear what they just said?”
Grace replied with a simple “hunm” but acted in a calm way.
“Then... you know about the trending topics on the Internet?”

What trending topic?
Seeing her confused look, Beth quickly explained, “Last night, someone suddenly posted a video on the Internet, saying that you
splashed red wine on Miss Mellis at a banquet of the Mellis family. Then this morning, someone exposed that you were Mr.
Fallen’s mistress. Now it’s all over the Internet.”
Grace suddenly stopped typing.
Beth then took out her phone and showed it to her.
She roughly browsed through the video. It had been edited, leaving only the scene of her splashing liquid on Nancy. She did look
very arrogant.
There was a chorus of curses from the crowd.
Mistress?
Did Nancy want to court death?
