Chapter 7
I watched as Jericho came roaring down from the sky, landing with surprising grace for a beast so huge, and he snarled right at Jason.
Jason raised his hands slowly, stepping back, knowing all it would take is one snap of Jericho’s jaws and Jason would not exist anymore.
“I’m not gonna take your mate from you…” Jason’s voice came out shaky.
Why would he be telling the dragon that? Out of everything else he could have said, he thought the dragon is more worried about him stealing me from him? I didn’t understand at all.
Suddenly Jericho’s beautiful dragon transformed into his beautiful human form. Even as a human, he is very intimidating. He stocked toward Jason.
“If you touched Heidi, I will tear you to shreds,” he snarled.
Jason waves his hands in the air. “I never touched your mate, man. Not since I brought her here, I swear,” he gulped.
“If I were you, I’d forget this place exists,” Jericho warned.
Suddenly Jason shifted into a brown wolf, his fur matched his hair color, and he took off like a bullet.
And now it’s just Jericho and I, and I am suddenly aware that he doesn’t have any clothes on.
I don’t know why the thought shocked me, I mean his beautiful dragon could not have fit in clothes and there is nowhere for him to keep a spare…
I try not to let my eyes stray, but I can’t help it. His body is beautiful, and when I am able to finally draw my eyes back up to his, he is smirking at me.
“I’m all yours, my love,” he whispers, slowly invading my space.
And then I am surrounded by him. His mouth claims mine while his hands explore my body.
His kiss is needy and hungry. My own kiss was just as hungry and willing to give him what he demanded from me. Even as he ravages my mouth, his touch is gentle and soothing.
“I’ve missed you,” I say as I pull away, trying to catch my breath.
“I’ve missed you too, angel. But we need to leave. I know Nichole will come to check on you soon. I need to take you home-”
“Don’t send me back! Please! I can’t go back…” I freaked out.
The last thing I wanted to do was go back home to deal with my parents.
Rico decides to shut me up by taking my lips in his and stealing my breath. He runs his hands down my body in a soothing gesture.
“No, my love. My home. You are my mate and I need to get you out of here,” he explains.
I sigh in relief. “Oh!”
Jericho chuckles. “I’m gonna shift into my dragon. All you have to do is climb up to my neck and hold tight, angel. I won’t let you fall,” he promises.
I trust him. And honestly, what is the worst that can happen at this point?
He backs up from me enough to shift into his dragon, then lays in his belly waiting for me to climb up. It’s harder than I thought. His scales are smooth, like polished rocks, and they shimmer in the light of the sun. But somehow I am able to pull myself up with Rico’s help.
I can barely wrap my arms around his neck, and I am worried that I’ll squeeze too tight. But his dragon makes a grunt that sounds satisfied and we take off into the bright sky.
I’ve never flown before. Not even on a plane.
The wind rushing through my hair, and the pressure of the air currents send a thrill down my body. I was worried, but this is probably the most fun I have ever had in my entire life… And it is all thanks to Jericho.
All too soon, we land at a beautiful mansion set back in the forest.
At the door was a middle aged man holding a robe out to Jericho. He bowed to him as Jericho took the robe and slipped it on.
“My Prince. My Princess, I am so pleased you are safe,” he said with a kind smile.
The title shocked me.
“Your mate has been going crazy without you,” he smirked at Jericho with affection in his eyes.
“Heidi, this is Erik. Erik, may I introduce you to my sweet Heidi,” he smiled down at me.
My heart melted with that look.
“I am so happy to finally meet you, dear. My Prince, I thought she may be hungry, so I made some soup for the two of you…” Erik said with a gentle smile.
“Thanks, Erik. I got it from here,” Rico insists.
Erik bows again. “Very good, my Prince. I hope you two have a good evening,” and then he left.
Suddenly my stomach made a roar worthy of Jericho’s dragon. My face flamed, and I tried to hide behind my hands, but he just took my hands in his and chuckled.
“This way, angel. I have no idea when you ate last, but I know it’s been more than two days,” he growled at that, as he ledj me into a spacious dining room with two places set.
He helped me into my chair and pulled his chair right next to me so we were touching as we ate. I really was starving and started shoveling the thick vegetable and chicken soup into my mouth. I honestly didn’t care what I looked like right now. The soup was savory and calmed the gnawing in my gut that is trying to eat itself.
Finally when I had enough I leaned back in my seat and looked up at Jericho, who had been watching me for the last 5 minutes. He leaned over and kissed my forehead and pulled me onto his lap.
He just held me, like I was the most precious thing in the world. I placed my ear above his heart and listened to the strong, soothing pounding.
Then, suddenly the beating picked up and a moment later I am in his arms as he climbed his stairs and we entered what I am assuming is his room.
Then he gently laid me back on a bed of clouds.
He started kissing my neck, while his hands found the hem of my shirt.
Without thinking twice, I removed his robe from his body. My brain was already in a haze of lust and need for more of his touch.
“Heidi, I am scared,” he confessed whispering into my ear as he shredded my shirt in half, and tore my pants off in quick succession. “I am scared Nichole will come for me tomorrow, and if she does her hunters will take me,” he states.
I look up at him in confusion.
“We need to leave!” I insist.
Jericho shakes his head. “It’s already too late, my love. I am sure she will find me tomorrow… But before that happens, Heidi. I need you tonight! I need all of you,” he whispers.
And without any hesitation, I pulled him down to me. If this really is our only night together, then I am not going to waste it!
