Chapter 10
She had woken up earlier than her usual time.
She had woken up with William cuddled into her side and she could still smell the faint scent of Lugar. She sighed knowing he must have slept with them again and she didn’t mind but at the same time she knew she needed to do something about this.
But that was the least of her worries.
Today was the day.
The day her pack would relinquish the title, would relinquish everything that made them, well…them. Today is the day Alpha Lugar bows to the new crowned King and Queen of the Werewolf monarch. Today is the day she bowed and the end of the Lugar alpha bloodline.
The new king and Queen are going to need an army, so who better than the most powerful pack known across the seas, who better than the Lugar bloodline.
She sighed once again and somehow the image of William Lugar popped into her mind.
William Lugar was the former Alpha, a man she looked up to, a father figure to her. She would do anything for him, she did anything for him. He was her saviour and she couldn’t help but feel like she had disappointed her alpha.
He wouldn’t approve this, he wouldn’t approve the idea of making a monarch. He would rather die than bow down to a boy who knows nothing about leading rather than being controlled by his parents, well mostly his mother.
William Lugar was a fierce man, known to all as a brute force that could not be taken down and yet his son is going to kneel in just a few hours.
She released a small growl of irritation. She still was against this and she didn’t approve. She didn’t want this but she also knew it was for the pack. The Therealt’s weren’t people who played fair, they weren’t actually the sweetest angels on the block, forest.
And William would be turning in his grave to know that they were to answer to a pack that was worse than rouges. She ran faster along the edges of the pack, her anger and frustration adding to the fuel. She could enjoy the scenery that she had woken up to but she couldn’t enjoy the trees or flowers that she whizzed past because she was so bent upon what was going to happen tonight.
She barked a growl and pushed further into the woods. Packs from across the continent would be arriving soon and it was a waiting game that made the pits of her stomach feel heavy.
Her wolf growled at her for her lack of concentration when they almost tripped over a fallen dead tree. She grew anxious and felt nervous and she decided to go and visit an old friend.
Taking a sharp turn into unfamiliar ground, she ventured further towards the Southern border and there she found the hollow tree they always hid their clothes in. She felt the bones of her body twist and knock themselves into the right places. She sighed and stretched before pulling the large t-shirt over her head. She sat down on the soft grass and pulled her legs to her chest, staring at the tombstone before her.
“I don’t know what to do anymore,” she admits, “William needs me and so does Lugar but I can barely manage myself”. The wind rustles against the trees and the soft sound is as if whispers answering her worries.
“William this is going to change everything, a monarch and the last one didn’t end well,” she recalled the stories he had told her.
“Why did you have to leave so early?” she rubbed her nose, trying not to sniffle.
“Unfortunately, he can’t answer that,” her breath hitched and she turned to Lugar who stood there in khaki shorts. He smiled at her and she did the same as he moved towards her, sitting by her side.
“Skipping out on work again?”, she asked him with a smug look.
“Says the Beta who is having a jol in the woods,” he chuckles bumping her side for a moment.
Silence fills them and they both read the words written on the tombstone.
William Matthew Lugar.
1947-2020
‘If your going to aim at a king better make sure you kill him’
“He loved Hank Void”, she smiles reading the quote, “and he was a Hank Void”.
“Lani…,” he whispered to her, “Lani I want you to know that whatever is going to happen tonight that you and William are my family and nothing is going to change that”
“not even the Therealts?”, she smiled laying her head on his shoulder.
“The Therealts can kiss my wolf’s ass,” she laughs at the stamens, “don’t tell them I said that though, goddess knows Elena has eyes everywhere even in my own god damn pack”.
Solani laughs and they sit there sharing the small stories of their childhood, the safe feeling of William watching over them and it would seem time runs faster and soon enough the sun disappears behind the mountains and Solani finds herself standing in front of her full-length mirror starring at the figure in it.
Her white hair now curled and styled to her taste, her brown skin looking oiled and her green eyes staring into her reflection. The black dress she’s wearing hugging her figure lovely and emphasising every feature that she got from her mother.
The night grows younger and she exhales the nerves that she feels rise within her. She talks to her wolf to calm her senses as she too is frazzled and anxious but about what Solani knows not.
The knock on her door draws her attention from the mirror and she mumbles a ‘come in’ while cleaning up her bedroom. The door opened and in rushes, an excited little William dressed in a black tie and she gushes dropping whatever she was doing and welcoming the young male in her arms. They hug and William pulls away, his cheeks rosy and his red hair dancing about his face.
“Aren’t you dashing?”, William gives her a small smirk as if proud to be acknowledged.
“And where is your tie Mister?”, she says noticing the vacant area on his chest.
He giggles before pointing to the open door as Lugar walks in mumbling incoherently to himself with two ties in his hand,” daddy’s fighting with it,” he giggles again.
She rolls her eyes and walks over to Lugar grabbing the two fabrics out of his hand. She places one on her shoulder before turning back to William wrapping it around his small neck and tying it.
“I was going to do that Lani,” she hums a sarcastic sure. “If you had just given me more,” she turns to him and he pauses looking at her,” time”, he breathes out.
She rolls her eyes before wrapping the fabric around his neck, “I’ll give you more time next time,” she says fixing the tie and the position.
She looks back at him and she’s frazzled to find his eyes already on her,” Is there something on my face?”. She asks turning to the mirror, “No…just that..” “Daddy thinks you pretty,” William sings and she feels the brush of blush against her skin.
“Only Daddy?”, Lugar asks with a gruff in his voice. William gushes and she shushes them before linking her arm with Lugar’s and holding William’s hand.
Her wolf grows more anxious with the walk to the packed hall. The celebration and crowning were happening on their land considering they had the biggest land that could accommodate various packs from across the continent.
“Are you okay?”, she turns to Lugar with a smile nodding her head.
They enter the halls, confused as to why everyone seems to have their attention grasped on something or a particular someone. She suddenly smells the fresh mint of twilight and mountain dew, and her wolf grows more excited. She turns towards the crowd and she immediately catches the black fur in the middle of the room, and next to it stood a man with jet black hair, pale skin and grey eyes that seemed to be focused on the wolf beside him.
And she dreaded the feeling that came next as he lifted his head hearing the canons of the entry of the future monarch but she was excited, scared and lost all at the same time, just because of the male in front of her.
Just because of her mate.
“Their Beginning”
He felt the eyes that made his wolf buzz with excitement, eyes that made his skin tingle with a feeling he has never felt before and it honestly scared him.
He had seen her enter and he had cursed the moon goddess for doing this to him. He turned to Genhji, knowing that his concerns were written in his eyes for once in his life and she already knew who had entered the room seeing how she also avoiding contact with the east side of it.
Solani couldn’t take her eyes off of him, couldn’t take her eyes off of the man that was hers to have. She watched as he turned towards the woman to his right and her heart dropped to the pits of her stomach.
This is why she felt as if everything was going to come crashing down on her. This is why she dreaded this day.
Next to her mate was someone she thought she would never see again. Someone she thought she had lost and yet they stand before her eyes. She prayed to the goddess to make her disappear, for she knew that trouble was sure to come. And how right she was.
