The Lawyer’s Romance in Law

Chapter 369

Chapter 369 I Want to Sleep With You and Mommy

Stephanie subconsciously looked at Crispin. She had the urge to tell Elias that the man beside her was the one who made her head to the prison.

However, Crispin grabbed her shoulders and glanced at the man across from him with a smile. "Have you come all the way here late at night just to ask her this question, Mr. Winters? Steph is exhausted and needs. some rest. Why don't we talk about it tomorrow?"

"You have no right to speak. Get lost!" Elias was arrogant as he had no regard for Crispin at all.

A seed of resentment was planted in Crispin's heart after he was told off.

"Speak! Why did you go looking for Raymond? Did you force him to end his own life?"

Elias only wanted to get to the person who framed him. However, all the clues were halted after Raymond passed away.

Perhaps the culprit was watching him in the dark, waiting for a chance to stab him in the back.

Did he commit self-harm?

Stephanie's eyes widened in disbelief. "Did you just say he ended his own life? Why would he do that?!"

Although she was resentful of Raymond, she would never force him to do that. She didn't have the guts to do such a thing either.

Crispin, on the other hand, was calm and collected. A faint smile formed on his face when he learned of the news. Still, he pretended to be shocked.

He immediately pulled Stephanie behind his back and said, "Mr. Winters, this has nothing to do with Steph. She only went to the prison and scolded him. There's no way he committed self-harm because of her You must be mistaken."

Elias squinted as he found Crispin strange for always interrupting them.

With that, Crispin pulled Stephanie back into the bedroom and closed the door.

Elias looked at the closed door and sneered before striding toward Amanda.

"Is he dead?" she asked.

He nodded. "Yes, he has been declared dead. He committed self-harm by injuring his wrist. He had lost. consciousness from severe bleeding by the time they discovered him. As such, the doctors were powerless to save him."

"It's odd that he chose to harm himself at this point. His wife's corpse is still in the mortuary. Doesn't he care about her anymore?"

Amanda was puzzled. Raymond loved his wife, so he was even willing to take the fall for someone else just to get his wife's illness treated. Why would he end his own life out of nowhere? Elias fell deep into thought as he couldn't make sense of the situation either.

Suddenly, the door behind Amanda opened. Aiden ran out of the room while clad in pajamas. When he registered Elias' presence, he called out in surprise, "Daddy!"

Both of them were startled for a moment. Elias soon came to his senses and picked up his son with a

smile.

"You've gained some weight. Have you grown taller?"

"Yes. Grandma measured my height today and said I've grown taller!" Aiden wrapped his arms around his father's neck and snuggled up to him.

Amanda put on a helpless smile. What a loving pair of father and son. I guess no one can break their bond.

Aiden nuzzled his father's neck and said, "Why don't you stay over tonight, Daddy? I want to sleep with you and Mommy."

The two adults exchanged glances, not knowing how to reply to the boy.

They were in the Allegra Villa, so it would be inappropriate for Elias to spend the night here.

As for Elias, he hadn't returned to the Winters Estate in a long time since Amanda and Aiden left. He would feel lonely if he lived alone in the spacious home. "I'm sorry, but I can't stay over."

"Why? I want to stay with you! We haven't slept in the same bed for a long time. Don't you love me and Mommy anymore?" Aiden pouted with an aggrieved expression. Elias stroked the child's head. "What are you talking about? There's no way I don't love you and your mommy anymore. Why don't you come over to my place instead?" "Sure!" Aiden's eyes brightened when he heard that.

Elias glanced at Amanda. "Why don't we go back to the Winters Estate tonight? I haven't returned to the place in a long time since you two moved out."

"Well... I have to inform my father about it." Amanda had just moved into the Allegra Villa, so she had to inform Jack if she wanted to stay somewhere else.

Jack happened to come upstairs and heard their conversation. "It's alright. You can go anywhere you want. It's just that your mom and I don't have the heart to see you suffer. You can stay at his place for a few days. However, you can't stay there for too long since you guys are divorced."

Jack approached Aiden and gently pinched his face before saying with a smile, "You can go home with your daddy tonight. Give me a call when you miss me, alright?"

"Sure!"

Aiden struggled out of Elias' embrace to get down. "I have to get my toys, Daddy!"

Elias had no choice but to put him down, after which Aiden ran to his room to get his toys.

Amanda turned to look at Jack. "Thanks, Dad."

"Go ahead. Anyway, both of you need to take some time to think about your future." With that, he headed to the other end of the corridor.

Amanda and Elias exchanged glances. Despite knowing what was on each other's minds, they didn't utter a

word.

When they arrived at the Winters Estate, Aiden said excitedly, "Wow! My room looks the same, but there are more toys now!"

Aiden was elated, for the entire home felt like his kingdom.

Amanda put on a helpless smile and glanced at Elias. "You didn't eat much just now. Do you want some noodles?"

"I'm good. The cook has gotten off work, after all."

"I'll prepare it for you. Although it won't taste as delicious as what the cook makes, I'm sure it'll be good

too."

Elias replied with a smile, "I'll be more than happy if you're willing to prepare noodles for me."

He wouldn't ask Amanda to prepare noodles for him unless she was willing to do it, for he didn't have at right to do so. Moreover, he was in a worrying situation.

Presently, the Winters Family was deep in trouble, and he was the only one shouldering all the pressure. He was worried that if he collapsed under the pressure one day, Amanda and his son would be dragged into the mess.

In the dining hall, the man was seated there with his eyes closed to get some rest while propping up his forehead with his hand.

Too many things had happened as of late, and he had to personally deal with every one of them. Moreover, after Stephanie made Raymond end his own life, Elias couldn't even get to the person who framed him.

A moment later, Amanda put down a plate of pasta with a poached egg on top in front of him.

"Eat it while it's still hot. She then pulled out a chair and took a seat.

Elias stuffed some noodles into his mouth with a fork. The aroma put a smile on his face. "It tastes like home."

He would usually eat out, and when he was home, the cook would prepare food for him. Although the food prepared by the cook was as good as those served in a five-star hotel, it didn't taste like home. Elias hadn't enjoyed such ordinary yet cozy moments in a long time.

Amanda placated him by saying, "Don't worry too much. Take your time to look into the matter. Even though Raymond is dead. I'm sure we'll find some new clues. There's no way the crime is mistake-free. It's just that we haven't thought of some of the details."

When Elias recalled Crispin's behavior, he frowned. "Don't you think Crispin has been acting strangely? He seems to have become Stephanie's spokesperson now. It's as if she has lost the right to speak for herself."
