The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 190

Lorraine threw her arms around Matthew's neck. "Are there really dogs around? Let's go then!"

Matthew felt like his heart was going to melt from her hug and the warm breath fanning over his neck. She'd always loved clinging to him.

At the same time, he couldn't help feeling guilty. Lorraine had already been kidnapped twice. He couldn't allow it to happen again.

...

William and Sheldon sat in the Smith family's villa. They stared at a phone on the table. An hour had passed, but it had yet to ring.

William frowned. "Don't tell me they've all lost."

Sheldon shook his head. "Metal Mac's a true martial artist, and regular martial artists are no match for Jack's gun. How could they both have lost? Don't worry. Matthew isn't capable of that."

As soon as the words were out of his mouth, the phone rang. Sheldon answered it and put it on speaker. "How are things?"

The voice on the other end of the line sounded terrified. "Dead... they're all dead... and it's horrific... None of them can get back to us because they're dead!"

Sheldon shot to his feet, overturning the chair in the process. He cried, "How's that possible?"

William's expression turned sour. It looked like the Smith family had stepped on a powerful person's toes. He had mixed feelings as he glanced at Sheldon. "Could it be that he's even more powerful than you are?" Sheldon's expression became scornful. "He doesn't deserve to be compared to me. He and I aren't even in the same league."

William exhaled deeply, feeling relieved. "You... How powerful are you, really?"

He'd always been curious about the different skill levels of martial artists. But whenever he asked, Sheldon refused to tell him. Still, the more Sheldon said so, the more curious William became. Sheldon said somewhat proudly, "Don't try to understand this world if you're not in it, Grandpa. It'll just add to your worries.

"As for my skills, I've actually concealed my true abilities. If I really were to get serious, none of the Crane family's disciples would stand a chance against me.

"Aside from my mentor, none of the Crane family's older generation can call themselves my opponent!"

William couldn't help feeling proud. Sheldon had inherited his brains. He knew how to hide his true skills and stay on his guard. He asked, "What should we do next?"

Sheldon smiled and said, "We

haven't spent ten million dollars for nothing. Matthew might've killed Metal Mac and Jack, but he's also offended two martial arts families. Trouble's gonna knock on his door endlessly when I have someone send the corpses back to their families."

William grinned. He felt like Sheldon had already surpassed him in terms of his intelligence. He was confident the Smith family would only grow stronger in Sheldon's hands. Suddenly, he thought of something. "We can hold off on vengeance for now, but we have to deal with the Carter family as soon as possible.

"They've connected with 300 herb planters, and we have all the information on them. We should start purchasing herbs from them.

"Once the Carter family loses their herb source, they won't be able to produce any herbal tinctures. Then, the investors will pull out, and that'll be our chance to reap the benefits."

...

As the sky grew darker, Matthew

danced with Lorraine in the garden. In truth, Matthew was pretending to be a carrot so that Lorraine could pick him. A cheerful tune played on his phone as they played.

A woman showed up at the entrance-it was Tessa. She was taken aback when she saw this scene. In the past, she'd always found borraine to be a nuisance and Matthew to be such a nice guy that he was almost weak.

He didn't have the ruthlessness and ferocity that every man should have. But now, she realized she was wrong.

She saw how adorable Lorraine was when she laughed and how cute Matthew looked while pretending to be a carrot.

This was what a happy life was supposed to be like! It was a sense of warmth and coziness that she'd desired but failed to obtain since the divorce. It was too bad... it no longer belonged to her.

She didn't know how she ended up losing her happy family. Tears of regret streamed down her face.
