The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 45

Maximus

POV.

I could hear Felicity running in the forest, and I knew it was time to make my move. Suddenly, I lunged forward, striking out at the girl Ava. She cried out in pain as she fell to the ground, and I stood over her, triumphantly. "You'll pay for what you did to my friend," Ava spat, her eyes flashing with fury.

I could feel my blood boiling with anger and hatred towards this stupid girl. I knew that she would be no match for me, and I taunted her, telling her that she couldn't face me alone. And at that moment, I knew that Ava was indeed strong and brave enough to even attempt to stand up to me.

As I continued to taunt Ava, I could see that she was struggling to get back up, and I realized that I needed to finish her off quickly. But as I prepared to strike again, I heard the sound of footsteps receding into the distance.

I knew that it was time to let her go, for now, and I turned to follow Felicity.

I felt something stop my foot. I was forced to move forward but I couldn't. I turned to see it was Ava who had clung to my boots all over the place, bitch.

"Idiot!" I spat.

I kicked her in the stomach, relishing the sight of her writhing in pain and bleeding from her mouth. "You should have known better than to come after me," I said, knowing that she couldn't speak through the pain.

But to my surprise, she tried to get up again, determination etched on her face. "I won't let you hurt anyone else," she gasped, still trying to catch her breath.

I laughed, amused by her spirit. "You think you can stop me? I am the Lycan King, and I am unstoppable."

Ava glared at me, defiance still burning in her eyes. "I may not be able to stop you alone, but I can certainly try," she spat.

I smirked, impressed despite myself. "You have spunk, I'll give you that. But you're no match for me. I just pity you, but don't push me!"

I kicked Ava hard, enjoying the sight of her crumpled on the ground. Her defiance was frustrating, but also somewhat admirable. It was a rare quality to find in someone these days.

"You really think you can stop me? You're nothing but a weak omega," I sneered.

Ava winced at my words but refused to back down. "I may be weak, but I'm not afraid of you," she retorted.

I rolled my eyes at her bravado. "You should be afraid of me. I am the Lycan King, after all."

Ava struggled to her feet, despite the pain in her ribs. She glared at me, determination shining in her eyes. "I may not be as powerful as you, but I won't give up without a fight," she said firmly.

Her words irritated me, but I could tell that there was something more to her resistance than just stubbornness. I watched as she hesitated for a moment before abruptly getting up and limping away. "I won't let you get away that easily," I growled as I pursued her.

Ava glanced back at me and smirked. "You'll have to catch me first," she taunted.

I followed her deeper into the forest, my frustration mounting with each step. I couldn't believe that she had managed to slip away from me.

Finally, I caught sight of her up ahead. She was standing in the midst of a thick fog, her eyes fixed on me.

"What are you playing at?" I demanded as I approached her.

Ava grinned at me, a glint of mischief in her eyes. "Just buying a bit of time," she said cryptically.

I narrowed my eyes at her. "Time for what?"

"A plan to dethrone you," Ava said, her voice low and conspiratorial.

I scoffed at her words, but a small part of me was intrigued. "And what exactly is this plan?"

"I can't say too much," Ava said, a hint of urgency creeping into her voice. "But I can tell you that it involves a group of rebels who are determined to take you down."

I felt my anger rising at the thought of someone daring to challenge my authority. "I'll crush anyone who tries to oppose me," I threatened.

Ava didn't seem intimidated. "That may be true," she said coolly. "But it's not just about strength. It's about strategy."

I bristled at her words, feeling my ego bruised. "I'm not some fool who can be outsmarted," I snarled.

Ava shrugged, as if unconcerned. "Believe what you want," she said. "But I know what I've seen and heard. And I know that there are people out there who want to see you fall."

I hesitated for a moment, contemplating her words. Could she be telling the truth? Was there really a group of rebels out there plotting against me?

But then I remembered Felicity, who had managed to slip away from me. If Ava was lying, then she and Felicity both had some incredible luck on their side.

"You're just trying to distract me," I said, my voice low. "But it won't work."

Ava didn't reply, instead turning and darting back into the thick fog.

I cursed under my breath and charged after her, determined not to let her slip away again. But as I ran deeper into the mist, I began to lose sight of her. "Damn it!" I growled, frustration building inside me.

I realized too late that Ava had been playing me all along. She had used her quick wit and sharp tongue to distract me long enough for Felicity to escape.

I shook my head in disgust and muttered insults to myself. How could I have been so stupid?

But even as I seethed with anger, I had to grudgingly admit that Ava had some impressive skills. She had managed to hold her own against me for longer than most humans could ever hope to.

And who knew? Maybe there really were rebels out there plotting against me. If that was the case, then I would have to be even more vigilant in protecting my rule.

But for now, my priority was finding and punishing Ava and Felicity for the trouble they had caused me. And despite Ava's cleverness, I had no doubt that I would eventually succeed.
