The Luna's Hidden Destiny

The Luna’s Hidden Destiny – Chapter 8

Rowan)

I paced outside of the hospital room, my hands clenched into fists as anticipation filled me. I suddenly heard footsteps, my father, he approached slowly, carrying two small cups of coffee with a sympathetic smile pulled on his lips as he walked over.

“Son, sit down, they will tell you when she is done, no use pacing like that.” He spoke calmly while handing over one of the cups he held.

“She’s been unconscious for two days, why did it take them so long to get her the surgery?” I sighed, grabbing the cup with frustration filling me as I glanced back towards the room once more, I was f*****g pissed.

The doctor said they wanted to see if her wolf would heal the fractured ribs on her own but it wasn’t healing fast enough. So my mate had been unconscious for two days in excruciating pain. I felt as if I could kill someone..

“She is in good hands Son, once she is stable enough then you can be with her again.” My dad reached out, placing a hand on my shoulder, and squeezed it in a comforting motion.

I sat down in one of the chairs outside of her room, hanging my head as I inhaled deeply, trying to control Bain. He was furious, the task of reigning him in was the hardest part of this all. Like last night, I had to apologize to the nurse for verbally ripping her head off just because she made my mate g***n while they replaced her IV. They had been checking her all night and finally told me she was ready to go in for surgery this morning. I would have been in the damn room if they would have let me. I almost made them but my dad convinced me otherwise.

“I don’t even know her name yet, and who the f**k knows what she has been through.” I said, swirling my cup as frustration filled me once more.

“Well she is here now, we have plenty of time to figure it all out. She looks pretty young, I heard the doctors say they think she just got her wolf, that’s why it’s taking longer to heal.” He sat back, crossing his leg in front of him as he looked over at me. Concern filled him as I ran my hand through my hair impatiently.

“Your mother is preparing a room for her. Getting the basics and everything.” He slowly sipped his coffee, frowning as he looked down at the practically black liquid, obviously not impressed by the taste.

“No reason to get another room, she will stay with me.” I growled, feeling Bain snarl inside of me as he grew even more impatient by the second.

I don’t know why but I already felt so protective of her. The memory of picking her up, the way my hands tingled, and how sparks shot through me just from her touch alone.

How I inhaled her sweet scent and felt her small body against me. It was as if my heart truly began beating for the first time, like her touch ignited something inside of me. Something I had been missing, something I didn’t even know existed. I remember how she was freezing and bruised, after wrapping her in my arms she had let out a soft whimper. I wanted to kill whoever did this to her.

I had to triple check it wasn’t one of our men, because I was out for b***d. I might have punched Tristan for putting her in the cell. I know it wasn’t his fault, how could he know? But when I heard her whimper, that one sound caused my heart to shatter, it was the saddest thing I had ever heard. I knew at that moment, that I was seriously f****d.

“Son, I feel like she needs to be eased into this, at least until we can talk to the poor girl.” My dad gave me a serious look, I know he was right but it didn’t help the fact of how possessive Bain was of her already.

‘Mine.’

I swear that’s all he had been chanting since the moment we saw her.

‘Any news yet bro?’

My brother and beta Blake linked to me, worry filling his voice.

‘No.’

I responded firmly, not wanting to be reminded of how long we have been waiting.

‘Alpha, the rogues have been taken care of, I inquired about the girl…I mean our future Luna, and they knew nothing about her. So she might possibly be from a different area.’

Tristan spoke quickly, his voice softer than usual which surprised me. I knew he still felt bad for locking her up.

‘Thank you Tristan.’

I linked, not wanting any more distractions as I sat here waiting. Just then, the door to her room opened. I hastily stood, setting the coffee on the ground as Doctor Lewis stepped out into the hall, closing the door quietly behind him.

“Alpha Rowan, the surgery went well, her shoulder was dislocated so we reset that and her ribs. The anesthesia should wear off in a few hours but we can’t expect her to be conscious fully for a while.” He spoke softly, clearly seeing the worry on my face. I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was even holding as I nodded my head. My dad stepped forward, shaking the doctor’s han.

“Thank you so much Charles, we know she is in the best hands.” He said appreciatively.

“Yes, thank you.” I nodded my head, almost forgetting my manners altogether, I just wanted to run in there and see her.

“Alpha, I just wanted to say, I think she might have been mistaken for a rogue. I’m not saying she isn’t, it still could be possible, but her appearance and health, other than the injuries she acquired, are all in good condition.” He said glancing between me and my father.

“Thank the goddess..and we appreciate all you have done, I’m sure we will find out more about her soon enough.” My dad said, patting his arm.

“Can I see her now?” I asked through clenched teeth, trying not to seem too anxious.

“Of course, thank you for waiting for so long Alpha.” He said with a soft smile, his eyes gleaming as he watched me rush into the room. As soon as I opened the door, her scent crashed into me. That honey and rain, a fragrance so heavenly it instantly calmed me.

‘Mate, our beautiful mate.’

Bain said in a low-content voice. He seemed to calm more than I had ever seen him as we slowly approached her bed. My eyes widened just from the sight of her. Her wavy chocolate-brown hair cascaded down her shoulders. Her skin was fair and smooth, and I couldn’t help but reach out and touch her. Sparks shot through me as I slowly stroked her beautiful face. She was f*****g gorgeous.

‘Beautiful, I told you, our mate is everything.’

Bain growled, making his point clear as I ignored him completely. I continued to study her face, her full pink lips, and her cute perfect nose. Her eyelashes were long and thick as they gently kissed her skin. I wondered what color her eyes were for a moment..knowing they must have been just as stunning. She looked so small and was definitely a foot shorter than me, but she was absolutely breathtaking. I silently thanked the moon goddess as I looked at my mate, my future Luna, the woman I knew without a doubt would have the power to destroy me. Suddenly I felt nervous, what if she doesn’t feel the same? What if she doesn’t want to accept the bond?

‘Don’t even think that…our perfect mate would never hurt us.’

Bain growled at me angrily, and for once I hoped he was right. So much for not falling for this girl, I was already breaking down and she hadn’t even opened her eyes yet. Suddenly someone knocked on the door lightly, causing me to turn around as my dad and a nurse stood at the door.

“Alpha Rowan, I just need to take her vital signs and then I will leave you two alone.” The older woman said, smiling softly as she noticed my hand resting on my mate.

My dad slowly walked in, eyeing my mate carefully, his own eyes seeming to sparkle as he glanced at me.

“She is beautiful.” He whispered, stepping forward as he placed his hand on my shoulder, his eyes not leaving her once.

“Something about her..she has the aura of a true Luna, doesn’t she son. My future daughter.” My dad’s voice was raw, his emotions rising as he now looked at me.

‘She will be our Luna, our amazing Luna.’

Bain agreed, and I couldn’t help but swell with pride. She does have a different air to her, something about her lit the room and filling me with pure joy. It was nice to hear that I wasn’t the only one that saw it, I thought it was just because of the mating bond.

“Your mother is going to love her, I just know it.” My dad said as he stepped toward the end of the bed.

I began watching the nurse intently, making sure every move she made was gentle and necessary. The way she turned her hand and checked her iv or how she took her temperature and checked her b***d pressure. After she seemed satisfied she looked up at me, smiling brightly.

“Once her pain meds wear off, then she should wake up. It might take awhile Alpha.” She said with a slight bow of her head.

“Thank you.” I looked back down at my mate, seeing her lips part softly, causing my stomach to flip instantly. After the nurse left, my dad brought a chair in for me, letting me sit down next to the bed as I waited.

“Dad, is it okay if you step in for a little longer? I just don’t want to leave her yet.” I asked quietly, feeling guilty for already abandoning my Alpha duties.

“Of course son, please, link me as soon as she wakes up.” He said once more, patting my back as he glanced toward my mate one last time.

“I will have the nurse send in some lunch soon, you should eat.” And with that, he was gone, I looked at my beautiful mate, rubbing her hand tenderly as her warmth literally filled my soul. I was so overcome with emotion, we found her, she was finally here. I would never let her out of my sight, I would never let my mate get hurt like this ever again. And I vowed to find who was responsible for this and end their life.

‘We will rip their throats out and watch them bleed.’

Bain chimed in, and I couldn’t help but growl, yes Bain, we will. If she is a rouge or not, I honestly didn’t give a shit, because now she was mine.
