Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Hansson locked eyes on Anthony with a fare as stiff as a board.
was clear as day to everyone that if Anthony continued to shoot his mouth off, Harrison was going to blow a gasket.
All to shrekt an outsiders
Anthony was having none of it, his throat working, but ultimately, he turned his cheek, unable to confront an irate Harrison
Enough We’re all pals here, is there a treed for the glares? Harrison, cool your jets and sit down!”
Finally, Theodore stepped in to cool the heated atmosphere.
Harrison sat back down in his chair without uttering a word.
Only he knew the enormity of the favor Markus had just done for him.
Reginald had already drawn his gun
If he hadn’t knelt down back then, Reginald would have shot him without batting an eye.
But kneeling to Reginald and taking off his mask? That would have been tantamount to broadcasting his share
If he had done so, he could kiss his reputation in Riverside City goodbye.
The “Brother Markus” he had uttered was heartfelt
Josephine asked, “What would you like to drink Beer or
“1… T’ll take a bottle of Opus One… make it two I won’t get any shut-eye tonight if I don’t drink mough, Harrison and afte some thought
He had shattered Reginald’s leg
Even thinking about it made his heart race, filling him with dread
He needed a few stiff drinks to settle his nerves.
Of course, these weren’t details that Theodore and the others needed to know
Then Josephine turned to Markus, who announced unabashedly. “T tar two bottles of Opus One also. It’s not a bug dira, just for the taste. Also, bring over the menu, I feel like adding a couple of dishes!”
Joseptane rolled her eyes, thinking, “You really don’t stand on ceremony, do you?”
Harrison seemed to have packed up on Markus’s modus operandi-it wasn’t post about the taste, it was about the price tag But he didn’t grumble, instead he chimed in “Listen to Brother Mark
“Brother Markus this, Brother Markus that Harrison, why are you acting like a lapdog Anthony jeered
Harrison shot him a sidelong glance. “If we can’t enjoy a good drink is peace, Brother Markus ans! I will take off & hole of Opus One or two bottles, I can foot the bill?”
Never mind a bottle of Opus One or two bottles, even ten or a hundred wouldn’t make a diet in arren’s deep pockets,
It was safe to say that no one present would bat an eyelid.
Except for Markus, of course
However, this didn’t well with Anthony
He was at a loss to understand what was wrong with Harrison tonight. He seemed to have thrown in his lot with Markus
Or had has in been scrambled
“I can’t wogach any more of this. Theodore! If Markus doesn’t hit the road, then I will
This the Arahony was the one rising from his scat
All of this is because Markus was just pulling Cordelia’s leg, huh? And Cordelia was the one who made the promise fast Are you a few sandwiches short of a picnic, Anthony Cordelia has said a thousand tunes that she’s not unto you Yer you th fancy yourself her knight in shining armor You’re barking up the wrong tree, man!”
Harrison was straightforward this time and didn’t sugarcoat it
He was shooting from the hip, speaking the plain truth
Some things are better left unsaid though Saying them aloud makes them just embarrassing
Anthony’s fare turned beet red

The swing a deep brath, he said, “Reginald got knocked about by a couple of guys! He’s in a bad way. One of his legs is busted tie’s aid in the hospital getting emergency treatment!”
“Hustle!”
The Footy was so quiet you could hear a pen drop
A few seconds later, everyone turned their gaze on Harrison.
“Did you did you guys do a Anthony asked, flabbergasted
Reginald was notorious for his brazen antics in Riverside City, having racked up a laundry list of grievances.
Many had a bone to pick with that guy, but with the Montague Crime Family in his corner, few had the guts to cross swords with him
The tuning around Emily’s untimely plunge made matters even more tense.
Thinking of Markus and Harrison arriving together…
It was as clear as a bell
Harrison’s eyes flickered with evasion and fear as he looked toward Markus.
Markus gave a subtle nod
“Yes I did it
Only then did Harrison admit it.
“Have you lost your marbles? Regardless of how brutish Reginald is, he’s still Angelo’s nephew! You’re playing with fire, Harrison You’ve just made trouble for your father!” Theodore admonished him, seething with anger.
A run-of-the-mill brawd would’ve been water under the bridge, family elders having a knack for turning a mountain into a molehill
But one of Reginald’s legs was disabled
Even if it was just to save face. Angelo would not let it slide.
In Riverside City, who could go toe-to-toe with the Montague Crime Family?!
“All along. Harrison and I have been with you guys. We have a rock-solid alibi,” Markus chimed in
You’re expecting all of us to cover for you two, indicating that Reginald’s assailants weren’t you, am I right?” Theodore inquired.
Is there a problem with that?” Markus countered.
Theodore let out a cold huff. “A big problem! You guys are latecomers. There are plenty of surveillance cameras outside,

Chapter 20
You can’t pull the wool over the City Watch’s eyes!”
“What if I said we could bamboozle the City Watch?
“It’s impossiblet”
“We can do it!”
“It’s impossible…”
Nobody believed they could pull the wool over the City Watch’s eyes.
Did Markus really think the City Watch were a bunch of easy marks?
Markus pulled out the Sinocomm Porsche he’d acquired earlier in the day from Mr. Harrington, then dialed a number and turned on the speaker.
Soon, the call was connected.
A chilly female voice echoed from the other end.
“Who’s this?”
The voice bore a striking resemblance to Abigail’s.
Everyone exchanged puzzled glances.
“It’s me, Markus. This is my number!”
“No sooner than something goes south with Reginald, you call me. Was that your doing?” Abigail’s voice cut through the air with a razor-sharp edge.
Markus replied solemnly, “If I were to say it was my body that committed the act, but my mind wasn’t in it, would that still count as my doing?”
“That wouldn’t count. I get it. Just keep your eyes peeled for the Montague Crime Family,” Abigail responded.
It was unmistakably Abigail.
No names were dropped during the entire conversation.
But amongst them, most could recognize Abigail’s voice.
Since she had spoken in this manner, then indeed, they could pull the wool over the City Watch’s eyes.
This made Theodore and the others all the more puzzled.
Abigail was notorious in Riverside City for being as impartial as a judge, so why would she pull strings for Markus?
What was her connection with him?
“Oh, right. There were two people behind Reginald’s severe injury. Who’s the other guy?” Abigail probed further.
“Anthony Harrington.”
Anthony was at a loss for words.
He internally raged, “Thanks a bunch!”
“So, it’s him! He’s friends with Harrison, right? Truly a ride-or-die brotherhood!”
Abigail’s voice took ond tone of realization.
